Weisz's fiancé film fear
7th January 2007 09:45:02
Rachel Weisz was terrified of working with her fiancé because he is such a strict director.
The Oscar-winning actress stars in her fiancé Darren Aronofsky's new film 'The Fountain' and has revealed she was warned by friends before accepting the part that he is very difficult to work with.
Rachel told Britain's The Independent newspaper: "I felt nervous because it was a very challenging role. I didn't want to let this movie or myself down. That was one of the reasons I wanted to do it, I don't think I've ever done something on screen - I've done it on stage - where the central character had been so raw and vulnerable."
The 35-year-old actress stars opposite Hugh Jackman in the sci-fi romance.
Rachel admits that under Darren's strict direction, she was not able to put her usual improvisation into practice.
She said: "I didn't bring my own ideas to 'The Fountain'. Darren is not a director who lets actors contribute to the script.
"I think there are about six words in the whole of this film I improvised."
Rachel gave birth to Darren's son, Henry Chance Aronofsky, in May this year.

Weisz's movie move
8th January 2007 15:00:02
Rachel Weisz moved out of her home while filming her latest movie with her director fiancé Darren Aronofsky.
The Oscar-winning actress stars in 'The Fountain', which is directed by Aronofsky, and made the drastic decision to leave their New York apartment to make sure the pair kept a professional relationship during filming.
Weisz said: "For Darren this film was an immense undertaking, he was really focused and he didn't have any time to listen to what I said about anything. He was doing his job and I was doing mine, the best way that I can describe it, is that I met the director and he met the actress."
The 35-year-old actress, who gave birth to the couple's first child Henry in May this year, has also revealed that she and Darren were worried about working together in case the movie was a flop.
She added: "There are stories of couples working together where it didn't work. We made a decision before we started that if we were going to do it we had to have good boundaries. We had to have a good understanding."

3. "The Fountain": Darren Aronofsky's third feature — a thousand-year love story that stretches from Renaissance Spain to the far reaches of outer space — is the most radiantly imaginative sci-fi film since "2001: A Space Odyssey." Shows what wonders are possible after a director's had his budget cut in half. Actually, shows what wonders are possible, period.

Mummy 3 Eyes Cohen To Helm
Rob Cohen (Stealth) is in talks with Universal Pictures to take the reins on a third edition of its Mummy franchise, and franchise stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have had discussions about returning, Variety reported.
Not much has been disclosed about the story of The Mummy 3 by writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (TV's Smallville), but the movie has been in active development for about a year. No deals are in place for Fraser and Weisz to return. Mummy 3 is envisioned as a summer 2008 release.
Stephen Sommers helmed the first two Mummy installments, released in 1999 and 2001; they took in a combined worldwide gross of $849 million.
Sean Daniel, Jim Jacks, Sommers and his Sommers Co. partner Bob Ducsay will produce Mummy 3.
Universal is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.

Mummy 3 Spoilers Unwrapped
Al Gough, who is co-writing the third installment in the Mummy film franchise with partner Miles Millar, told SCI FI Wire that the sequel will unwrap a new mummy and feature a character who is the grown son of Rick and Evie (played in the previous films by Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz). It's aiming to shoot this summer under director Rob Cohen (Stealth) for a 2008 release.
Gough and Millar, who also created The CW's Smallville, said the sequel will also have a new concept. "Stephen Sommers [who wrote and directed the previous two films] and his partner, Bob Ducsay, ... approached us and said, 'Steve doesn't want to write the third movie. Would you guys be interested?'" Gough said in an interview. "And we were like, 'Well, it's a third.' But then they had a concept for it that we really liked. They had an idea for the movie, which is something we always wanted to do. So we're like, 'Well, if we don't do it, they're going to do it in this movie.'"
Gough said that he and Millar added their own ideas to the script, including a storyline centering on the main characters of Rick and Evie. "We figured out a really good family story with Rick and Evie, and [their son] Alex is now grown up. So it's really interesting." Alex was played as a young boy in 2001's The Mummy Returns by Freddie Boath.
As for whether Fraser and Weisz will reprise their roles in the film, Gough said that he was confident the script is good enough to persuade them to return. "They're in negotiations," he said. "So the plan is to bring them back. I think it'll end up being Brendan and Rachel, ultimately. They're the core of the movie. That's why people love the Mummy movies. And then it's taking that and then expanding it and introducing [a] new character and a new mummy. So we're really excited to get going. We met with Rob Cohen today, and he's really jazzed to do it. So fingers crossed, God willing, we'll be shooting this summer and it'll be out in the summer of '08."

Fraser Interested In Mummy 3
Brendan Fraser, who starred in the first two Mummy films, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that he's interested in reprising his role as adventurer Rick O'Connell in the proposed third installment, but nothing is official just yet. "I would like to very much," Fraser said in an interview on the set of his latest film, the fantasy Inkheart, in London last week. "It's down to decisions made in offices somewhere in Los Angeles. I'm waiting for a script. Keep your fingers crossed."
Since it was announced that screenwriters Al Gough and Miles Millar (The CW's Smallville) had been hired to write the script for The Mummy 3, there has been speculation over whether Fraser and co-star Rachel Weisz will appear in the film. Gough recently told SCI FI Wire that he hopes to lure the pair back and that the story will center on their characters and their now grown-up son, Alex. Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) is in talks to direct the film.
Inkheart is now filming in London for release sometime in 2008.

Li Wrapping Up Mummy 3
Jet Li is in negotiations to play the villainous title character in Universal Pictures' The Mummy 3, being directed by Rob Cohen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The plot details of the script, written by Smallville's Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, are being kept under wraps, but it is known that the action is set in China, with Li's story beginning in ancient times before moving to a post-World War II setting. It is also known that one sequence involves the famous terra-cotta warriors, the collection of more than 8,000 men and their horses that were originally constructed to protect the tomb of an emperor near Xi'an.
Stephen Sommers, Bob Ducsay, Sean Daniel and Jim Jacks are producing.
Li is now in preproduction on an untitled J&J project, which teams him with Jackie Chan. Li was last seen in Rogue Pictures' Fearless.

Fraser Signs For Mummy 3
Brendan Fraser has closed a deal to return in The Mummy 3, but Rachel Weisz is not coming back, Variety reported.
Rob Cohen will direct the sequel, which is expected to begin production late in the summer. It will be set in China and will introduce Jet Li as a villain.
Universal is planning a summer 2008 release; the franchise has earned more than $830 million worldwide. The Mummy debuted in 1999 and The Mummy Returns in 2001.
Weisz has won an Oscar and had a baby since the last installment and has dropped out of talks to reprise her role.
The Mummy 3's script is by Smallville creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, who will do another pass that will factor in the absence of Weisz. Universal is holding up a green light pending a final rewrite, but a late summer start date is still expected.

It would be cool if they did a live-action tv series about The Mummy.

Purple Ranger 14 - June 25, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Perhaps.

I read that we are getting a new mummy for the third movie. This one can change form due to a female wizard's curse. Emperor Han/The Mummy is played by Jet Li. & Alex O'Connell is played by Luke Ford. While Maria Bello takes place as Evelyn instead of Rachel. Jonathan is also said to be in the third movie. No word on Oded Fehr yet.
