I saw this just a minute ago on the Chrono Crisis board. I wonder if it'll be a new game in the series or just a remake?

/Galidan

-- Taking advantage of the Nintendo DS hardware, CHRONO TRIGGER makes its way onto the portable platform with all-new dual screen presentation and Touch-Screen functionality

-- A brand new dungeon and a Wireless Play mode adds exciting new dimensions to this timeless classic

My guess if this is true, it's a standard port with revamped features, :D.
The Wireless Play though... co-op?

UPDATE: Apparently MP battles!

Knives - July 2, 2008 07:36 PM (GMT)
Chrono Trigger multiplayer? Hmmm...

Also, a new dungeon :o

Nraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

I remember being in Japan a while back and talking to a guy who was working on the DS. He asked me what games Americans would want to see on a hand held. I gave him the correct answer before he could finish the sentence.

"Chron.. oh. Really? That game? Over there? No kidding." he replied.

Then we drank a lot of beer.

I would like to think that I am the one who hit the jukebox at just the right angle to get this sweet music flowing. But I'm not.

I think that line right there nullifies any chance of you being the catalyst :D

Heyyyyaaa.... B)

I saw this the day it came out, and I let out a serious Woop. lol.

(I'm in England at the moment, and most people don't let woops out in Oxford. lol.)

Maybe this will give us some more traffic, and get us going again on something new. :P

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35888.html

The text doesn't reveal anything about the game play. Just things like "13 years have passed", "an adventure through space and time to determine the fate of the planet", etc.

TheBrain - July 6, 2008 08:52 PM (GMT)
Anyone noticed that the trailer has the old clock hands end in the C of the clock?
They just cut the old logo and placed moving clock hands without restoring the C in the background image...
That's a bit... amateurish...

WolfPack - July 6, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
Ya, I noticed that too. I was kinda hoping they meant to do that, as crappy as it is, rather than just really poor work.

I'm hoping this doesn't turn into another SE botch job, but hey, its SE, so not like it couldn't happen.

TheBrain - July 6, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
"After 13 years in the making... millions of dollars spent... all that we could create is..."

...this lousy t-shirt.

:P Just kidding (I hope).
Let's wait and see what they do :).

Galidan - July 7, 2008 05:39 AM (GMT)
It's great that they're keeping the series alive, but couldn't they do SOMETHING extra? I mean besides the extra dungeon, which if it's Singing Mountain, I'll kill myself. The DS is way more power than the SNES. It could be 3d like FF4, or have improved sprites or music. But no. Nothing. Ugh.

I know! It's pretty irritating. Makes me wonder why no one else has tried to start a project to remake Chrono Trigger.

WolfPack - July 10, 2008 06:38 PM (GMT)
DP, but ya...

"Square Enix has officially announced that the enhanced DS port of Chrono Trigger will hit North America 'this holiday season.' "

woot.

isak@mac.com - July 13, 2008 10:45 AM (GMT)
I want it. Now. Gimme.

But seriously, I really hope that they atleast improve the music, or the animations!

WolfPack - July 14, 2008 01:51 PM (GMT)
I'd like to see what they did with the early FF games, done to trigger, but its not sounding like that.

As scary as it may be, someday, I would like to see into the minds of the SE people, and see just how they think (or don't).

lol.

BrownMan - July 23, 2008 07:07 AM (GMT)
thank god I have a ds  . i will definitely be buying this!

Sir_Crono531 - July 31, 2008 05:42 AM (GMT)

Correction: This apparently applies to Europe. My source originally claimed it applied to the U.S. Whoops.

all the information you need for Chrono Trigger DS is here:

Good morning Crono!

this is the official site, check out the Gameplay tab on the bottom, it seems they added more sidequests and more fun stuff. I can't wait!! ^_^, 13 days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Negus - November 25, 2008 10:57 AM (GMT)
It's out as of today, brethren. I'm eager to hear what people are going to say... I'm walking again, seen? And I just hit 20. Let the good times roll!

BrownMan - November 27, 2008 12:11 AM (GMT)
they have stories added in as bad as filler arcs in anime

Apocalypse - November 27, 2008 06:38 PM (GMT)
Glad to hear you're back on your feet, Negus. Congratz on the 20th. ;)

Well, it was a tough call... seeing as I own Chrono Trigger in various forms already... but I decided to get it. I want to make sure that Square-Enix is aware that there are still many fans of the series. Unfortunately, I probably fell right in to their marketing trap... but to ensure the continuation of the series, the sales of this DS release must not fail.

Anyway, I haven't heard many negatives about the new canon material, BrownMan. In fact, most of the people at the Compendium are pretty ecstatic about it, from what I've seen. The only problem is, while it does give some additional insight to the series, it also raises additional questions... and then leaves those unanswered. To put it simply, the final additions don't conflict with anything... and they add some new depth. Could it have been better? Certainly, we would've been much happier with an entirely new sequel that was done by the "dream team", but considering the way Square-Enix has been denying us additional entries in to the series, we can't really be that picky over any sort of new content.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving. :P

mrr222 - December 5, 2008 02:12 AM (GMT)
I was four dollers short *cries*

I guess ill just go pull out my dusty super nintendo and play that way xD

So my question is, brethren, what exactly are the differences? I don't know much about it...

And thanks for the love Apoc!

Peace and love!

Happy New Year, Brethren!

Peace and love!!

WolfPack - January 8, 2009 02:26 AM (GMT)
I think, despite whatever they did to the game, good or bad, I'm gonna get it. I've been saving my 100th play of the game for some time now, I think this will be a good way of enjoying it.

Which means I also need to buy a DS.

Which means I need to save money. lol.
