Title: rumour....?.......Chrono Hope !
Description: are you excited as I am? wow...
BrownMan - January 11, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
http://www.xboxcircle.com/xbox360/2007/01/...g-two-licenses/Square-Enix, is selling two licences. One, the Kingdom Hearts license to Buena Vista Games (who were the actual publishers of the games!)
now second, they are selling the
Chrono license to............................Mistwalker!
you guys know Mistwalker right? :) . the people who were in squaresoft and made Chrono Trigger 1, and then disbanded a couple of years ago to make their company "Mistwalker". their new noted game that's coming out is Blue Dragon for the Xbox360. Could this mean hope for Chrono Trigger? if they have the character licenses then.....MAYBE! maybe a Chrono Trigger 2, a Chrono Brake, a Chrono 3rd, a 3d prequel to Chrono Trigger, Chrono side stories... :ph43r: the possiblilities!
on the site it DOES say that its a rumour, but there's hope :) . how excited are YOU sirs? maybe this is why there was a cease and decease letter going out to all remakes? because it was a license that they were going to sell and other companies wouldnt buy it since they thought it wouldnt become popular (since there are so many games of it already that theres no point of making another one). wow guys, I am really excited

It's great news, brethren...let's hope it's true, seen? We shouldn't get too carried away though, seen?

Mistwalker made their company name as a SIGN, that they would follow life just like the mystics from CT, and that there would be a regeneration :o :D
....just shooting in the dark :( , but still hope :ph43r:

I'll be hyped beyond belief if its true. But right now, thats not alot to go on. Theres a site, saying that to other sites said something.
I would like to see the german and dutch sites first, before I even consider the idea.
Update. Theres another site now reporting that someone on the inside let slip that two titles are going to be sold, but the names of which we're not mentioned.
Looks like someone somewhere might have said something after all. Mayhaps there be light for us brothern?
SE has just released the fact that they are now looking activly for other console options besides sony. This could easily tie in with the selling of two titles to make better relationships with companies on with nintendo already, and a possible lead in xbox

Hate to be a cynic, but I agree with Mango. Remember how many false rumors about the Wii circulated because someone from the inside "let something slip?"
From now on I believe press releases by the actual company the rumors concern. Nothing more.
WolfPack - January 12, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
Well, so do I. But when you have lots of leaks coming out, or atleast rumors of leaks. Theres gotta be aleast one hole somewhere.
Negus - January 13, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Eh, I gotta go with Mango and Propagator, seen? Still, part of I wants to believe that there's a hope.

Big update here, brethren:
It's confirmed, SE isn't selling the CT franchise, seen? It was all rumors...
From the Compendium, sight?
SE is NOT selling the Chrono franchise; the rumor mills can shut right up
by ZeaLitY Fri Jan 12 10:27:32 2007
Recently, some quirky, self-published Dutch gaming site proposed that Mistwalker getting the Chrono franchise might be cool. Then, they reported news that SE was selling two unnamed licenses. Fast forward a day and some quirky, self-published Square Enix news site reports that SE is selling Kingdom Hearts and the Chrono series franchise. Fast forward a day and people all over several boards are ranting and raving.
It's just a stupid, idiotic rumor. It is probably perpetuated by the same people who talked about Chrono Glance last year. Don't believe this stuff, even for one second. Square Enix would not sell the flagship Kingdom Hearts label, and there is no other real news source even hinting at the sale of intellectual property. So tell the rumor mills that started this to go straight to hell.
WolfPack - January 15, 2007 07:10 AM (GMT)
But they are still selling two titles.
I wonder which?

Ohwell, two of the most exciting minutes of mu life just passed infront of my eyes. ^^
GmMontex03 - January 17, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
Could you see it though...
Chrono Trigger Reanimation or Chrono Trigger Regeneration
Alezunde - January 21, 2007 08:47 AM (GMT)
I hope to christ this is true. I've all but given up hope on seeing any more Chrono Games.
or System Shock.

I love CT, but I could care less about getting a sequal if it meant I could get a real sequel to my favorite game ever, Deus Ex. And not that Invisible War BS. I'm talking the real deal.

Deus Ex is one of my favorite games ever as well, but I never played the sequel because it seemed rushed. Would you mind comparing and contrasting, Galidan?

Invisible War, while improving on the graphics, fell apart in about just every other respect. Actually, that may too harsh. It isn't a bad game, it just isn't nearly as good as the original. There were several things that hurt it, which I will outline in the following.
One of the problems was the removal of skills. You never improved over the course of the game. Hacking was relegated to the position of being an augmentation, guns never got more accurate, and items always had the same effectiveness. The thing that really bugged me was that you never lose any accuracy from moving. Just point and shoot.
There were no codes or safes to break. You couldn't brute force a keypad lock; you had to find the keycode, and then it is automatically entered without any player assistance upon activating the door.
You couldn't stealth through. The game likes to pretend that you can, but that simply isn't true. You have to go in guns blazing, which brings me to another point of deviation: the ammo. The game has an aggravating system of universal ammo. The explanation for it is great: You carry canisters of nanite laden gas that build bullets in the barrel of the gun. That's cool, but different guns use different amounts of gas. Lets say you blast a security bot with a couple rockets and then switch to your pistol. You no longer have enough gas to fire your gun. Another thing about weapons is that the ability to target various parts of the body have been removed. There are no head shots, either, with the exception being when using the sniper rifle, and that's only when scoped. You can shoot them five times in the head or the foot and it will do the same amount of damage, and the same goes for your own character.
I didn't like the story as much either, but I won't fault it on that. However, there is very little to read. The original had an absolute mountain of miscellaneous material to read, and the void is very noticable in the second game. One other thing that is missing is the inventory system is broken down into a slot system. You have twelve slots with any item taking up one slot, whether it's a pistol or a rocket launcher. Fortunately small items such as bioelectric cells stack.
One thing that is cool is that every gun has an alternate function. For instance, the shotgun also fires smoke grenades. There were also some new weapons mods. One of them keeps glass from shattering and making noise when you shoot it, making for an easier break in.

I didn't say it was bad. It just wasn't as good as the original. If you haven't played it, do so now.
