Fergie is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ville Valo - November 13, 2004 10:36 PM (GMT)
They are not entitled of the word Music at all... Their song's don't have the true meaning of joy or pain and stuff like that and if a band don't have that in song's then what kind of a band are they then??? That's right, the same kind of band like the GSB/BSB
Purple Ranger 14 - November 14, 2004 05:20 AM (GMT)
Music doesn't always have to be about that. It can be about having a great time or experiencing an incredible feeling.

Mad All Over The World
The Black Eyed Peas like to joke that they don't take breaks - they take breaths.
After all, the group hasn't really come up for air since the surprise breakthrough of their last LP, Elephunk. In the two years since the release of that album - which yielded the hits "Where Is the Love?," "Let's Get It Started" and "Hey Mama" - the Peas have been absolutely everywhere: in the theme song for the NBA, commercials for Best Buy, characters in "Urbz: Sims in the City," guests at award shows and music festivals, a featured act at voter-registration drives and tsunami-relief concerts, in personal pages on MySpace, on tour with artists ranging from N.E.R.D. to Dave Matthews Band to Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera - they're even opening up for the Rolling Stones later this year. And that's not a complete list.
With barely a pause for breath (well, maybe one), a brand new Peas LP, Monkey Business, will arrive in stores on June 7. The question is: How on earth did the Black Eyed Peas find the time to record an album?
Part of the answer lies in where on earth they've been in the past two years. Monkey Business was recorded during stolen moments on tour, in Los Angeles and London, in Berlin and Brazil. And fittingly enough, it sounds "mad all over the place," as Will.I.Am describes it, jumping from "bossa nova to '80s to drum'n'bass to surf-rock to hip-hop."
Elephunk
(Interscope) A new Peas LP was not a part of the group's game plan for 2005 - this was to be the year the individual members would work on their own projects. Will has been producing other artists in his studio and starting his own label, will.i.am Music Group, which is putting out a new album from Macy Gray (which Will appears on) in the fall. Fergie, Apl.de.Ap and Taboo planned on making solo albums - and they still do. But since the band's popularity was peaking, the Peas didn't want to risk losing momentum, so writing and recording an album was added to their already jam-packed schedule.
"We're always open for challenges," Will says. "You never know what situations you're going to be in and the demands you're going to have to meet - the vibe that you're in to even have the headspace to step up to that request. We're one of those groups that, whatever the obstacle is, we're going to put our best foot forward and figure out the way across it, under it, over it, or through it. Hell, it's just an obstacle, right?"
"We had all this creative energy," Fergie chimes in. "We wanted to spill it out and go with it. It was hard for me to get used to writing and recording on the road, because usually I'm doing studio time all at once, and then touring all at once. This was a big challenge, but it turned out to be this creative waterfall which just fell down into this huge ocean that is Monkey Business."
The Peas aren't sailing that ocean alone: A quartet of J's - Justin, Jack Johnson, John Legend and even James Brown - dip an oar in, as does Sting. Different songs are snapshots of which cities they were in, what was inspiring them and who they were hanging out with at the moment. "We have a portable studio that I take on the road," Will says. "We record in airplanes, trains, hotel rooms, cathedrals. If we wanted to sneak in Notre Dame, we'd record up in that."
There's nothing from Notre Dame, but the album is loaded with travelogue from other places. The surf in Brazil and bullet trains of Japan reminded Will of Dick Dale's "Miserlou" guitar riff, so he samples it in "Pump It." The bhangra clubs in London become the Miami bass/ Bollywood fusion of "Don't Phunk with My Heart," as Fergie quotes Lisa Lisa's 1985 hit "I Wonder If I Take You Home."

Feeling the Phunk
The new album from the Black Eyed Peas, Monkey Business, just hit stores on Tuesday, and anticipation for the release may have helped the Peas' hit disc Elephunk jump ahead 20 positions to #82. The album performed to the tune of 14,300 and then some, which translates to a 38 percent retail revving.

GIRLS ON TOP OF THE CHARTS AGAIN
MARIAH CAREY and GWEN STEFANI have notched up two months at the top of the US singles charts.
Carey's WE BELONG TOGETHER, which ended Stefani's reign at the top of the BILLBOARD charts last month (MAY05), has now made it four weeks in a row at number one, with the NO DOUBT singer's HOLLABACK GIRL refusing to budge at number two.
The girls are holding off a challenge from BLACK EYED PEAS' DON'T PHUNK WITH MY HEART, which has jumped from number five to three.
Meanwhile, on the Billboard Adult Contemporary airplay list, KELLY CLARKSON's BREAKWAY scored a 16th week at number one.

Black Eyed Peas Put Two In A Pod With Simultaneous Singles
In the meantime, rapper Will.I.Am keeping busy with new Sergio Mendes, Macy Gray albums.
by Brandee J. Tecson, with reporting by Corey Moss
HOLLYWOOD - Why release one single when you can release two? That seems to be the Black Eyed Peas' new philosophy as they gear up to release a pair of tracks off their latest LP, Monkey Business.
"[The second single] is a song called 'Don't Lie,' but at the same time we release that, we're gonna come with another lifestyle kind of song called 'Like That' with Q-Tip, Talib Kweli, John Legend and Cee-Lo," Will.I.Am revealed backstage at the 2005 BET Awards (see "Destiny's Child Give Lap Dances, Fugees End Feud At BET Awards").
" 'Don't Lie' is a summer feel-good song about messed up relationships," he said. "It's a song about owning up and apologizing and realizing your faults. It's about being a man, or a woman - an adult - and confronting situations honestly."
The Peas have already filmed a video for the song in Brazil, a country whose culture inspired Monkey Business. While the rapper divulged that there will be a slew of "Brazilian things" in the video, he remained mum on the plot. "There's dancing, clubs, stuff like that," Will said.
"Like That," a mellower tune with a quick delivery, "is more underground hip-hop, where our roots came from," he said.
Apart from the Peas, Will has been hard at work on Brazilian legend Sergio Mendes' forthcoming LP, which will also feature Stevie Wonder, Q-Tip and Jill Scott. "It's like hip-hop samba," Will said.
The rapper is also crafting beats for Macy Gray's new album, tentatively titled Big (see "Macy Gray Tries On Clothing Line, Rapper/Stripper/Burglar Role"). The raspy-voiced R&B singer recently signed to Will's record label and plans to drop her LP this fall.
"That record's, like, stupid," the rapper exclaimed. "It's classic Macy Gray joints."
Finally, Will and the rest of the Peas kick off the Harajuku Lovers 2005 Tour, a 16-date summer trek with labelmate Gwen Stefani, October 16 in Phoenix (see "Gwen Stefani To Launch Tour In October, With Black Eyed Peas In Tow").

Black Eyed Peas Fergie's childhood misery
July 17, 2005, 3:51:53
Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie says being a child star robbed her of her childhood. .
The sexy singer shot to fame aged just eight after landing a part on children's TV show 'Kids Incorporated', opposite actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, and continued working on the programme until she was 14.
However, Fergie insists the fame and adulation she received wasn't as great as she thought it would be, and instead she endured a lonely time working while her friends had fun.She explained: "Friends at school were always having slumber parties and pool parties and I couldn't go I was a little adult I had to be professional If I didn't like something I couldn't cry It all came out in later life with the constant people pleasing".

Fergie's First Big Movie Is A Disaster - And She Loves It
Peas singer currently shooting remake of 'The Poseidon Adventure.'
by Brandee J. Tecson, with reporting by Larry Carroll
Black Eyed Peas' Fergie on the set of "Poseidon" (MTV News)
BURBANK, California - For her first major feature film role, Black Eyed Peas singer Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson picked a rather big project. Actually, more like a colossal project.
Dwarfed by a massive, ransacked, topsy-turvy ballroom, the 30-year-old singer-turned-actress is sporting some bloody gashes and bruises for her role in the epic disaster flick "Poseidon" - and she's stoked.
"In the film, when the ship turns over, I get pretty bashed up," she told MTV News during an exclusive visit to the film's monstrous set, which features the largest indoor water tank in the world. "I've got this dirt going on here, and it's the first time I've been all bloody and gashed up, and I like it."
Fergie, who had a bit part as herself in last year's "Be Cool," is tackling her first major film role in "Poseidon," a remake of 1972's "The Poseidon Adventure" starring Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine and Shelley Winters. This modern version tracks the fall of a luxury ocean liner that capsizes from a monstrous tidal wave, leaving its survivors scrambling to escape from the sinking ogre. The film, slated for release next year, is helmed by German-bred filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen ("Troy", "The Perfect Storm") and boasts a fresh ensemble cast including Josh Lucas ("Stealth," "Sweet Home Alabama"), Emmy Rossum ("Phantom of the Opera"), Jacinda Barrett ("Ladder 49"), Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfuss and Andre Braugher as the ship's captain.
Purple Ranger 14 - July 30, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
"I love Andre," Fergie said. "Our back story is we have a special kind of secret relationship going on, so I'm in a lot of scenes with him. He's very, very good to work with. I also get to do my first real bit of dramatic acting, which is good. ... I'm learning a lot of things [that] I didn't know before coming on."
In the film, Fergie tackles the role of Gloria, a singer on the luxury liner during its New Year's Eve festivities. "My character is completely diva-fied - a lot more diva-ish than I am, as you can see with the big gown with the feathers here," Fergie said, showcasing her fitted red-sequined ball gown. "It's quite a fun character."
The singer will perform two musical numbers in the film: the Latin number "Bailamos" and the tear-jerking ballad "I Won't Let You Fall," co-written by her and her Peas mate Will.I.Am. "[It's] a very dramatic song, going with the theme of the movie," she explained. "You know, it's life or death and you're seeing people die right in front of your eyes. The stakes are very high."
While the film is considered a remake of "The Poseidon Adventure," it will incorporate a fresh twist on a few primary elements. "These are different characters who have different storylines," Fergie said. "It's a new story about these different people from different worlds coming together for a cause; to try and [survive] this horrible disaster."
The blossoming starlet believes the plot will strike a chord. "I think it's a great time for this theme to come back," she said, "because people really know that these things can happen, these rogue waves and natural disasters and there's nothing you can do to predict it. It's just there."
Purple Ranger 14 - July 30, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
Fergie has been pulling double duty while simultaneously shooting "Poseidon" in Los Angeles and then jetting cross-country to promote the Peas' latest LP, Monkey Business, and its latest single, "Don't Lie" (see "Black Eyed Peas Put Two In A Pod With Simultaneous Singles").
This week, Fergie will also join the Peas for a couple of California gigs before heading to the East Coast, where they'll perform with Dave Matthews on July 31 in New York. Finally, the Peas will open for the Rolling Stones as they perform at Fenway Park in Boston on August 21 and 23.
"I treasure my sleep very much now," the busy singer joked. "It's hard because I give everything to the band and we just came off the Canadian tour and that went amazing, but when I'm coming back here [to the set] it's a completely different life and I have to give myself fully to this, so I'm working two jobs right now, but it's cool. I love giving myself fully to something."

Gwen Stefani, BEP, MIA Bounce Around Canada
Published: 2005-08-02
Breakout solo artist Gwen Stefani is packing up her crazy Alice In Wonderland costume and horde of Harajuku girls and hitting the road this fall. The singer will play a series of dates in the United States and Canada, including her first in the Prairies without her band mates in No Doubt.
The Harajuku Lovers 2005 Tour is set to launch on October 16th in the heat of Phoenix, Arizona, taking the singer up and down both coasts before she hits Winnipeg in the first of three Canadian dates. California will see Stefani wrap up the two month jaunt on November 25th.
In addition to Winnipeg, Stefani and company will play Edmonton and Vancouver in the most haphazard tour this country is bound to see all year. Tickets for the Canadian stops on the stadium tour in support of Love.Angel.Music.Baby don't go on sale until mid-September for some odd reason.
As if the tour wasn't big enough already, with Stefani spitting out hit single after hit single, hip hop foursome the Black Eyed Peas will be along for the ride. Canada also gets buzz artist M.I.A. as “warm-up” act for all three stops (according to Pollstar). With more critical acclaim than both Stefani and BEP combined, a good chunk of tickets will surely sell due to the London-based artist alone.
Taking odd fascinations with Harajuku Girls to the next level here:
November 16, Winnipeg, MB - MTS Centre
November 18, Edmonton, AB - Rexall Place
November 20, Vancouver, BC - GM Place

Black Eyed Peas, Busta Rhymes Drafted For 'NBA Live 06' Soundtrack
Hip-hop-heavy set also features cuts by N.O.R.E., Jurassic 5, Q-Tip, Stat Quo.
by Stephen Totilo
Hip-hop may not be the official soundtrack of the NBA, but video gamers shouldn't be blamed for thinking otherwise.
Electronic Arts announced on Monday that "NBA Live 06" will feature a soundtrack that's wall-to-wall hip-hop, featuring 16 tracks, including licensed songs from the Black Eyed Peas and Stat Quo, sneak peeks from Jurassic 5 and Q-Tip (with Busta Rhymes), and exclusives from Chamillionaire, N.O.R.E., Bishop Lamont and Spider Loc. In-game beats will be provided by Da Riffs.
While some hip-hop sports series have branched out into other musical genres (see "Paul Wall, Louis XIV, Bloc Party On 'SSX' Game Soundtrack"), basketball games have remained stridently hip-hop for years. Take-Two Interactive's "NBA 2K6," for example, includes 14 exclusive tracks, all originally recorded for the game, from the likes of Common, the Roots and Little Brother. (The rival games don't just have dueling soundtracks; they each sport cover athletes from the same team: "NBA Live" has the Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade; "NBA 2K6" has Shaq.)
EA is also planning to release the game's exclusive tracks as part of a special iTunes mix, timed for release when the game hits store shelves for all major consoles in the final week of September.
"NBA Live 06" track list, according to Electronic Arts:
Purple Ranger 14 - September 16, 2005 04:45 PM (GMT)
* Afu-Ra - "God of Rap"
* Bishop Lamont featuring Chevy Jones - "We Got Next"
* Black Eyed Peas - "My Style"
* Chali 2na featuring Anthony Hamilton - "Don't Stop"
* Chamillionaire - "Grind Time"
* Fort Minor - "Remember the Name"
* Jae Millz - "Streetz Melting"
* Jurassic 5 - "In the House"
* Lupe Fiasco - "Tilted"
* M.I.A. - "Bucky Done"
* N.O.R.E. featuring Gem Star and Big Mato - "Deportes EA"
* Q-Tip featuring Busta Rhymes - "For the Nasty"
* Spider Loc - "Elementary"
* Stat Quo - "Like Dat"
* Tego Calderón - "Mil Cosas"

Black Eyed Peas and Gwen Stefani at the HP Pavilion in San Jose
Marian Liu, 11:53 PM in Concerts, Marian Liu, Music
Both the Black Eyed Peas and Gwen Stefani have strayed far from their roots for more pop pastures -- BEP from hip-hop and Stefani from ska. But at tonight's concert in the HP Pavilion in San Jose, despite purist grumblings, BEP were energetic -- successfully firing up the crowd for Stefani.
Stefani, on the otherhand, made me miss No Doubt. She was more visually exciting than musically appealing -- full of eye candy, changing costumes, bouncing this way and that. Her music was more mechanical, and even her hit, "Hollaback Girl" was off and flat. And for much of her set, which lasted a little over an hour, the audience looked listless, stunned that their idol went bananas.
Granted this is her second show and even she said there will be surprises, but what did y'all think? Check out my full review in the Mercury News at this link. Also, check out Yahoo's smash site, where they have a look behind the scenes with Gwen Stefani, told through Todd Stefani, her younger brother and the director of the series.

The 30-year-old says, "I haven't had any surgery but I would maybe consider a nip and a tuck. I've been sun tanning forever and damaging my skin. .
"I would be open to botox."

Kanye, Black Eyed Peas Top New Year's Eve Coast-To-Coast Calendar
John Mayer Trio, Death Cab for Cutie, Mötley Crüe also helping usher in '06.
by Gil Kaufman
For many people, New Year's Eve has become a night to stay in and let the amateurs stumble through the streets in search of the ultimate party. But if you have music on your mind, it can be the best night of the year to see a show that's bound to have some surprises. This year it seems jamming is where it's at, with boogie bands like Gov't Mule, Widespread Panic, Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Galactic laying it down from coast to coast. In the meantime, Kanye West and the Black Eyed Peas will be doing their best to give the night some hip-hop flavor.
Kanye and Fantasia usher in 2006 at the Aladdin Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, a city otherwise busy reliving the '90s: the Fremont Street Experience in downtown will host Cheap Trick, Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors; Hootie and the Blowfish will be at the Silverton Casino; and the Goo Goo Dolls will rock the House of Blues. Matchbox Twenty will bring it back together for a gig at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (and will play the same venue the following night).
In Los Angeles, the Giant Village festival on Wilshire Boulevard will feature a dozen acts including Black Eyed Peas, Death Cab for Cutie, Crystal Method and Z-Trip. Interpol's Carlos D will DJ at the El Rey Theatre and reunited rockers Buckcherry play the Viper Room.
If you're in New York and you like your new year spiced with some monster jams, Madison Square Garden is where it's at thanks to a show featuring the Black Crowes and the North Mississippi Allstars - or you can go across town to the Beacon Theatre, where Gov't Mule will be playing their third consecutive night. If indie rock is your taste, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are sitting in at Irving Plaza with the National. The Continental has a punk bill featuring Murphy's Law and the Dickies. If soul is your bag, James Brown is headlining at B.B. King's Blues Club for two shows, and - whaddya know? - electro-jammers the New Deal are playing a late gig after midnight.
If you happen to be in the vicinity of Mashantucket, Connecticut, you can ring in the new year with Sean Paul at the Foxwoods Casino, or hop over to Atlantic City, New Jersey, to chill with Kool & the Gang at the Atlantic City Hilton or Erykah Badu at the House of Blues. Yo La Tengo will also be out and about, playing at Maxwell's in Hoboken. And if you need your rock bigger and louder, hop over to Sayreville for a show by Velvet Revolver at the Starland Ballroom, or spend it with Mötley Crüe and several thousand of your new best friends at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Purple Ranger 14 - December 15, 2005 05:35 PM (GMT)
Chicago is also a jam-friendly zone, with Keller Williams and Umphrey's McGee touching down at the Aragon Ballroom. Train hits the House of Blues along with Soul Asylum and Fastball, and the New Pornographers, Rogue Wave and Colette play at Metro.
Even hip-hop haven Atlanta is getting its jam on, with Widespread Panic playing the Philips Arena and alt-hip-hop/electronica acts Prefuse 73 and Sound Tribe Sector 9 taking over the Tabernacle. Meanwhile, Arrested Development will bring a positive vibe to the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Collective Soul are at the Underground Atlanta. If you're in Florida, check out Sevendust at the House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista or Barenaked Ladies at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa.
Things will still be a bit mellower in still-recovering New Orleans, with a show by Better Than Ezra at the House of Blues (they play on the 30th, too) and jam rockers Galactic playing at the reopened Tipitina's Uptown.
It's back to the jam as you head west to Denver, where the Yonder Mountain String Band is playing at the Fillmore Auditorium with Leftover Salmon frontman Vince Herman.
As you can imagine, San Francisco will also be getting its twirl on, with Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh & Friends co-headlining with the John Mayer Trio for the third straight night at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, while Les Claypool does his traditional New Year's stomp at the Fillmore with the Phenomenauts. Across town, the F---ing Champs and Trans Am - who are so friendly with one another they formed the side projects Trans Champs and the F---ing Am - will bring some (mostly) instrumental mayhem to Bottom of the Hill.
Also in S.F., the String Cheese Incident will play at the Concourse Exhibition Center, She Wants Revenge are at the Mezzanine, the Supersuckers are at Slim's and comedians David Cross, Doug Benson and Zach Galifianakis will perform at the Palace of Fine Arts.

Fergie dances with prince
December 21, 2005, 12:50:18
Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie had a royal treat at an MTV party - when the Prince of Brunei begged her to dance with him.
The pop babe was at a star-studded bash at London's swanky Kabaret's Prophecy club when the wealthy prince reportedly got one of his employees to ask her to dance.
The 30-year-old beauty accepted - but allegedly fled when she realised the royal wasn't as skilled as her on the dance floor.
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Fergie was sitting chatting with pals when the prince got his aides to beg her for a dance.
"She finally gave in, but when he started flinging his arms about and making shapes, she made her excuses and legged it."
Earlier this month, Fergie confessed to urinating on stage during a recent concert.
The sexy singer said she had to douse herself with champagne in front of hundreds of Australian fans to disguise the fact.
She was quoted by Scotland's Daily Record newspaper as saying: "I had a few drinks before going onstage, but I didn't think to go to the bathroom
"We were jumping around and my bladder just started you know."

Black Eyed Peas Deny Commercial Sellout
January 4, 2006, 6:11:47
Black Eyed Peas: 'we're Not Sell-outs'.
Hip-hop stars THE BLACK EYED PEAS have hit out at claims they have sold-out commercially, instead insisting they are a ground-breaking act.
The WHERE IS THE LOVE? hitmakers have appeared in a number of high-profile commercials including the first iTunes advert, and have made guest appearances at a host of awards shows and sporting events.
But rapper WILL.I.AM is adamant their critics will come to realise that The Black Eyed Peas are blazing a trail their contemporaries will soon follow. ** Article Continues Below **
He tells MTV, "We don't do anything that doesn't fit with the music. We kinda lend ourselves to benefits so we did the Democratic National Convention to get people out there to vote. And then we'll do a Best Buy commercial 'cause they sell music. Then we did the first iTunes commercial. We did the NBA 'cause it's like, who's not gonna do the NBA?
"We did the Super Bowl, 'cause who ain't gonna do the Super Bowl? And if they asked you to do two years at the Grammys, you ain't gonna do it? And then we did the Emmys 'cause they said, 'Ain't nobody ever did the Emmys.' "We're just trying to push boundaries, but a lot of times when you are the first, you get flak for it. People say 'sell-out'. That's one thing I don't get. That's some dumb shit, because it's like we ain't frontin'. I ain't got crazy gold or being something that I'm not. A sell-out is somebody who's one way with their mom, and then when they with their homies.
"The reality is the only thing they can say about the Black Eyed Peas is, 'Those dudes is all over the place,' and that all relates to the fact that we work hard. So if we're criminals for working hard, then lock me up."

Black Eyed Peas 'Sue'
Will.i.am To Return To Street Hip-hop Roots.
THE BLACK EYED PEAS rapper WILL.I.AM will blend his street hip-hop roots with the production values he has learned as part of one of the world's biggest bands when he begins work on his third solo record this year (06).
The MY HUMPS star is keen to point out that he was given his first record deal by late NWA rapper EAZY-E in 1991 on the strength of his improvised rhyming - something many of his new found devotees will be unaware of.
But he still intends to blend his back-to-basics approach with the songwriting skills he has perfected during his 15 years in the music industry. ** Article Continues Below **
He says, "I'm a battle MC, don't forget it. Yeah, we on the radio, but I eat a lot of n**gers up. My roots are as a backpack parking-lot rapper. I got signed by Eazy-E in 1991 just by freestyling, so it's going to have a lot of that, but at the same time, I love the art form of writing songs.
"A lot of MCs don't practice that art form of songwriting structure, cadences, melody and whatnot, so I honour that art form and it's going to be on my solo project as well."
In other news the promoters of a cancelled New Year's Eve (31DEC05) street party in Los Angeles are being sued by disgruntled BLACK EYED PEAS fans who feel the show should have gone on.
A group of music fans who were left with no party to go to on New Year's Eve are planning to file a class action lawsuit, claiming promoters promised them the show would go on "come rain or shine."

Black Eyed Peas Fans May Sue Over New Year's Eve Washout
Los Angeles' Giant Village 2006 concert was canceled due to weather despite 'rain or shine' billing.
by Chris Harris
The tickets for Giant Village 2006 - a New Year's Eve bash featuring the Black Eyed Peas, Death Cab for Cutie, the Crystal Method and the Flaming Lips performing on five stages in downtown Los Angeles- said the event would go on "rain or shine." But Giant Village's organizers called the event off on the advice of the city's fire marshal - who said torrential rains presented a considerable hazard to the public - and several frustrated ticket holders aren't taking the cancellation lying down.
Claiming that Giant Village's washout ruined their nights (a man who'd flown in from London told the paper he intended to ask for his girlfriend's hand in marriage from the event's stage during the Flaming Lips' set), a number of ticket holders are considering a class-action lawsuit against the concert's organizers, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Many disgruntled fans allege that Giant Village was shelved because of feeble advance-ticket sales, not city officials' storm concerns. A spokesperson for the event, which was expected to attract more than 15,000 fans, dismissed those suspicions as unfounded.
Refunds have been offered to those who purchased tickets. At first, the concert's Web site pledged a makeup event somewhere down the road, but Giant Village organizer Dave Dean changed his tune on Tuesday, saying there would be no such show.
"In the exhaustion of the moment, it was considered," Dean told the Times. "The only makeup gig we could do is to do a better New Year's event next year."
The promise of a refund came as little consolation for Anaheim resident Dana Hayes, who will create a Web site for others who would like to add their names to the class-action proceedings.
"Refund or not, my New Year's was shot," she said. "It's not about money. It's about the point. The ticket said, 'rain or shine.' "
"Somebody canceled my and 10,000 other people's New Year," another irked ticket holder said. "Someone stood to make a lot of money from this."
Not so, Dean told the Times. The concert organizer said he's stuck paying for a seven-figure concert that "had no income." Many of the night's performers were paid in advance, Dean said, and have no intention of returning the money.

Black Eyed Peas Headlining Next Honda Civic Tour
Trek kicks off March 23 in Fresno, California.
by Corey Moss
The Black Eyed Peas have scored yet another corporate affiliation.
The hip-hop group, which has teamed with everyone from Apple to the NBA to Dr. Pepper, will headline the sixth year of the Honda Civic Tour. Organizers have yet to finalize the itinerary, but the trek will kick off March 23 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.
The Peas made the announcement Friday (January 6) at Honda's American headquarters in Torrance, California, where they played a surprise show. The group also revealed a one-of-a-kind special edition of the Honda Civic Hybrid that features painting and other customizations by the Peas.
As with past Honda Civic Tours - which have been headlined by Blink-182, Everclear, Incubus, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional and Maroon 5 - the special car will be on display in each city and given away to a sweepstakes winner at the end of the outing.
With the tour, the Peas hope to continue building up their reputation as a live act, something the band relied on before achieving top 40 success with 2003's Elephunk.
"You think of all the tours that happened [in 2005], the 50 Cent/ Eminem tour, as big as those artists are, it wasn't like as crazy as you think it was gonna be [saleswise]," Will.I.Am explained recently. "So for us, to build that Dave Matthews-type of touring awareness, that no matter what song we have on the radio we can still go out and tour, we still have to put in work in the States. We've been putting in work all over the planet but we haven't put in our work in the States yet."
As for their penchant for teaming with big companies, which spawned a spoof on "Saturday Night Live," Will scoffed at those who call the Peas sell-outs (see "Peas' Will.I.Am On His Solo LP: 'I'm A Battle MC, Don't Forget It' ").
"A person who is hungry and takes their career seriously and tries to go out and do as much as they can 'cause they remember when they were as broke as sh-- in the projects, that's just a person that's trying to make it happen, because who knows what's gonna happen tomorrow?" he said. "That's just a person that works hard, so I take offense when people say, 'Oh, you guys are sellouts.'
"We get flak for it, like, 'Those dudes do a lot,' but at one point in time when our people would say, 'Hey, can we get a cover on a magazine?' [the answer was] 'Well, you guys aren't big enough.' But now that we're big enough, now they say, 'Well, you guys are doing too much.' So it's like, whatever."
The Peas, who plan to release "Pump It" as the next single from Monkey Business (see "Black Eyed Peas Want To Shoot A Kung-Fu Breakdancing Movie"), will hold a pre-sale for Honda Civic Tour tickets beginning February 15 on the trek's Web site, www.HondaCivicTour.com.
