Title: complaint
kuksoolwon - August 24, 2004 10:50 AM (GMT)
Why is it that game compaines tell us that they make games that we want to see get made. but yet we still dont get a true Chrono Trigger sequel? And if it does get made i hope that grapically it doesnt get done in 3D.I hope that it just gets an upgrade from Chrono Trigger but i dont want it to look in 3D.
Apocalypse - August 24, 2004 05:19 PM (GMT)
You mean you want it in 2D? Well... I suppose that is understandable since the original was in 2D. However... then the Team would have to remake another CT game from 2D!
I really hope they do. I don't understand why Square is clingling so tightly to Final Fantasy when there is obvious potential in Chrono Trigger. After the many years it was created; this old Rpg still has an amazing amount of fans. I sincerely hope Square gets the idea through their thick skulls soon...
WolfPack - August 24, 2004 06:47 PM (GMT)
Like i said before, its like a king or kingdom thats lost touch with its people.
Bedryn - August 24, 2004 09:25 PM (GMT)
But Final Fantasy was an awsome series as well. There was potential there. Now that it has run itself into the ground, purhaps they will look towards Chrono Trigger. I hear many people that say CC is not a worthy sequal. Maybe making a sequal is a bad idea. Sometimes it is best to let well enough alone.
WolfPack - August 24, 2004 10:12 PM (GMT)
Thats true, but there are some good sequels that have happened in the past. One of them, is Star Wars. I mean, it gets better with each movie. For a game, the AOE (rts) series seemed to get better tell AOM. In the RPG category, the SOM series, and the Elder Scrolls series seem to get better.
Unfortanetly this doesn't apply to the Chrono Series. First Radical Dreamers, which truned out to a game that was on lsd; then Chrono Cross, which was a remake of RD, which was almost as bad in my oppion. If you incluse Chrono Break, it was a flop because they never made it.
If a sequel was ever to be made, it would have to be done with care, so that the orginal story is not ruined, the new story or add on does not counter or conflict the orginal, and finally - Is as good, or better than the orginal game in all respects.
TheGreatJuja - August 25, 2004 12:35 PM (GMT)
About all this sequel living up to the original stuff- I've just gotta say that for me, no game will EVER surpass Chrono Trigger, as far as I'm concerned. I honestly cannot envision a game ever coming out that could possibly make me think twice about what my favorite game was. It will always be Chrono Trigger for me.
As for Chrono Trigger's sequel, Chrono Cross, I know it doesn't come close to Chrono Trigger, but it was still a really great game, and I loved it. I mean, if they made one or two more games in the Chrono series, I know I'd buy them. In fact, I'd by a whole new game console if I had to, for those games alone(I've done it before, when FFVII came out).
I can understand why people would be afraid that putting out more Chrono games could give the series a bad name, but come on, how can they go wrong with a game whose original is the best game ever made? I mean, I would only want them to make one or two more...possibly three, because we all know the dangers of going too far with a series (Final Fantasy). I mean, the older Final Fantasy games were incrediblel In fact, FFVI is my favorite game, next to Chrono Trigger, of course(God I love Chrono Trigger). But now...Final Fantasy games have really gone downhill, and fast. I'm sure we all noticed a decline after FFVII. I liked VIII, and IX was fun, but the games were definitely not of the same quality as their predecessors.
Anyway, I'm sure my incoherent rambling has probably gotten out of line. All I was really trying to say here is that if they put out another Chrono game, I'd definitely buy it.
WolfPack - August 25, 2004 05:54 PM (GMT)
Well ya, i'm sure we all would
GalaxyFalcon - August 25, 2004 08:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah, i agree about Chrono Cross failing completelty as a good sequel...oh well, you bascially took the words outa my moutch. I agree 100% with what he said. ^^^

KuramaGenkai - August 29, 2004 06:35 PM (GMT)
Well I have a thing I would like to add. With Final Fantasy(with the exception of X-2) it is all new things, but with Chrono, it really needs time to get all of the facts straight. It is much harder to make a game that has to tie in all of the difficult knots in the story. With Final Fantasy and other games that they release though, there is not so much thinking that is neccesary, so it allows them to make things quicker, allowing more games to be released. Although if they haven't even done any thinking on how the game should go, after all of this time that has passed since Chrono Cross, then I completely agree that these people should look around a little more. I do think that they probably have done a some thinking on this( but then again everyone can be wrong.... most of the time). I do hope I am right.... truly I do.(Wouldn't another game be wonderful though?)
DragonTycoon - September 10, 2004 10:19 PM (GMT)
I think Chrono Trigger desperately needs a sequal. I mean, as desperately as a drowning man needs air. Thisw is the best game ever made, and I don't want to see it go the way of Pong - only talked about, never played.
How about a sequel which is a 3D remake with added plot points that add to the story, explaining further some things (like Schala) or a sequel taking place in an alternate dimension? Several plot points would stay the same, but major things would change - the Robots ruling over the humans with an iron fist in the future, or the Reptites wiping out the entire human race besides a tiny village (of course containing Ayla and Kino).
I think that, if handled well, some things never die - like Megaman. It's the same game every time, with next to no plot, but it's always fun. All I'm saying is it's possible.
Keaton Prower - September 13, 2004 05:30 AM (GMT)
Now, I just finished Chrono Trigger for the first time about an hour ago, and I've never played Chrono Cross, but I say that I partaily agree with DragonTycoon. It can't have a sequel. You can't make a good sequel out of a game like this. You need to have a remake. I'd actualy love a remake if they didn't change the areas, the enemys or anything like that. That, and they should continue it. Add more story for the charators after Crono, Marle, and Lucca are out of the picture. What happens in the good future? Does Robo still exist? Does Magus find whats-het-face? (Can't remember the name). As long as they don't alter the original storyline, and they don't change the area and enemy design, then they could pull off an amazing remake. But knowing Square Enix, they'll never do it.
JGALL21 - September 24, 2004 11:55 PM (GMT)
I think Chrono Cross has a Great story and all but related to Chrono Trigger? I think it should have another title other than Chrono.
Chaos Chrono - September 30, 2004 07:32 AM (GMT)
Exactly- When I played CC, I was like..."Wuh...?"
It's sorta outta nowhere with the whole frozen flame and dragon tear thing...I also agree that Chrono Cross would've been a good game by itself if it didn't have the whole concept of being a sequel.
Oh one more thing...A question- Is Guile actually Magus? I'm confused on that kinda thing.
Hm...Actually I think Chrono Break should be a sequel to Chrono Trigger, and they should pluck Chrono Cross out of it...It's a great game and all it's just that...It needed more Chrono Trigger linking. I mean...Since SquareEnix isn't hesitating to say yes to making final fantasy games, shouldn't they kinda say the same for Chrono Brake? I mean...It's like a...A candy dispenser! All you have to do is put 10 cent in and then a FF game comes out! Or like...If you're gardening veggies...It's like...you plant a seed and then there's nothing but FF games in your garden! Yes!
*Cough* erm...
So how many of yous think that they're all slacking off sort of?
Oshi - October 1, 2004 09:49 AM (GMT)
well if you ask me, its all in the name... i mean... anyone who has ever played an rpg knows about final fantasy, but not necesairily chrono trigger... since there are so many final fantasy games people will buy the next one mainly because it has final fantasy in the name... where the only link in any of em would be that theres a cid in each one...
yes, i really want to see the story continued but i dont see square doing it...
because if they release a ff, the game would automatically get hyped up. but i dotn see the same thing happening with CT... it may get some hype, but nowhere near as much as ff would...
its all about the money
WolfPack - October 2, 2004 01:49 AM (GMT)
Yup. Which is why i think square is gonna die. Thier so worried about income their gonna continue making crapy games and bankrupt.

lol. I was like "Huh? Whu?" So, i understand. lol. Yeah, i generally agree with you on your points though. kinda weird for a crono game, but alone it woulda been better. I think though that there would be a ton of hype of CB or a new Chrono game, i dunno, i dont see why they dont make it, it would be a money maker.
Duranix - October 2, 2004 04:33 AM (GMT)
i think im the only one here without a complaint for CC...
hehe... it would have been better if it wasnt a sequel... but it wouldnt really be much of a game if it wasnt able to make those references to CT...
and whats up with me using these ....'s?
WolfPack - October 3, 2004 01:22 AM (GMT)
Well, references to CT are fine, and actually great. Altering CT's storyline like it did, just plain sucks.
Duranix - October 3, 2004 01:25 AM (GMT)
i think i just got it.
we wanted a squel to CT, but the story was finished, so they had to alter it for a new story in the CT world... but it could have been better, but it was great, and a lot better than all the FF games they release. come on Square, 2 FF games a Year?!?!
WolfPack - October 3, 2004 01:32 AM (GMT)
I disagree. I don't think they had to alter the storyline. At the very least, they coulda done something like knight of lodis, a sub story of Orge Battle. Or they coulda done a really good sequel on schala, magus, and so forth.
Duranix - October 3, 2004 02:13 AM (GMT)
but thats what CC did. CC was a story about schala, and how if serge lived, Crono and his freinds efforts would have gone to vain. and since he lived, he has to fix what he undid.
Chaos Chrono - October 5, 2004 06:03 PM (GMT)
Well I think we should all make a big CB mob. We go over to the Square Enix company and we march around with signs chanting: "Chrono Brake! Chrono Brake!" untill they get annoyed. How about it? who's with me!?!?
