Wow you're rich, you have those damn expensive art markers
Nice dynamic pose...might wanna work on the arms though, they look kinda like rubbery tubes.

Nice job!
They are prisma color markers, my Dad found them really cheap, believe it or not, at some dollar store or something I think.

The pack only has like flesh tones, greys and oranges lol.

Really nice work Validus, seriously the use of shading in your picture is masterful, damn I can't believe that was done with markers  , bravo :o

Cheers,

Vash

Really nice. I always like things drawn/colored with inks, because I dont like to use them my self. Whenever using pens I'm always afraid I'm going to slip up and ruin what I'm working on.

Some random stuff I've done to varying degrees of sucess:

Nice work! We have real talents here!
By the way is the second image intended to look like a Warcraft 2 paladin?
If it is then you did an amazing job because It really looks like a war2 paladin.
Master Chief, the aircraft and the battle armor look amazingly cool!

Moogle Man, awesome color job you did that in Corel Painter? (the team is really in need of someone who can paint that well in Corel Painter)

Gyokuran - January 2, 2005 06:33 PM (GMT)
Yeah its suposed to be a WC2 paladin, I wanted to color it and subit it to the blizzard fan art page but I usually dont get around to coloring.

Alezunde - January 2, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
Great work Gyo!
You should practice inking - the more you do it, the less mistakes you tend to make. :)
And with your hand... you could do quite well with ink I think.
Anyhow, Ink also scans better and looks better than pencil.
And it lasts longer...
Maybe I'll try to get ahold of some microns for you...

Lol - and I agree with Brain - the Paladin is very good looking.
You should try a bit of coloring with your tablet.

Moogle Man-
That piece of yours looks great!
You should consider joining the team, as Brain has suggested. :)

This is great work everyone!

Moogle Man - January 2, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
That's some pretty good sketches, one thing I do notice is that when you draw humanoid figures you tend to draw the legs a bit too short, specifically the lower portion of the leg just below the knees. Other than that, some nice stuff.

Some other stuff from me

And as for joining the team, I'd be glad to help with colouring, I never bothered applying because the concept artist team was full according to the apply for a job thread :P

Gyokuran - January 2, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
Yeah I do tend to make the lower leg too short, thanks for pointing that out I didnt notice it before.

Alezunde - January 2, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
Man... this world has a shortage of people who can good constructive critisicm.
Thanks Moogle Man. :)

Sir_Crono531 - January 3, 2005 03:14 AM (GMT)

Vitani - January 9, 2005 05:40 PM (GMT)
It's done in 3D Studio Max 6.

Sir_Crono531 - January 9, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)

Chuckles - January 9, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
These past few days have just been a flood of talent and stuff like that! I guess my spamming in an IRC channel did help.

Vitani - January 9, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
What IRC channel? I've been following this project for quite a while but have not commited to working on it. I am working on a cathederal model currently and if there is not one already made let me know and I can get it to someone.

SSJoseph - January 9, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
nice, you should try using bigger textures though, so it dosn't look all tiled like that.
Also, I noticed somthing the top spire.

the things that are like this

/\
/\ /\
/\ /\

well, the top one is a little short ^^;

And you should add a mirror, or shine effect to the gold part of (what I will call) the crows nest

Chuckles - January 10, 2005 01:39 AM (GMT)
Eh, just some random IRC channel I was in about another set of forums... And that cathedral is awesome...

Sir_Crono531 - January 10, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
man, i have this weapon i drew, its kinda like something Magus would use, but i can't scan it, my scanner like completely went bonkers so i have to go buy a new one, but i asked my friend if he could scan it for me and then send it to me, and he said he had to check if his scanner works or not, and if it does, i'll get the drawing in tomorrow

Gyokuran - January 11, 2005 11:16 PM (GMT)
Here are some 3D ships I've made for a sort of side project I like to do. I've been planing out the sort of game I'd like to play (though I cant decide on MMORPG, Fighter sim, or RTS [maybe some kind of crazy combo?]) set in the future. I'm trying to make them as plausable as possible without making them boring (the perfect spaceship design in regards of manuverability would be a sphere). Modeling is pretty much where I want it, but I havent really done textures (not that good at it).

Got a couple others I've started also but they're not very far along. I also cant for the life of me figure out a somewhat realistic space fighter design that doesnt look like a Star Fury ripoff. I want it to be pretty realistic though, not just a run of the mill airplane in space, despite how cool they look. All the engines have to be reversable, if not then you either wont be able to stop, or not be able to run your engines as fast as possible. Only major realism thing that really bugs me right now is the size of the turrets. Visually they look good, but when compared to the crew they seem way to big. In scale with the bridge, the diamiter of the bullets coming out of the destroyer's turrets would be about 40 feet. The cannon on the newer US Destroyers is 5 inches, with the big WWII Dreadnoughts tiping the scale at 20 inch main cannons. A 20 inch magnetically propelled projectile in space would wreak enough havok, I dont want to think about a 40 foot one let alone the spine mounted one thats another 8 times more massive.

Chuckles - January 11, 2005 11:19 PM (GMT)
Looks nice.... Very Nice...

BrownMan - January 11, 2005 11:42 PM (GMT)
I love the battle cruiser. Good job man

Hi everybody, sound the trumpets! For this is the memorable day i make my first act as an admin! Invoking article 3.5 16:32 of the book of St. Brain's Revelations, chapter 'The Ways of the Forum' which i quote "Thou shall promote any topic that contributes to the forums cultural richness and overall organization".

I really enjoyed this topic Validus started, its a shame to see hidden amidst the Town Fair, it deserves much more so it is now pinned on the artbook 2d section.

Hope everybody can keep posting their works... 2d unrelated or fanart.
Big thanks to Validus, MoogleMan, Gyokuran, PonytailGirl and so on...

Here's my contribution to this topic...
