Title: BIG NEWS REGARDING SEQUAL
Description: Chrono Genisis

Dystopian Rhetoric - April 1, 2004 05:52 PM (GMT)
Apparently Square-Enix have unofficially let slip that a third game, titled Chrono Genisis is in production, probably for the Gamecube. Apparently the game is going be be deep-plotted, cell shaded, and actually tie in with Chrono Trigger (someting Chrono Cross failed to do to any significant degree). The game's star is Aki, or rather 6 of him, as you play him through a number of different dimensions, apparently in one he is the Prince of Guardia and son of Chrono and Marle, in another he is a descendant of Chrono and Ayla living in a desolate future. The different Aki's will have different moral codes and your moral choices as to how they go about their quest will determine which one of the multiple endings you get. While I can understand the possibility that this is a fake thing... it does seem fairly realistic... here's hoping it happens.

EDIT: Sorry. Delete this topic. Its come to my attention that this is almost certainly an April Fools joke. I kick myself in the head for falling for it frankly.

Hmmm... I see. What a shame, it sounded quite interesting. Well, thanx for informing us... too bad it doesn't actually exist but.... oh well. :(

WolfPack - April 2, 2004 04:33 PM (GMT)
LOL. Where the hell did you get that? lol. Thats my bro's story. LOL.

Very interesting indeed... though, just like the last idea; this is also probably a fake. These people really need to stop playing with our emotions... :ph43r:  :ph43r:

Apparently the pictures from the first post are heavily edited screens from the upcoming Dragon Warrior 8.

This pic here....lol I saw the exact same one on the Nintendo Official Forums, its totally fake. I thought Square cancelled Chrono Break or whatever its name was gonna be....Werid...

Apocalypse - April 5, 2004 01:37 AM (GMT)
You are correct... I do visit those forums every once in a while to review games or go into some of those... heated debates concerning video games (who would have known there actually were). So yes, this was found in the Nintendo forums. I believe this to be a April Fools Hoax... but I really can't prove that. Rather than Chrono Break, this fake is called Chrono Storm. Interesting nonetheless...

...I'll never understand why Square gave up on one of its famous games...

Bujiro - April 6, 2004 06:49 AM (GMT)
That makes me sad. I so wish that they would release another part of the series.

TheBrain - April 7, 2004 12:39 AM (GMT)
My hopes are on Masato Kato, after the release of Baten Kaitos... Since Xenogears franchise moved to Konami i hope that after Baten Kaitos release Masato Kato decides to do the new CT. Because Square-Enix is obviously too much busy with their other franchises... and turning them too similar... to sell more... grbl.. brml... <_<
Sorry about the last part...

Knives - April 8, 2004 07:11 PM (GMT)
Since Hironobu Sakaguchi is no longer working on FF, I would really like to see HIM do another Chrono game.

Magus - April 10, 2004 07:39 PM (GMT)
They need to focus crono trigger serises beside final fantasy i mean like at final fantays they made almost 11 game including the one almost coming out final fantasy 12. I would like to know what happend the ended with crono's mon and crono cat they went into the telepod. because it is bugged me. I just want it to continued it that too much no. Life is a bowl of apple which mean just get to crono trigger back. just do a peption or something so we can send it in and maybe the might do it. And also do sercet of evermore i mean seriously i hate waiting for something that happen.

Apocalypse - April 11, 2004 02:41 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... yes, I agree. I find it very odd why Square had two popular game ideas; yet had taken one, and thrown the other in the trash. Chrono Trigger is extremely popular, I really don't understand why Square just didn't continue make games to continue the series. Don't get me wrong, I do like Final Fantasy; but I know that if Final Fantasy wasn't the main focus of Square, we probably would've seen a few more games based on the Chrono Trigger Series.

I believe there was a petition... I don't believe many people knew about it though. What a shame... <_<

Blarg - April 12, 2004 05:38 PM (GMT)
I think Squaresoft should start a new story, that has to do with time travel, and disruptions of the space-time nexus. We already saw Lavos have a Plan A and Plan B, and fail both of them. What else to we need to see... Plan C?

OR...

Maybe we can play through Glenn's story in the 6th century! Or.... something.......

WolfPack - April 13, 2004 03:26 AM (GMT)
I think why square keeps doing the FF series is cause they know its a sure bet of income. But they also could have had that with chrono trigger. I just think they thought CT was a eventual dead end, and FF could go on forever. So from a business point of view its logical that they chose FF as their main series, and have put CT series on the back burner. Even though it sucks.

Blarg - April 13, 2004 07:39 PM (GMT)
I would MUCH rather get Chrono Break than FF12. But that's just me.

4nti_her0 - June 19, 2004 10:23 AM (GMT)
This forum is quite old, but im a new member and im just checking out all the posts, and i agree with blarg id much rather see a NEW chrono game or even better a series of chrono games instead of ff12 i really do like final fantasy but you gotta quit somewere. While on the topic, whats everyones favorite FF game, mines FF7 :o

WolfPack - June 26, 2004 03:19 AM (GMT)
Well, i'm quite sure we all want a Chrono game instead of a FF game, but i don't think square see's it that way. Its like a monarchy thats lost touch with its people. lol.

E_maN - June 26, 2004 04:22 PM (GMT)
i think ff3 (or ff6) is the best one :P but ff5 is rather good too my favroites

GalaxyFalcon - June 26, 2004 10:31 PM (GMT)
I like ff9. But id much rather see chrono break than a new ff game...

WolfPack - June 26, 2004 11:30 PM (GMT)
Well, ya. duh. lol.

GalaxyFalcon - July 3, 2004 04:25 AM (GMT)

WolfPack - July 3, 2004 05:27 AM (GMT)

 That sure rings true, but whatever sells and FF sells better than the chrono series has, they've also stopped make Mana games which is really disappointing I loved Legend of Mana I still play it a lot the whole series was good.

Oh ya and I liked ff9 the best out of the series but 7 makes a close 2nd in that race.

WolfPack - July 3, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
Very true. FF9 was the best with 7th running close. I also loved the mans series... although i never got the chance to legend of mana....

Knives101 - July 4, 2004 07:22 AM (GMT)
 Legend of mana has sucked up hundrededs of hours of my life, it was really good, though You'd be out of luck looking for it now...

WolfPack - July 4, 2004 10:12 PM (GMT)
Ya i know. When i bought my copy of CC in 01, i saw only one copy of cc and one copy of LOM. I chose to get cc over it. I kinda regret that....

Knives101 - July 5, 2004 09:39 AM (GMT)
 Just found out that apparently theres a new Mana game in the works... go fig... you can see a couple shots at Rpgamer.com

firestarterut - July 9, 2004 03:37 AM (GMT)
Doesn't the guy in the screen shot look like a character from DBZ :D

Apocalypse - July 9, 2004 09:41 PM (GMT)
I had noticed that as well... a while ago. I liked the mana series alot... hopefully this one makes up for "Sword of Mana". From the screen shots i'd say this game will likely be on the GBA. ;)

Knives101 - July 10, 2004 01:35 AM (GMT)
 I don't know... those were pretty good quality shots very clear and colorful, it'd be nice to see one on a concole again, see what they could do with it now. Never know, could be squarenixs next gamecube game.

I don't remeber this game being anymore of a hit then CT yet this one has more then 2 games in the series, not to mention I am tired of the FF series. Stories may change but it's the same old concept , yet 10 and 11 have broken that constant no new stuff pattern with the sphere grid and multiplayer options.

warmage_magus - July 12, 2004 03:56 AM (GMT)
I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up yet:

Masato Kato is a team member of Monolith Soft, the people who make XenoSaga and are a division of Namco. There is a Zero chance of the game being released by Square-Enix.

Sorry to burst any bubbles :(

If you're hungering for a sequel, check out a game I've got under production over at: http://www.chronotrigger-dt.net/

The links are broken right now but the downloads section should at least be up by tomorrow

It wasn't that good anyway

WolfPack - July 17, 2004 03:23 AM (GMT)
Really too bad you guys didn't like the sd series. Your loss.

Knives101 - July 17, 2004 06:28 AM (GMT)
 If they didn't like the mana series they obviously didn't play any of the games all the way through, though seiken Densetsu 3(or Secret of Mana 2) had some rather dull endings the overal game was good. Though legend of mana was the ablolute best loved all the background story and costumization and all the little things you could do in that game.

WolfPack - July 17, 2004 10:42 PM (GMT)
I bet. I really regret not being able to play that one.

Oralom - July 20, 2004 04:13 AM (GMT)
Okay listion up people. I maybe new here but I'm not when it comes to games. You may think that they will never come out with another CT/CC game because they are to besy with their FF games. Well thats because they know that a lot of people are dying for another CT/CC game and want to wait on makeing a 3rd game. They will make more money this way. After all of you people give up hope and then a few years later when people start to forget about it. BOOM! They will release a 3rd game and everyone would be like I rember that game! And go out and buy it. Also theres a rumer that they are makeing either an anime seriouse of CT or a live action move of it. Also there is a website that has a bunch of fan made storys. I found on that ties CT with CC really good. So good that I thought it could be its own game. The website is http://www.icybrian.com/fanfic/ they have lots of other fan ficition storys but thats the best CT/CC story I read so far.
Also Legen of Mana was a great game but my al time favorite (not includeing CT) would be EarthBound. I just love that game. They were going to make another EarthBound game for the N64 but it never came. They must be doing the same thing. Waiting for the right moment to release it. Prob when their FF games start becomming SPAM. From the looks of it they are starting to. Not many people are going fo them anymore either. Just like you people they are getting sick of FF games. Speaking of FF. I liked FF1, FF6, FF7, FFT, and I thought FF10 had good graphics but it could have bin better. I thought FF9 wasn't that great. It was way to easy for me. I also thought FFMQ (final fantasy mystic quest) sucked big time and so did FF8. Have any of you notice that in FF8 all the characters that you get are all human? I think I wrote enough for today. Peace Out! B)

Knives101 - July 21, 2004 08:38 AM (GMT)
 Were not sick of the ff games... its just the recent few have been rather stupid, I'm real hopeful for 12, and would like to play 11, but 10 and 10-2 didn't fare so well in my opion yes. The ff games have managed to keep the battle systems interesting I'll give'm that I enjoyed 10s battle system a lot though at times it felt to easy, SOT is supposed to employ some similar things from 10 in thier battle system for any one who was a fan of it.

firestarterut - July 21, 2004 10:50 AM (GMT)
What are you talking about FF8 was one of the best FF games right after FF7

Apocalypse - July 21, 2004 11:31 AM (GMT)
*sigh...* If people can learn to handle the 'aged' graphics; they would easily see that most of the older FFs were much better than the more-recent ones. That series has been going downhill... yet S.E. still clings to it like a life-support. They really should try another games based off of CT... but I feel they never will.
