Title: Submit Your Tech Ideas!

Knives101 - March 25, 2004 03:53 AM (GMT)
:huh: Thought I'd post a spot where people can just menchon all their wacky ideas for techs Like;

Robo tech; Titanic Jump rope(couldn't think of anything more explanitory), Robo shoots both his arms into the ground directly below him anchors them and jumps high in to the air using his chain arms and force to rip the anchored ground out and slam it on the enemy.(maybe he could do a flip or something in the air to add some spice.)

Marle; Pearl Ice age; Marle sends giant frozen, crystal whatever ice balls at the enemy from all directions, and I mean lots of themfrosty spheres.

Alya; Giants clap(names just don't come easy to me); Alya graps two humungus, biggest of the big, I mean texan big chunks of earth one in each hand and just slaps them together, squishing the enemy in the center.

Chrono; Electric rush; chrono zaps himself with a huge lighting bolt, and in a flash chrono turns into a lighting bolt and flys and the enemy targeted, all you see here his a lighting bolt from where chrono was standing fly at the enemy, and after that clears you see chrono on the other side of the enemy with his sword drawn in a post slash stance. B)

Jack - March 25, 2004 04:33 AM (GMT)
Yay for Knives101! I was going to make a thred on this but I have been way to busy, thanks :D

I wrote up a whole thing for the new battle system as added special moves but since the idea was scraped I guess we can add more techs ;)

Here are some ideas I have
-Chrono does a Flail thing, he creats a lightingbolt and sticks it to his katana, then whirls it around really fast (it is a big lighting ball on a lighing string attatched to the katana)

-Magus does a Shotgun type tech: He creates 3 basketball sized orbs (blue, black and purple swirls that look like they are in a glass orb) then 1 by 1 he summons the orbs infront of him and punches the orbs shattering them in the direction of the enemy, looking liek a shotgun of about 10 flying peices of energy. He does this 3 times.

-Marle does a multishot bow attack where she shoots about 5 arrows in sucession that are covred with ice, when the hit they explode in shards.

I also hope that brain will code staying arrows, where if someone gets an arrow in them, it stays for about 3 battle turns. Just like ChaosUTK3

----
Thats all I really can type for right now, I have a ton more though :).

Knives101 - March 25, 2004 09:16 AM (GMT)
Yay for me.

Sweet magus move, send pieces of them or just shatter them and send Big Shadow based beams. :D

Lucca Robo Double tech;(Napalm Cannon) this may be a bit much.. but it sounds cool to me. Robo could open up and turn in to a huge turrent cannon, Lucca could load her Napalm grenades into Robo and Robo could follow suit and fire them for big explosions.(I like big explosiveness in games.)

Magus, chrono, frog triple tech; (Matter Frustration) Magus charges up and fires a big Dark Bomb, and Chrono And frog jump in and out of this dark bomb a bunch of times really fast pulling off a sorta explosive Confusion tech.
;)

John - March 26, 2004 09:11 AM (GMT)
Yay for Knives!

Knives101 - March 26, 2004 09:14 AM (GMT)
Love toss'n out ideas.

Okay I menchon'd this in another section but what the heck.
Marle Chrono Lucca Triple tech; Antipode Slash...) They showed this in the Ps anime intro of CT, Marle and Lucca run forward and each toss a huge funnel like attack on opposite sides of the enemy and the Chrono Leaps out from be hind them and slices straight down the evil thing and kaboom it goes.

Magus Tech; Astral Mine) its a spell triggered ability, if the enemy trys to cast a spell it cancels the spell and hits them for some damage. Mages could send out a black wave in an area around him so the enemys would have to be postion a certan distance away. It would surround the enemy in a black shell witch would then encompass them end stay on them for a certan amount of turns, it would look like a evil aura kind a thing till it dissapates. :P

John - March 26, 2004 09:30 AM (GMT)
I'm liking the Antipode Slash thing.

And the napalm cannon.

Heck, why not just do that in real life? Minus Robo and some purple haired nerd.

-John

Knives101 - March 27, 2004 02:45 AM (GMT)
 Hello

Frog Tech; Mountain Splitter) its that move Frog does to split the mountain to get to Magus's place.

Chrono magus tech; Holy Matter; CHrono and Magus jump to each side of the screen and float charging up and blaste the enemy with half a luminare that resembles dark matter but with lightning bolts comming out of it. ;)

Apocalypse - March 27, 2004 06:30 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... i'm surprised I didn't see this post earlier! Well, I must admit; I like these ideas... ALOT! I have donations of my own to add...

Tornado Flash- Crono Casts Lightning Upon Robo, Frog, and himself. After that, Robo grabs Frog and Chrono and then swings them around causing a tornado of lightning to be formed. They move about the battle area afflicting major damage to any nearby enemies. To finish off the attack, Robo then throws Crono and Frog; and they both do a "spire-like" move.

Very powerful move indeed. B)

WolfPack - March 27, 2004 10:25 PM (GMT)
Some seriously cool ideas in there. I like all the ideas for the new techs. Heres a few of mine own.

Lightning Spin - Just like fire spin and ice spin. It should have been in there in the first place even though the other 2 were double techs. (chrono)

Rocket Slash - Robo opens up a rocket engine and Chrono jumps on him and they slash into someone. (robo, chrono) (like a slash, robotackle combo)

Tripple Matter - Lightning 2, Fire 2, and Ice 2 (or Watter 2). Requires just about anyone, Chrono Magus, Lucca, Marle, or Frog. Magus can take on one of the 3 rolls if some else is missing.

Um....I'm kinda brain dead right now so i'll come up with a few more later.

Knives - March 27, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
Here's mine, building on something the other Knives mentioned:

(Chrono and Frog)
Hero Break

REQUIREMENTS:
Chrono: Lightning2
Frog: Frog Squash

SUMMARY: Chrono sends a ball of lightning to an enemy, which hovers above their head. Frog summons Cyrus' ghost and the two do an X Strike on the lightning ball, which discharges huge amounts of electricity into the enemy's body.

I think it would be pretty sweet. Also having maybe a summon spell here and there would be rockin'. Not too much though like FF, since CT is a diff game, after all. I mean like maybe a few really costly, one-time-per-battle spells that you get at very high levels. Like a treat for people who take the time to lvl up their characters that high.

The Rocket Slash, Electric Rush, and Antipode Slash things are also very cool.

Great thread!

WolfPack - March 28, 2004 01:57 AM (GMT)
Hey! Someone like my idea! Awsome!

Apocalypse - March 28, 2004 03:41 AM (GMT)
One more ability... this one is different though, as it requires MULTIPLE abilities to be known by all three of the characters.

Catastrophic - A triple tech. A mixture of Dark Matter, Black hole, Luminaire, confusion, Area Bomb, and Robo Tackle.

Requires: Magus, Crono, and Robo.

Let me explain this attack in great detail:

To begin the attack; Dark Matter is cast, then powered further by Area bomb, and then obliterates the enemies with a luminaire. After that, Robo and Crono (after being successfully charged with electrical energy (luminaire) rush in to do a mixture of Confusion, and Robo Tackle. To end this extremely powerful attack; the enemies are then sucked into a blackhole, and then thrown into the sun.

This attack would be available to you as one of the hidden "Super-techs". These would only be useable at a particular level, and would only be accesible via equiping a certain item. Damage by this attack (and other "super-techs") should be beyond the damage of any other attacks... and would be useable only once per fight. Most of this attack would be seen as a normal tech... but the part with the enemy being thrown (via the blackhole) into the sun may be done in a sequence similar to summons from the Final Fantasy series (if wanted).

Jack - March 28, 2004 04:24 AM (GMT)
I think that this thred will be the one where more of the ideas than the other ones are implimented.

GalaxyFalcon - March 28, 2004 06:49 AM (GMT)
Here is one more for the pot =) :

Darklight - A combonation of Luminiare And Dark Matter, dealing a massive ammount of dammage, considering Luminire and Dark matter are very powerfull.
THe spirte for it would look awsome ...:)

Actually ithought of somthing. Luminaire is as powerfull as magus's more powerfull attacks...but crono has like 30 less magic attack. So really luminaire is the most powerfull attack in the game. lol. anyway there are a lot of good ideas.

Jack - March 28, 2004 04:36 PM (GMT)
GalaxyFalcon, that last one was a very good idea, good name and a good idea, it will probally go in as a special tech you get.

LegacyCrono - March 28, 2004 05:32 PM (GMT)

GalaxyFalcon - March 28, 2004 06:48 PM (GMT)
Seriously? ahahahaha Awsome! :>

Apocalypse - March 29, 2004 03:25 AM (GMT)
Well Legacy, after looking over your ideas submitted for techs... I must say; they are relevant! Besides the wierd statement or two, you got some decent ideas there! I have a feeling that this particular topic will have the best ideas coming out of it...

Guest - March 29, 2004 03:45 AM (GMT)
You understood wha he said?

Knives101 - March 29, 2004 06:14 AM (GMT)
 Cool moves, well the ones I could understand. Didn't think this thread was going to be this popular.

Chrono; Breaker Slash; the upgraded version of the original slash but this one tears the ground apart while it heads toward the enemy, once it hits it lets out a huge lighting explosion.

Magus; Hell Geyser- magus rips into the ground sending the damend souls stuck under the ground to attack the enemy, they swirl around the enemy then garb them and pull them into a back into the ground,(not instant kill move) then you can see either blood or battle action indicators and then the enemy comes out with a chunk of their life tooken out.

Ayla Chrono and Frog; Bumb rush) could be a confusion style attack, chrono frog and Alya jump at the enemy and land on different sides but really close the enemy, then all start pummelling the enemy into the ground, you see chunks of ground and dust fly out from where their fighting, then leap back at the end of it.
;)

Apocalypse - March 31, 2004 12:24 AM (GMT)
Knives, in your last reply; there is one out of the three ideas that seems a little... off. Your idea for Bumb rush seems a little... out of character. I can definentally see Ayla bashing some enemy into the ground; but Frog and Crono's physical attacks are pretty much built around slashing the enemy... rather than fist to fist contact.

If there is to be anything for those three characters, I recommend this:

Grand Slasher Toss: Crono Charges both Frog's and his sword, and then Ayla does her "tornado-move". The move will send Crono and Frog flying around in a circle; As Ayla moves towards an enemy, Crono and Frog (while still flying) will be slashing the enemies as they fly by them. To end the attack, Frog's sword will then start glowing, and then let out a blast of energy into the air (quite similar to the blast that opened the mountain). At that point, a wave of energy will then resonate from where Frog is standing (and spread throughout the screen), causing massive damage to enemies.

Knives - March 31, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the bumb rush does seem a bit out of place. What about Ayla ripping a chunk out of the ground, and then Frog and Crono slashing it into pieces that rain down on all the enemies?

Knives101 - March 31, 2004 05:45 AM (GMT)
 That had crossed my mind but I threw it out anyway. Sorry if it didn't work. How 'bout this just making it a double tech between Alya and Robo, they both use thier fists.

I like knives idea too. Call it Rainning rumble or something along that lines.

Suprisingly this is one of the few Rpgs without a poison attack(maybe thats why I liked it so much) in the game for the good guys and the bad guys. So heres one cause I know were negleting those little imps that so love to run onto the screen and stick thier toungs at us.
Poison slobber; the enemy runs up to the character licks them and jumps back and your poisoned. nothing big but I didn't want to leave them out.

Robo tech; Satalite Arm; Once you pull off the tech you get a close-up of Robo and a little entenna comes out of his head and a red light starts to pulse at the top of the entenna. Pan to outter space aka earth or whatevers orbit. a satalite comes into view and turns to face the screen and its a mechanical fist(Resembeling robos of course) it turns to face the planet and jets start to go off in the back of it sending it hurtlling toward the planet, pan back to battle and above the enemy the fist appears and comes down and smashes them for huge amounts of damage.(I know this resembles a metoer attack but it has its twist)

Ayla tech: Home Run swing; Okay I expect to get yelled at for this one but what the hell. Okay Alya walks up to the enemy and punches them dizzying them, then punches the ground and out of nowhere her (drum roll please) her club that you see in all the pictures falls down and she catches it in her hand, runs up and takes a huge swing at the enemy sending them flying into a mountain for huge damage. :P

GalaxyFalcon - March 31, 2004 10:08 PM (GMT)
Ok, well, lol i hate destroying other peoples ideas. UM, one i think obvious problem with Robo's Sattelitle Arm signal attack, is that what the hell would you do in 65,000,000 or 12,000 or even 600 when there ARE no sattelites?

Another point i was thinking of is that Frog Seriously looses his edge in the game by the end. (I mean come on, Frog Squash kinda sucks. And he doesnt have very good magic stats, although his phs attack his pretty good.) We should do somthing about his Techs. but i think most of his duel techs are really good. (I.E. One of my favorites, Cure Wave, which heals the party for full.) So ill try to come up with some new ideas for frog- off had.

Frog- Guardian; Frog Holds the Masamune above his head, where it changes into a sword of light (aka, its glowing really bright and maybe there are beams of light shooting out or somthing to try an make it look cool.) Then You see Masa and Mune's shadows, or a faint image of them or somthing, then it disspaerars and frog leaps, or hops, over to the enmy and and slahes him really bad.
Or, instead of one enemy, light beams come from above and hit all enemies.

One issue with this is Frog's Magic really sucks, so it would have to be like a last tech in order to make it seem/act more powerfull.
(I dunno, maybe it could replace that drat frog squash.)

Magus- Dark Gate; should prolly have this when you get him. A spinning sphere of red and black opens up bellow a single enemy, and red tiny beams of red light shoot up in spurts then everything fades and the damage is dealt to the enemy.

ok well anyway, hope somthing there sounds good. lol.

Knives101 - April 1, 2004 12:09 AM (GMT)
 I think ya nuked my idea in to linear a fashion, theres always two ways around something. What if a time portal opened up in earths atmosphere orbit whatever and the arm came out of that then continude with the move.(I really liked that satalite arm idea).

Your right though frogs later moves suck mucha lucha.

Frog: Nirvana Strike; why not, its already in the game as a one time seen attack. Cyrus pulls it off onthe Frog king. 'Cept this time it could be frog pulling it as sorta to honor Cyrus. Frog points his sword infront of him and leaps at the enemy again and again stabbing them multiple times. Frog could learn this when he powers up the masamune at Cyrus's grave.(Secret tech you only get if you do that mission.)

Lucca; Epoch Cannon; this is a iffy attack depending on your opion of what happend to the epoch after you get it back from the one-eyed dork who kills him self in that battle on the epoch...I don't remember his name.(DOlph or something).
Well this would have to be a secret attack only available when you have the epoch fully finished... I guess you could take the epoch and lucca back to her parents haver her dad take a look at it then some scenes of her and her dad working on it and then get the tech. Well anyway to the tech; Lucca pulls out a remote that summons the epoch down she jumps in it and flys to a extremely high altitude and turns around and begins to plummit while firing the two lazers on the epoch at the enemy then pull up and pan down to the enemy being wasted by the blasts then you just see lucca appear back at her place.

WolfPack - April 2, 2004 04:56 PM (GMT)
Whoa, lots of ideas. A lot of them sound cool too. I agree that frogs techs should be fix some how. Like instaed of making frog sqush more effective with lower HP, make it more effective with greater HP.

Ok, thats all i got time for. We're leaving to head to Oragon for just under 2 weeks so we'll be gone a while. I'll post some of my killer ideas when I get back.

Knives101 - April 3, 2004 06:56 AM (GMT)
 Suprised nobodys yelled at me about using Alyas club.

Alya; Swarm; okay for those of you think that spells have to be required to work in certan timelines let me remind you that Alya can summon a T-rex tail where ever she is, at any point and time, spells arn't linear.(Don't mean to be a jerk sorry.) Okay I had to say that just so you might give this spell some more thought. Alya screams and runs off stage you hear some battling and some dinosaurs screams then Alya jumps back on stage with this huge egg, she sets the egg down and jumps and smash the top of the egg with her fists, then all these little dinos jump out and start munchen on the enemy, this takes a few seconds then alya jumps over to each of the little buggers still munching on the enemy and boots them off the stage, as well as the left over egg bottom. ;)

Frog Lucca; Double tech, Searing Blade; Frog lifts up his sword and lucca begins to send huge flames at the sword super heating it. Then frog jumps at the selected enemy and slashes with fire(and pyhsical) Damage, his flaming slash sends out a huge wave of fire to some collateral damage to the enemys within a vicinity of the slashed enemy. :P

Oh, well...I lost two days makin' these list...My brain need rest.Good bye, guys.I send the Lucca list and Marle list on next post.
B) Now i will relax...

Dystopian Rhetoric - April 4, 2004 10:33 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... The techs in Chrono Trigger were intentionally well balanced, introducing new ones, while it may seem fun, could unbalance the game. For example one of Magus' weaknesses was that he lacked Dual Techs, and yet, here you've given him some. I think this whole issue should be avoided entirely to be perfectly honest.

Apocalypse - April 4, 2004 11:01 PM (GMT)
You do sort of have a point... but we are not entirely wrong either. Magus DID have one triple tech... though I never got it myself...

These ideas don't really impact the game much, they only add a little bit of variety to the battle aspect of the game. Keep in mind, the project wants to take ideas already existant in Chrono Trigger, but then attempt to improve upon those ideas (while keeping it as similar as possible). I agree, we can't have all of these techs added... but perhaps a good few of them may be added as secret techs, and perhaps a few others may be added as techs gotten at higher levels.

I happen to like the "rock idea". With this, you can still have traditional techs... but with the equiping of particular rocks; you may have some new ones as well. In this manner, pretty much everyone should be happy with that system. On another note, keep in mind that most of the newer techs are based upon the older ones... such as a mixture of two already existing spells; Dark Bomb, and Luminaire. Looking at it that way, these double/triple techs are not truly entirely new... as they are merely a combination of already existant techs. B)

As for you Legacy... well, I must admit... some of that I didn't understand very well. Not all of the ideas are bad though... I really think you should try to type in a more... understandable way... no offence. :ph43r:

Knives101 - April 5, 2004 10:21 PM (GMT)
Magus triple tech was given by the black rock, and it was between Marle Lucca and Magus, I think. ALso magus deserves some moves, I know it was his weakness but it always left a bit of a bad taste that he didn't have a couple multi people moves.

Chrono, Robo double tech; Crash Dummy) this is a bit if a wierd one I'm just tossing to see if anyone like it. OKay Chrono jumps off screen and drives up in the speeder bike, then robo jumps on the front bumper of the speeder bike, they then drive at high speeds in and out of the screen ramming the enemy multiple times with Robos big metal butt.

Alya, Frog double tech; Fast ball special) I thought if anyone liked the alya idea of using the club for one move I thought I might menchon this. Frog jumps to the other side of the screen and grabs the enemy with his toung and starts to swing them over his head in a circle, Alya walks to a perpendicular spot on the opposite side of the screen and punches the ground and her club falls out of nowhere and she catches it, Frog then speeds up his swinging of the enemy and flings it towards Alya she then base ball swings it off the stage for huge damage.

Apocalypse - April 6, 2004 01:56 AM (GMT)
Yea... Magus does deserve a few more techs; but I really think he shouldn't have that many either. I think he should at least have less than the other characters as an... emphasis on the fact that he is more of a loner.

As for your mentioned Techs... no offence, but I don't really like them. They just don't seem like techs you would see in Chrono Trigger... especially the first one. On a side note, I would like to mention that most of us seem to be talking about the... "Ultimate Techs". What we have failed to acknowledge are the "lesser techs". Obviously, these techs would be the weaker ones (mostly double tech) that are powerful... but not particularly the most powerful out of the bunch. Anyway, I'll post one of my ideas for these techs...

"ICE SLASHER" Marle + Crono -- A rather simple attack involving Marle and Crono. Marle casts ice upon Chrono's sword (or the ground), and then Crono uses his slash tech. Upon using the slash tech, the slash tech is multiplied enough to hit all enemies on the screen, and is given added power by the addition of the flying ice as the slash cracks through the ice.

Sorry.... just trying to give my ideas a 3D feel to'em cause the battle system was supposed to be like CC. That and I like wierd and wild spells, things that just get you by suprise and don't always rehash old moves or at least put twists on them.
My bad. ;)

No problem at all with new ideas, just try to stick to attacks that seem a bit more... possible in Chrono Trigger. For example, in the first part of the move (in the first one you mentioned) Chrono rides in on the speeder bike. That part alone seems a bit off since Chrono does not have access to the bike outside of the future, also; he leaves it at the race course as well. The second Tech was a little bit better.... but still out of character since I really can't see Frog actually grabbing a... (dinosaur for example) with his toungue, and the Ayla hitting it with a wooden club such as you would in Baseball. I don't think Frog's tongue can really... um... support THAT much weight, nor do I think that Ayla could do much damage with a club against such enemies, or have the understanding of baseball; for that matter.

No ideas are bad knives... it's all about making them fit into the original "feel" of Chrono Trigger. ;)

'Kay.... I don't exactly understand what the boundrys are for moves but I'll bite.
(I also go by the art pics witch is probably a bad idea on my part but eh... well most not the game cover but most, and there is a pic that showed the speeder bike in the prehistoric I believe, it the one where chrono alya and robo are all taking a snooze by the fire and are being watched by all sorts of enemys.)
also I pointed out early in this thread that alya can call a dinosaur to any point in time, dino tail was the move I think.. so I'm not sure if anything and everything has to be based in specific times. I'm being a bit pushy sorry.

Marle; Frost Javelin) This would be a weaker move gained probably early on in lv's it being a ice move though i'd say around lv 30... anyway marle grips her crossbow close to her side and charges up turing the arow thats cocked into a huge ice arow, she fires and it does damage...thats really all there is.

Frog; Geyser; another weak move. all that would happen is frog raises his hand and it might glow blue a bit and then a big or semi big geyser shoots out from under the enemy knocking them over. ;)

Good ideas Knives, those are pretty good! We really shouldn't focus so much on the "ultimate techs", because then we'll have nothing to work with when it comes to the more... "basic techs". We gotta try to balance that out a bit...

Double Tech (Robo-Lucca) "Heat Bash":
- A rather simple attack. Mix fire one and Robo tackle and you have that attack. Lucca casts fire on Robo setting him aflame. Robo then uses his robo tackle (while on fire) upon a single enemy. Upon contact with the enemy there will be a small explosion.

 I know..... its just more fun to think of different painfull ways to pummell the enemy, and more exciting than discribing some simple moves.

Chrono, Alya; Aging Thunder) this would be a different version of a move I suggested earlier "Electric rush" I think, but this time it would be a multi hit and it would be Alya doing the bashing. Okay Chrono floats and then Zaps ALya with a lightning bolt, sending her into a frenzy then she rushes at the enemy chosen and does a lightning punch to he then the next closes enemy and then the next and so on, the attack decreasing in damage as it goes on to each enemy.

Lucca; Pozo Bomb) this could be a weaker attack I suppose. Lucca seems to be the hardest in my opion to think of techs... anyway I just wanted to suggest a pozo attack 'cause I thought the pozo dance attack was funny. Okay this could be its own attack or a random attack when you pull off napalm grenade, Instead of a flaming grenade lucca will pull out a fluffy Pozo doll, bounce it in her hand for a second or two and then toss it at the enemy and it explodes... I also thought of a different way this attack could go off, she could pull the doll out and wind it up in the back, then set it down and let it waddle toward the enemy and once it reaches a close distance to the enemy its eyes glow red and it explodes.

Wow... not bad Knives, not bad at all! I happen to be particularly fond of the "Pozo Bomb" ideaSo many great ideas in this post... it really makes me wonder which ones would get chosen...

 Thanxs. I've got a lot of ideas some.. not so good like the fastballspecial, after a few look overs it does sound a bit odd. Though I would like to see a move with damned club.

Alya; The Club) Alya punches the ground and her club drops from the middle of nowhere and she catches runs up leaps and slams the enemy on the head and hitting them so hard it knocks the enemy into the qround. (I will think of a good move for that damn club!)

Magus; Dark Star) magus flys up and moves his arms behind his head sorta and charges up a shadow ball and lets loose a huge darkness beam attack that just shreads one enemy.(its one enemy so its weaker than my usual suggesting.
