Fantasy VII Due On U.S. DVD?
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, a movie set in the universe of one of Square Enix's popular Final Fantasy video games, may be released on DVD before the end of the year, according to a post on the Digital Bits Web site. The news was reported on the GameSpot.com site.
The movie has previously appeared at the Venice Film Festival in Italy and on DVD and UMD in Japan.
According to the post, "It's taking a little extra time to work with the director to get all the supplemental elements finished, but the title is on track for release sometime later this year." Mike Stradford, an executive at Sony's DVD division, is cited as the source of information, the site reported.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has sold hundreds of thousands of copies in Japan on both DVD and UMD.

Fantasy VII Film Hits U.S. DVD
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced the April 25 release of the DVD and PSP versions of its computer-animated film FinaI Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The 100-minute movie is set in the universe of the hit video game Final Fantasy VII and features the voices of Steve Burton, Rachael Leigh Cook and Mena Suvari. The film comes from director and character designer Tetsuya Nomura and features a blend of action, SF and anime.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will debut as a two-disc special-edition set, with a suggested retail price of $26.96, and on UMD video for the PSP ($28.96). DVD bonus materials will include a story digest, deleted scenes, a "making-of" featurette, Venice Film Festival footage and a sneak peek at the upcoming games in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series.
Developed by Square Enix and released in 1997 for the PlayStation game console, Final Fantasy VII has sold more than 9 million units worldwide and is the best-selling game of the Final Fantasy series, which has sold more than 63 million units worldwide.

Fantasy VII Collectors' Set Due
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the DVD movie based on the best-selling Square Enix video-game franchise, arrives in a limited-edition collectors' set on Feb. 20, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced.
Featuring the voices of Steve Burton, Mena Suvari and Rachel Leigh Cook and directed by Tetsuya Nomura, the two-disc collectors' set comes with 10 collectible postcards, an English movie script and a biographical character booklet. It carries a suggested retail price of $49.95.
The film takes place two years after Sephiroth's attempts at mass genocide, as depicted in the Final Fantasy VII game. A strange disease threatens mankind, and with many falling ill and the ruins of Midgar standing as a reminder of the sacrifices of the past, old enemies rise from the ashes to seek revenge. Ridden with guilt and haunted by his past, ex-soldier Cloud Strife emerges from seclusion to battle evil and save the planet from certain destruction.
