Title: Elektra
Purple Ranger 14 - December 29, 2004 05:48 AM (GMT)
Discuss the sexy lady ninja in red/love of Daredevil's life who will be hitting theaters in January with Jennifer Garner playing the voluptuous assassin.
TheBookerMan - January 2, 2005 05:15 AM (GMT)
Jennifer Garner is one of the HOTTEST actresses I have EVER SEEN! I want to be in a movie with her and I definitely cannot wait to see Elektra. I fell in love with this character back when I read Daredevil comics and to me, Jennifer Garner just does a purely wonderful job of playing this character. I can't see anyone else playing this role.
Purple Ranger 14 - January 2, 2005 05:27 AM (GMT)
I only saw trading cards of her.
TheBookerMan - January 2, 2005 05:29 AM (GMT)
I think I saw more of her probably because I read Wizard Magazine every month ever since 1996.
Purple Ranger 14 - January 2, 2005 05:37 AM (GMT)
I only have the one about Wolverine. Wish I could see stuff about Elektra online but certain websites don't give a rat's tail about Mac users like myself.
TheBookerMan - January 2, 2005 05:45 AM (GMT)
I know how that is man. Thank goodness the movie Elektra comes out soon though.
Purple Ranger 14 - January 2, 2005 05:48 AM (GMT)
Yep. Problem is for me...Who'd want to see it with me.

I meant LOCALLY, Brendan. I live in Virginia. You're in Arizona. Post any links to pictures of Ms. Garner here too.
TheBookerMan - January 3, 2005 05:12 AM (GMT)
I know man. I meant if I were there visiting you I would go see it with you.
Purple Ranger 14 - January 3, 2005 06:03 AM (GMT)
I know. And I meant what I said about the links.
TheBookerMan - January 7, 2005 06:27 AM (GMT)
If I can find some pics I will post them on here. BTW, just to let you know, Jennifer's show Alias did VERY well this past Wednesday night on ABC for its fourth season premiere.

I'll be seeing the moviem which has the official trailer for the Fantastic Four movie, with my dad in less than twelve hours!!!
Forte.exe - January 16, 2005 01:26 PM (GMT)
i saw it. but there is no fantastic 4 trailer. oh well the movie is pretty good anyways.
Purple Ranger 14 - January 17, 2005 04:59 AM (GMT)
The Fantastic Four trailer was the first one they showed. My dad missed it because he was getting drinks & popcorn, which I ate for the first time in years.
Elektra totally rocked. The fights, visual effects, Character Development & martial arts action kicked major ass.
TheBookerMan - January 17, 2005 05:05 AM (GMT)
It was on my movie of Elektra. I think it was the second to last trailer on there right before Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I love how Fantastic Four looks and that movie should rival Batman Begins for comicbook movie of the year.
BTW, Elektra kicks butt and that should have been the number one movie of the weekend. You know what comment I heard over and over by people who would rather see In Good Company? When they asked what I suggested and I told them Elektra, they said "Oh that's just a comicbook movie!" What a crappy reason not to see it. I'm so tired of hearing that it sucks for them because it's not an Oscar caliber film. I should've said "In Good Company? Oh that's just a comedy movie!"
Purple Ranger 14 - January 17, 2005 05:13 AM (GMT)
Exactly. That's like someone we know classifying Phantom Of The Opera as a stupid musical. My folks saw that movie. They liked it.
Batman Begins gets released two weeks after my 22nd birthday this year.

The following comes from scifi.com:
Garner Finds Elektra's Darkness
Jennifer Garner, who plays the title character in the upcoming comic-book film Elektra, told SCI FI Wire that she plays a woman struggling with her own inner darkness. "Elektra is lethal," Garner said in an interview during a break in filming on the movie's set in Vancouver, B.C., last June. Unlike the earlier version of Elektra Natchios she played in 2003's Daredevil, this Elektra lives with the memory of her father's murder, Garner added.
"In Daredevil, [she] was somebody who was on the verge of being lethal who was surprised to find herself vulnerable to someone," namely, Ben Affleck's Matt Murdock, Garner said. "Once her father's killed—and this is true in the comic books, and it is in the films as well— ... there is no light for her in the world anymore. ...She goes to such an incredibly dark place."
At the end of Daredevil, Elektra appeared to have died. But she takes center stage in Elektra as an assassin who has a crisis of conscience when she's ordered to kill a young girl. "This particular story is about her not being able to deny her need for her own redemption, and it comes up and smacks her in the face, much like falling for Matt Murdock did, except I think this is much more of a surprise, and it's more of a twist, and it's something she fights a lot harder than she fought falling for Matt," Garner said. Elektra opens Jan. 14.

Garner Braves Elektra Bow
Battling a painful injury that had sidelined her for more than a week, Jennifer Garner managed to show up at the Jan. 8 Las Vegas world premiere of her new comic-book film Elektra, the Associated Press reported.
Garner walked the red carpet at The Palms Hotel and Casino. "I wasn't feeling well over Christmas," Garner told reporters. "I didn't know why. I thought I had some kind of infection. It turned out that I had messed up my back a little bit."
Garner showed up dressed in a sleek, sleeveless black gown, the AP reported. "I did get a couple of extra days off on my Christmas break out of the bargain, so it has all turned out OK, and I'm fit as a fiddle and ready to get back on the horse," the Alias star added.
Unfortunately Jennifer was unable to host Saturday Night Live like was planned. Topher Grace from That 70's Show filled in for her and also got to promote his new movie In Good Company as well.

Stamp Said No To Elektra
erence Stamp, who plays the blind ninja master Stick in the upcoming comic-book movie Elektra, told SCI FI Wire that he initially turned the role down. "Oh, I didn't want to do this," the veteran British actor said during a break in filming on the film's Vancouver, B.C., set last June. "I didn't want to push my luck. I got away with it with Zod. I don't think I can get away with it again, you know?" he added, referring to his popular role as the villainous General Zod in 1978's Superman and its sequel, Superman II.
Stamp relented after vigorous lobbying by producer Gary Foster and director Rob Bowman. "I just kept saying no," Stamp said. "They just kept coming after me. And then I had to kind of look at it, you know?"
Stamp added: "I think that the only things that I really regret in my life, or the decisions that I regret in my life, ... are films that I passed on for the wrong reasons. And films I passed on for the wrong reasons were just out of a personal fear of the project, fear of not being able to do a good job. And with increasing age, I've learned to kind of become aware of the fear. And sometimes I choose to go against it, and in this case I thought, 'Well, maybe it's that. Maybe I don't want to do it, because I don't want to fall flat on my face again.'"
Stamp plays the mentor to Jennifer Garner's Elektra Natchios, the tortured martial-artist-turned-assassin.

AND THE MOVIE ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!

This final article is from scifi.com as well:
Bowman Finds Elektra's Heart
Rob Bowman, director of the upcoming comic-to-film Elektra, told SCI FI Wire that he was attracted to the project because of its heroine, played by Jennifer Garner. "After I read the screenplay, ... the first thing I looked into with Elektra was 'What's going on inside of her?'" Bowman said in an interview during a break in filming on the movie's Vancouver, B.C., set last June. "Is there more than 'I'm just a good old person who does heroic things?' So, you know, that's what caught my attention."
In the film adaptation of the Marvel Comics series, Garner plays Elektra Natchios, a stone-cold assassin who begins to question her life when she is assigned to kill a young girl. Choosing instead to protect the girl and her father (Goran Visnjic), Elektra finds herself in conflict with a pack of super-powered ninjas.
"The supernatural elements ... exist to me as the shape of the villain," Bowman said. "You know, movies are only about one thing, [and] that's people. The rest is what you throw at them. We have a very severe character in Elektra, who in a two-hour movie will go through a very intense, painful self-discovery. While she's in the middle of that emotional crisis, we throw very exotic, very dangerous characters at her."
Bowman is no stranger to SF&F movies, having directed both the X-Files film and Reign of Fire. "I'm always thinking, 'Do I want people to leave their homes, drive to the theater, buy the ticket? The popcorn: It's expensive,'" Bowman said. " So I have to give them reasons to come to the theater, ... many of which are driven by movie magic. What can we do in the movies that they can't afford on television? ... To heighten it like that does, I think, echo what people expect from a comic-book genre."
Still, Bowman said, "The strength of this film lies not in so much the special effects. It lies in the story of Elektra, and to me ... there is such gravity in her story that I think the balance will be just fine. We do have to be careful and show restraint when it comes to the kind of effects [we have], but to me, ... my mind is in Elektra. The rest is the darts and the things that I'm throwing at her to make her journey more difficult."
BTW, if Rob Bowman sounds familiar, he also directed both Reign of Fire starring the new Batman Christian Bale and The X-Files Movie from back in 1998. Plans are in the infant stages for The X-Files Movie 2 but Bowman is not expected to return as director.

Jen and Ben's Pregnant Pause
Stop us if you think you've heard this one before. The rumor mill is once again churning with chatter that Jennifer Garner and purported fiancé Ben Affleck are expecting the pitter-patter of little feet.
And just like the baby burblings from a few months back, the paparazzi-provided evidence amounts to little more than Jen donning a shirt that poufs ever-so-slightly in front.
In other words, don't buy those booties just yet.
The tyke talk began on Monday, when the "Alias" star was snapped shopping in Los Angeles in an empire-waist floral top that seemed to highlight a teeny-tiny bit of swelling around her belly area. So, a misguided fashion choice or a sign of a bun in the oven?
"Jennifer was showing quite a big bump and she was walking very carefully," an eyewitness tells the London Sun. "The bulge is out of proportion with the rest of her body, which is really toned. I'd say she's a few months gone."
Of course, it probably takes nothing more than a frappuccino to make Garner's ultra-taut tummy swell, and you'll remember that similar stork predictions began while she was filming "13 Going on 30" thanks to an abdomen-accentuating blouse.
While Jen's spokeswoman remains mum on the motherhood murmurs, the Star recently claimed the couple-of-nine-months was "trying for a baby."
"As far as Ben's concerned, Jennifer can't get pregnant soon enough," a supposed Affleck insider told the mag. "He's 100 percent sure he's found the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with."
The embattled actor reportedly slipped a $500,000, 4.5-carat sparkler on Garner's finger following her 33rd birthday party on April 16. Her ring digit, however, was diamond-free during her recent shopping expedition.

Garner's Changing Role on 'Alias'
J.J. Abrams: blabbermouth or PR whiz? As Jennifer Garner continues to keep her lip buttoned over whether she's carrying Ben Affleck's baby, her "Alias" overlord is opening up about the stork talk.
Abrams, perhaps in a bid to save his star the trouble of officially confirming her bun in the oven, tells "Access Hollywood" her pregnancy "will affect" the fifth season of the ABC spy series, "but I think we have overcome a lot of other issues and things. I think the show will be a little bit different because of it, but Jennifer is so excited about everything right now ..."
As for how the actress's delicate condition will affect her bad-guy-walloping CIA agent alter ego Sydney Bristow, Abrams deadpans, "I'm sure kickboxing is probably out."
While it's still unclear how Garner's expanding waistline will figure into the show (fans will recall Sydney's eggs were harvested against her will as part of the elaborate Rambaldi plotline), Abrams jokes that "every alias [she dons] will just be a pregnant person."
Garner, 33, meanwhile, is currently in Vancouver filming the romantic comedy "Catch and Release." Over the weekend, paparazzi snapped her looking very affectionate with Affleck as they ambled around town, publicly smooching and holding hands.
Just how focused were the lovebirds on one another? During their stroll, they failed to notice they'd stopped in front of a movie poster for "Monster-in-Law," which stars their respective exes, Jennifer Lopez and Michael Vartan.
Jen, by the by, was not only sporting a rare smile in the pics, but she was also wearing what looked suspiciously like a diamond engagement ring on her all-important finger. Affleck, 32, reportedly popped the question last month with a 4.5-carat, $500,000 sparkler from Harry Winston.
