Next time you want to bake a salmon in the oven, try this, put a small slice of onion in or on it and a small pat of butter or margarine, you can bet it will be juicy.

I think Iron Chef Sakai won a Salmon battle.

Or you could try adding butter, lemon juice, and a hint of dill weed. :)

Dill weed reminds me too much of dill piclkles and I hate any kind of pickles.

I love pickles  , but detest onions unless they're cooked in soup or chill. That's the ony way I will eat them unless they're cook in something to where I cannot taste them on bit.

What I don't understand, Lady Hawk is why you detest onions and garlic, especially since they are good for your heart in lowering Cholestoral.

I don't like Garlic, because it gives me blinding headaches when I smell them. :( No joke! My mom made something with Garlic one time & I nearly blacked out on the floor the pain was so bad. :(

As for onions I will admit if they are cut up finely & added to a tomato sauce I will eat them. But if it's not, forget it I won't eat it.

Apparently there is something in onions and garlic that don't like you at all, did you check with a doctor to see what it was in them that caused this reaciton?

Lady Hawk - November 7, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
Nope! I can't afford to go to the doctor. <_< Too poor + no money = zero doctor visits & medicine. :(

One thing I do know about onions, especially the spicy ones, is that they do make a person's eyes water. To cure that problem, dunk them in water while peeling them, then you won't cry over peeling onions anymore.

When I cut onions for my mom I always make sure to have a scented candle burning. The smell stop me from crying for some reason.

Cut onions underwater. The chemical gets washed off.

I was given a large hunk of Steelhead from a friends that lives across the street from us, he caught it in Southern Oregon. I cut it up into smaller chunks this morning, now I have enough salmon for two months.

Steelhead?

trey98607 - March 7, 2006 03:03 AM (GMT)
Yes, Steelhead, it's a variety of salmon, there is also Chinook and Sockeye.

We sell Sockeye at the store.
