Title: Overworld?
Description: Traveling Between Destinations

NeverB4Seen - January 20, 2005 07:04 AM (GMT)
Hey, question.

What is the overworld going to be like? Is it going to be similar to the old Chrono Trigger but in 3D? Or is it going to be more like FFX or FFVII where the world will move with the character. Some ideas about this would be really interesting to me I think ;) Especially when the Epoch is aquired. (Maybe similar to FFVI and Secret of Mana overworld in that sence).

Celera - January 20, 2005 07:18 AM (GMT)
I hope it's not like FFX. I missed the world map in that game. ;__; I say make it like Chrono Cross. ^^ Stays in the style, but looks more 3D.

Soul Eater - January 20, 2005 07:47 AM (GMT)
It think it would be a little more interesting if the overworld is like FFVII, :P it just make it feel like the world is a bigger place. Well... that's my 2 cents.

Celera - January 20, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)
Oh! That'd be awesome!!! ^____^

Soul Eater - January 20, 2005 08:16 AM (GMT)
*imagines something like FFIX* Sweeeeeeeet *drools*

Actually CT will really look nice with that kind of overworld especially because it doesn't have the annoying random encounter....

Knives101 - January 20, 2005 09:01 AM (GMT)
 Well if I remember right they are going to try to have a over head view but if they can't get it to work it will be more 3rd person view.

Knives - January 20, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
Imagine the original CT overworld. Got it? Good. Now picture it exactly the same, but with 3D graphics. Got it? Good. Now, picture each town as its own map instead of entering each building individually. That's right, when you want to enter a building you have to go into its town and physically walk into it. This is lighter on load times, plus it allows us to add new stuff to towns and make them more believable. Example? In Truce, you will be able to walk down on the beach and see the ocean stretch out for miles :D

Celera - January 20, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
Sweet! ^____^ That sounds perfect, Knives.

Knives101 - January 21, 2005 04:46 AM (GMT)
.....well... I'm speachless.. :D

Galidan - January 21, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
Strange. I was going to suggest that personally. Great minds think alike.

There could be more people to talk to when you got into town, not just in the houses. I agree on the beach, like Opassa Beach, where you can go and enjoy the beach(that brings up a good mini game. How about a Surfing game, you can choose your character and ride the waves like in breath of fire 4 there is the fishing game. You get items for making good times and doing some good tricks)

Knives101 - February 10, 2005 09:34 AM (GMT)
 that'd interesting maybe some shopping stands and what not through out the town

WolfPack - February 12, 2005 01:25 AM (GMT)
Nice big towns......... NICE!

I agree on this one. It should be like Chrono Cross where it looks a bit more 3d(but not like FF8 or 9 where the world moves arround you, for loading times and speed pourposes). But it should be like any other modern RPG where the world does turn arround you when you are in the Epoch or on the Dinos. I mean like FF6 when you get on the Air Ships.

celestria - February 12, 2005 11:07 PM (GMT)
i would really like to see a coop version soo you could play with friends

WolfPack - February 13, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
To a limited extent, yes that would be cool.

BrownMan - February 13, 2005 10:03 PM (GMT)
chould be like Chrono Cross. that would be awesome!

WolfPack - February 15, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
You mean like SD3. Or to a smaller extent, ff9.

GmMontex03 - February 15, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
Hmm, like ff9, but smaller? so you want it to be seen from the distance of CT or CC, but want the world to move arround you?

WolfPack - February 19, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
Actually, i was reffering to the battle system co-op idea. When i said FFIX, i was talking about how, when in battle, a second person can controll atleast one (usually 2) of the characters. Or to a more fuller extent, like SD3, where a second or even a third person can join in and play through the whole game with you, and turn controll back over to the NPC when they want to leave.

GmMontex03 - February 19, 2005 07:32 AM (GMT)
So what your saying is make it like secret of mana, for those of you who dont know the english translation for SD2, where your friends can join in if they want(also happened on FFIV, V, VI, and later). Were you also refering to if you were playing onlone your friends could log in half way arround the world and start fighting with you?

WolfPack - February 19, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
Well, i was thinking more of being on the same PC, but I guess LAN and internet could also work. Might be a little laggy though, at least for me...

GmMontex03 - February 20, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
Yea, that is a problem, lag. Gess it would have to be on the same computer or if possible, just the same Network

WolfPack - February 26, 2005 06:47 AM (GMT)
But lag is only a problem for modem users, for everyone else, internet co-op would be really nice.

GmMontex03 - February 26, 2005 06:56 AM (GMT)
If you have 56k or less( i dont know anyone with less) you might experiance some lag.

majjinbuuhoo - March 2, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
Lol, I went straight from 28.8k (it existed!!) to Cable. Buahaha. Now I have DSL, because it's cheaper here. Kind of funny, I like it better in some ways. Yes. Internet Co-op would be nice..

Stoney - March 4, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
Shouldn't this whole "Internet Co-Op" thing be in another thread, instead of this one?

propagator4 - March 4, 2005 07:54 PM (GMT)
It doesn't need to be. It's an interesting idea spurring productive conversation, enough has been said about the overworld for now, and moving it might interrupt the natural flow of the discussion. So why bother?
Granted, other members tend to care more about things like this than I, but in this case I really don't see the point.

GmMontex03 - March 5, 2005 03:47 AM (GMT)
Either way, this is going to be a kick a)) game!

WolfPack - March 7, 2005 03:19 AM (GMT)
It'll be so good, it'll make Square jealous. :D

GmMontex03 - March 7, 2005 03:25 AM (GMT)
I'd like to see square, when it comes out, buy it off of the team here and then make it for the PS2

propagator4 - March 7, 2005 04:37 AM (GMT)
Didn't we decide that it would be best to limit discussions about Square, especially in relation to this game?

GalaxyFalcon - March 7, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
We did.

GmMontex03 - March 8, 2005 07:10 AM (GMT)
No real comment to be said... i thought it was about C&Ds though.

WolfPack - March 9, 2005 07:24 AM (GMT)
Talking about square is kinda like the black plauge - It kills over time.
