Title: I need help and advice with my pc
Description: Its so messed up I dont know what to do!

I think my hard drive is partly fried and here are reasons I think this.

1. My computer every once in a while likes to shut off the main hard drive and use the secondary one which disables the use of my other drives (Disk floppy ect...)

2.When im in the middle of an application, my computer likes to run things like scan disk and anti virus. I thought i figured this out by checking if there is a disc in the drive but that isnt it.

3. My computer likes to restart on its own, that is the funnest part. I could be in the middle of something, and without warning i just restarts no questions asked.

I am using windows ME edition so if anyone has any advice or comments I would greatly appriciate them.

1.Why don't you move all your important stuff to your second hd and then reinstall windows me(you do have the installation disc right?)and move everything back?

or

2.Make a hd image of ur 1st drive with a program like Norton Ghost and write it to your second drive?

3.Give me $100000 dollars

your should also run scandisk/defragmenter/antivirus and that kinda stuff
oh and check the startup and the schedule to see if you scheduled either scandisc or nav to run at a certain time.

but i'm not really that good with computers tho <_<

While this thread is revived I might go ahead and say I'm reformatting tomorrow. o_O

I reformat every 30 days, so I never have to register windows... and I've always got a super fast computer

WolfPack - November 20, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
lol. That seems like a bit of a pain to do every 30 days.

Having to wipe your hdd and then reinstall everything once a month seems like the biggest pain since navigating the streets of Seattle. Argh. The place is cool, but none of the roads go anywhere you think they should.
