Interesting question on the Bob Dunsire forum (under Beer Tent in case the link fails).
Are Bedfordshire Uni' G4 the first English band to win a world championship in any grade?

Anyone here know the answer?

I am almost certain Mounts won Grade 3 / 2 many moons ago. I might be getting confused with Champion of Champions though. I know they never managed it in Grade one but came 6th or 7th a couple of times.

If I'not mistaken Warrington Juv took 1st place at the Worlds some years ago.

Apparently the year that Mounts won the Worlds in grade 3 they achieved a grand slam winning every Majors. Would have achieved the same in Grade 2 other than coming 2nd in one of them !
