Ok, hi everyone, my name is Scott aka zentho. I'm new to the team and I'm onboard as a Coder. My speciailty lies in C++ but I am currently learning Unreal Script so I can get to work on the remake. As time progresses I'll post updates to what I'm working on and stuff, however this post will remain barren for a while as I play around with Unreal Script. It's really hard to estimate how long coding stuff takes because sometimes you hit brick walls in your code and sometimes things just go *click* in your head :) So, i'm going to give a conservative estimate of 2 weeks before I put out anything worthwhile. I might get something out sooner, or later, who knows ;)

Anways, a little bit about me: I'm a 1st year CS major at Portland State University, I love gaming, especially RPGs, FPSs, and MMORPGs. I've played almost every online rpg including asheron's call, dark age of camelot, star wars galaxies, final fantasy xi, and shadowbane. I want to develop MMOPRGs for a living but single player RPGs are also a passion. My favorite FPS used to be counter-strike until I got bored with it and started using hacks. I was banned from all steam servers shortly after that. :lol: Ok...oh I also play BF1942 now, that game is cool! I'm 18 yrs old and thats about it... Ok, little update here. I bought UT2k3 because I feel it will help me use some of the tutorials I've found on the web which will undoubtedly speed up my learning process. Only $12.50 on ebay B)

Will we need, btw, the UT2K3 Engine and game and the like to run the Remake? i actually think this was answered somwhere else...but i forgot. And how hard is it to learn that engine? It appears that there is a lot involved, although i havnt persoanlly tried. oh yeah, one more question, does the engine come with the game or do you have to get the Engine seperate?

Unreal comes with the engine....lol

Internet still down. I got UT2003 recently and have been toying with it. Haven't had a lot of time to work on scripting due to lack of internet connection. Most of my time is spent scheduling my day so I can get lab time to do my homework. STILL working with the idiots who run the internet access for on campus housing to get back online.

I've been looking at Unreal2k3's scripting... wow, lots of code in there... but the main thing is that most of what UT supplies isn't of much use to us. An RPG has so many things that a FPS doesn't have (like detailed menus, inventory, battle system, etc) that I'm gonna check out the UnrealEngine2 runtime just to see what that's like... excluding the fact that I know that it's not supposed to be used for games :P Anyway, I'll keep taking a look, and if anyone finds a mod that isn't a FPS and actually changes the gameplay drastically, please lemme know!

I'm really glad the team has finally found a coder. Best of luck in learning the Unreal scripting language ............ Sorry to hear your have such problems with your internet connection ........... I lost my connection for a month so I know how you feel ............. Hope you gain access again soon ...........
