Ok so i started CT over again about a week ago, and now im stuck at the battle with Giga Gaia....user posted image

anytips on how to beat this guy? 0_o he is INSANE, i remember beating him like years ago, but have forgotten my strategy. I dont want to use a walkthrough so if anyone would be as kind to help me out! kthnxbye

Confuuuuse

XD

if you dont have Luminiare use that.... ^.^

Left hand first, then right, then head ^^ XD

Pretty much all I can say o.o

I recently started over again as well! ^^

Beat it already though.. It was the FIRST time I'd beaten it on SNES ^^ Felt so much better! XD

Galidan - October 10, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
I beat him without either confuse or luminaire. If I remember correctly, I used falcon hit on his hands to knock them out. Once they're gone, just beat on his head until his hands regenerate and start the process over.

Stoney - October 10, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
That's exactly the strategy I use, Galidan. Falcon Hit is your best friend during that battle. Crono + Ayla r0xx0rs. :D

NOTE: The same strategy can also be applied to Queen Zeal when you fight her on the Black Omen! Fun fun fun, and it makes the battle less insanely difficult.

Alezunde - October 10, 2005 11:20 AM (GMT)
I have never thought Giga Gaia was a difficult boss. :(
In fact, I've always thought it was the most fun boss battle, because he isn't hard, and he is a very cool-looking boss.
I like to use Crono, Frog, and Robo, and their double and triple techs. (Especially X-Strike and Triple Raid. Spire and Sword Stream are also very nice.
But if you have Luminaire you can make incredibly short work of this boss. (It just takes a bit of leveling up -- kill all the Rubble!)

-Alezunde

P.S. You want insane? Mother Brain gave me such trouble you wouldn't believe! Mother Brain uses an attack that gets increasingly more powerful with each turn, until it is too powerful to survive, no matter what you do.

... then I figured out that you hit her with everything that you have at the very beginning, and she's a piece of cake. (Use lots of ultimates -- I used Crono, Frog, and Robo for this battle as well.)

Son of Sun is also a nasty son of a --

BrownMan - October 10, 2005 01:00 PM (GMT)
wow, i guess i havent leveld up sufficiently enough
right when the battle starts, giga does 2 moves, that bring my party down to 200/100. :ph43r:
then, I use RObos heal beam, then get the frog and crono to attack. :| i heal once again.

but after a while a skip a loop of healing and giga does taht same double move and my party dies :|

Stoney - October 11, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
Hmmm...what IS the optimal level-up requirement for facing that boss? I can't remember what levels I was at last time I fought him, but I remembered killing him in less than 10 turns...

Alezunde: Son of Sun is easy if you figure out his pattern. The flame that damages him will move one space clockwise on his flame wheel every time he spins it, or at least it does whenever I play against him. :D

Mother Brain? *scoffs* She's EASY. That is, she was easy every time I've ever fought her, probably because my strategy with bosses is usually to hit them hard n' fast and overwhelm them with sheer force ASAP, so I never waited around for her attack to get powerful. I bring along Magus, Crono & Robo to the fight, and let her have a few Dark Matters and Luminaires at the very start of the battle while Robo played healer. She's always died within, like, 5 turns. The first time I fought and beat her, I thought to myself, "Well, that was anticlimactic." :P

I dunno, I guess I can see how she might be more difficult if you waste time casting stat-up spells like Haste at the start of the battle, but I never did, so it was no problem for me. (There's also the fact that Robo's side-quest was usually one of the last ones I did, so maybe I was always absurdly over-leveled for the encounter.)

Now, Queen Zeal...THERE is a fight that is insane. She's even more annoying than Lavos, if you can believe that. All it takes is one turn for her to completely wipe out at least one party member (drop their HP and MP to zero, then physically attack them to kill them). Thank the Entity for Elixirs, and Marle's Life 2 spell. :D

Galidan - October 12, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
None of these guys were hard. The only boss I remember having a problem with was the first Golem, and you aren't supposed to beat him.

/Galidan

Stoney - October 13, 2005 06:47 AM (GMT)
Oh YEAH? Well, what about Lavos when you face his shell the first time in Zeal? Unless you're playing New Game Plus, he kills your whole party with one attack! That is a hard battle. Impossible to win at first, too.

I've always wondered what would happen if your party beat Lavos's shell in that battle on the first game, and not New Game Plus. Would it still cause you to get that special ending? I think I'll go find out... *activates Game Genie*

Alezunde - October 13, 2005 02:37 PM (GMT)
Well, none of the bosses are difficult for me anymore.
Chrono Trigger isn't a very hard RPG -- only the first time through is it really challenging -- but once you know the secret to each boss, it's easy to beat them.

Brownman:
The easy way to solve your problem is dilligence!
Never skip a healing loop.

Stoney:
I've always thought that Son of Sun randomized the flame, which is what makes that boss battle so difficult.
Next time I play through the game, I think I'll check that out.

WolfPack - October 22, 2005 06:26 PM (GMT)
I too believe I shall re-start a new game.

Queen zeal isn't that difficult, as loing as you only attack the head. (although you can steal nifty prism equipment from her hands...) Confuse- or triplekick-like attacks usually do a nice job.

I agree with Galidan on the Golem :ph43r:

I don't even think of that as a battle, seeing as I die before getting an attack in.

Anyways, since this is the playing CT over again thread, I thought i'd mention that falcon just played it again. Beat the thing in like 4 or 5 days.

Lashiec - December 8, 2005 04:52 AM (GMT)
Azelunde is right, just fight fight heal, fight fight heal. Just make sure you don't run out of means to heal your party and you should be able to just wear him down.

I've hurd rumors of the old school FFs being released on NBG either advanced or ds, but you know what that could turn into right? a rerelease of Chrono Trigger for the DS!
"Take Crono where you go. Stick him in your back pack! Stick him in your purse! Stick him in your pocket! You can even stick him up... well leave that for you to decide. Pass him around! Can't fight now? save and fight later in the middle of a doungeon. Boss too hard? Get your friend to beet him on the car ride to school. Now in 32 bit color and 3d! 'friend to beat lavos sold separatley'"
