ATI Technologies has today announced that it has entered into a technology agreement with Microsoft. Specific details of the agreement have not been revealed at this time, but ATI has stated that it will be developing custom, leading-edge graphics technologies for use in future Xbox products and services.
"We're combining Microsoft's vision, software experience, and R&D resources with ATI's pioneering leadership in graphics technologies to create innovative future Xbox products and services that meet the lifestyle needs of consumers in the digital decade," said Robbie Bach, senior vice president of the home and entertainment division at Microsoft. "We selected ATI after reviewing the top graphics technologies in development and determining that ATI's technical vision fits perfectly with the future direction of the Xbox."
"Microsoft shares our passion for cutting-edge innovation," said K. Y. Ho, chairman and chief executive officer, ATI Technologies. "Our success working with Microsoft in the past gives us great confidence as we move forward, and our broad experience and wealth of engineering resources will ensure that we deliver. This agreement cements ATI's position as the prime graphics supplier for the future of the games industry."

you see the problem with THIS is that, although ATI is turning out a number of advanced chipsets, still, every 3 months or so, they throw out a newer, better, one. and soon, the x-box 2's graphics will seem outdated, unless they release an upgrade for it, which is very doubtful. Like many consoles this poses a problem seeing that the computers are always advancing much faster and further than the consoles themselves and thus they have to start throwing out a new product more often to keep up with the ever growing technology industry.

lol!
I think PS/2 has the worst controllers. Never liked the feel the them, and I hate the stupid vibrators even more. How does a controller vibrating make it more realistic? No matter what you do it vibrates. If you get shot in real life your hands arent going to vibrate...hell in most games even jumping causes it to vibrate...really a useless addition to control pads.

the idea is "force feedback", microsoft's buzzword. just some sort of tactile feedback(it moves, you feel it), no matter how cheesy it is, its made the confroller an input AND output device! :o
