Any thoughts about merging with that old Resurrection project they seemed to have some really good models. *drools at promo video* Shame Square got all Disney on them.

Duranix - December 10, 2004 09:27 AM (GMT)
hm...

dont think we've thought about this... good idea!

Galidan - December 10, 2004 03:19 PM (GMT)
Actually I believe this was already brought up. As I remember, one team approached the other and suggested this, but they were turned down.

BrownMan - December 10, 2004 05:46 PM (GMT)
that was WHEN CTR was still being made....

Chuckles - December 10, 2004 08:08 PM (GMT)
A bunch of people who just got shut down for doing something aren't exactly going to jump at the oppurtunity to join another team, who is dedicated to doing the same thing.

WolfPack - December 11, 2004 01:03 AM (GMT)
Not to mention, they may want to be paid.

Duranix - December 11, 2004 02:52 AM (GMT)
lol

yeah.. they probably might wanna be paid

GalaxyFalcon - December 11, 2004 05:23 AM (GMT)
And then we'd get a C&D

WolfPack - December 12, 2004 12:37 AM (GMT)
Yup. And seeing that they were trying to get jobs off of CT:R, i doubt they'd do it for free.

Duranix - December 15, 2004 08:33 AM (GMT)
:D

you could bribe them.... but then u might as well pay them :D :D :P

Alezunde - December 18, 2004 11:07 PM (GMT)
There's also the issue of consistency - even though both teams are working off of the same reference, the artistic style is slightly different - so if we use CTR models with the CTRP, they could look conspicuously out of place.
We want to try and make everything look like it fits together and maintain a consistent artistic style.

Lashiec - January 11, 2005 12:05 AM (GMT)
it would be like jumping into their boat, which has already sunk.

Epsonite - January 12, 2005 01:34 PM (GMT)
...hmm but if you jumped into there boat you could save some scripts reformat em so there not there send em to square and go BAM you ruined a lifetime of nothinG!

**sigh** im so useless

celestria - January 27, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
lmao yes bribe them with sex instead of money

BrownMan - January 27, 2005 11:48 PM (GMT)
i agree with celes :D

NrG - January 30, 2005 04:14 AM (GMT)
I remember a thread back in the Summer mentioning them not wanting to join this project.

Almighty_Gir - January 30, 2005 10:09 AM (GMT)
i think ur all missing the fact that CT:R was a product, meant for sale, coded from scratch, had its own graphical engine, and everything.

CTRP is a modification of a game, it works on an entirely different code base, with an entirely different graphics engine. the fact is, it wouldnt be easy to just merge the two together..

that and most of the CT:R team are already in the industry >_>

TheBrain - January 30, 2005 02:09 PM (GMT)
I believe it was for promotion, not sale.

Galidan - January 30, 2005 03:28 PM (GMT)
So many people seem to think that it was going to be for sale and I don't know why.

Link1802 - February 1, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
I agree with Galidan.
What is wrong with you people?
You are so missinformed!

CT:R WAS NOT MEANT FOR PROFIT!

It was a fan made remake of 10 scenes in chrono trigger!
They WEREN'T going to sell it for PROFIT.
WOW!!!

PLEASE SPREAD THE KNOWLEDGE BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THIS!

EDIT: Do NOT post in caps! Removed most of the caps sentences...

Chuckles - February 1, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
First... Link, cool it down... (And use a spell checker :P)

Gir, he is right, it wasn't meant for profit.

Marcel - February 3, 2005 03:39 PM (GMT)
user posted image <-- Turn it off before you post.
And for god's sake, check your spelling, you oddball!

But maybe CTR wouldn't have been shut down this rogorously if there weren't hordes of people running around saying they did it for profit, indeed. (I'm not trying to point to people, before ANYONE feels offended, just speculating). Why don't people check their sources?

I want you all to read something i just read. And think about what it is saying.

05.07.04 - Chrono Trigger: Resurrection Web Site Launched!

Welcome to the home of the Chrono Trigger: Resurrection project! We have been vigorously working for the past year on this project and we're excited to bring it to the public eye, in full, for the first time.

Chrono Trigger: Resurrection is a 3D remake of Square's SNES classic, Chrono Trigger. The demo, which will be released Christmas 2004, re-creates ten of the best scenes from the original game.

Currently, the demo is 25% complete. We expect to release a trailer when the demo is over 50% completed, which should be around the end of August. When the project is completed, only the PC version will be released to the public for free. The GameCube and Xbox ports are internal and only official developers (for those respective platforms) will be able to play them.

There are various screenshots of scenes, characters, stock art, concept art, and even some sample music located in the Media section. We invite you to navigate around the rest of Web site to find out any information about the project and post your thoughts on the forums.

We hope you look forward to our next news update.

That was posted on the CTR site. Now re-read the third paragraph. It said that "...only the PC version will be released to the public for free." Now thats not saying that it'll cost, it is free! But that isn't what I wanted you to look at.

Look at the next part. "The GameCube and Xbox ports are internal and only official developers (for those respective platforms) will be able to play them."
What does that mean? The developers of there respective platforms will be able to play them, but also if it got to the company that makes the platforms, it would be a desaster. It didnt include PS2 in it too, so what does that tell you? that they are trying to get an audience to go out and buy the XBox and GameCube.

What I'm trying to say is that it may not cost to play or download on the net, but when they included the part about the developers being able to play it, it seemed that they were trying to promote a product and sell it, or even if they didnt sell it, most of the people working on the project are already in the movie and/or gaming industry. they were making CTR not only as a fan remake, but also to put into their portfolio and get somewhere in the industry as well.

Now had they not been in the industry(or had only one person been in there but not been the top remake person) the C&D might not have come. It would have been entirely fan based, and who knows, the people who made it might have been offered positions in companies. Also, if you actually looked and searched for interviews with and/or on the CTR makers you would find quite a few interviews. thats how square probibly got the word faster than anything else. Square then looked into it and decided that other people would be making money in the long run off of CTR, thus issuing a C&D letter.
