Title: Twin Cities Ghost Hunters and Psychics
Description: new discussion group
stormyskyz - January 9, 2005 11:27 PM (GMT)
Hello all ! My name is Stormyskyz and I live in the Minneapolis / Twin Cities area. I am new to this site . I have had many paranormal experiences in my lifetime and am considered to be " gifted " or psychic. I would be very interested to start a discussion group with others that are also gifted or have an interest in the paranormal who live in and around the Twin Cities area. Serious replies only and you must be an adult. It would be great to meet once or twice a month at a local restaurant and share our stories and experiences , kind of like starting a Paranormal Club. I would also love to start a lively discussion on this website and would love to hear from you all as to why you are interested in the Paranormal and any experiences you have had. Blessings !

Greetings Stormyskyz and welcome to the board.
This board has had its off and on times as you probably could have noticed.
I am the founder of the Minnesota Paranormal Study Group in Mankato, MN.
I have had a few occurances with spirits that have been interesting as well as heard many stories during my seminars that I have taught.
I'd be more than willing to share them with you all if you wish and this discussion actually gets off the ground. :)

Hi there. I'm "Angie" and I am new here too. I am a 31 year old Native American woman, who has often experienced many hauntings as well. I have had many of my elders tell me that I too am "gifted" for whatever reason, and I should pray about whether or not I wish to accept this gift. I don't like to share the things that happen to me, because I am afraid people will think I am weird. But, I will share my experiences here - for some feedback.
_____
In October of 98 I moved to Alaska, where I lived and work in Youth Ministry as a missionary for the Church. The first day I arrived, I was brought to where I would live. I lived in the apartment of a building - that had many offices and was used for the Bishop and his staff. The first night I was there, I begin praying. I was afraid. I wish I could explain it, but I can't. I know this sounds weird, but I felt like I wasn't alone. When I was praying I said "Lord, for whatever reason you brought me here, I hope you can help me not be afraid. Because I don't know if I can live here". Just then the phone rang, it was a priest that I have known for almost all of my life, with out a hello she says "The first time I stayed there - I was afraid. Don't be. You will be okay".
This was only the beginning. From then on, I would hear footsteps, doors opening, and closing. And for whatever reason, I refused for the next three years to sleep in my bedroom. (later to find out, other people didn't like sleeping there either. That priest told me she woke several times to feeling as tho she was being choked).
One night, as I was up late (I lived there a lone). It was winter time, and I was in the office on the 1st floor on the computer. I thought I heard some noises, and then I seen a man walk by the office window and around the back of the building. Just to note: The yard is fenced in and theres snow on the ground.
I then heard what sounded as the Picture glass window shattering. It sounded like someone had smashed it. Now, because I seen the man walk by the window, I was scared. So, I called the Bishop and had him come there right away (He lived one block away).
When the Bishop came there - together we walked through the building. No glass. Nothing out of the ordinary, at least not on the 1st floor. We walked outside to find no footsteps in the snow where I had seen the man.
We went upstairs, and the Bishop would pace from one end of the hallway to the other saying "hmm". Together we went into the apartment, and noticed that a chair had been put in the middle of my kitchen floor, which had been sitting in the lil room down the hall. This freaked me out because I was the only one in the building, and noone ever entered the apartment without asking me.
The Bishop kept going to the far end of the hallway where this lil room was and would say "do you ever hear anything unusual here?". I said "yea, footsteps, cubboards opening and closing".
Two days later, I said to one of the staff (a priest/elder), "if there is something here - tell me that.". She smiled and said "okay everyone time for meeting with this girl". The staff then begin to tell me of the strange things that they have heard there, (not much different from my experiences) and then tell me that the only explanation is that.. when in Alaska someone dies, and the family is not living either - the ashes go to the Church. So this lil room, served as "home" for someones ashes for 2 years.
I have seen my door knob move. Too scared to grab onto it I quick layed on the floor and looked underneathe the door, and noone was there. I have seen the button on my light move and then the lights shut off.
I dont live in this building or in Ak anymore. And this is only a little bit of what I have experienced. There is more. Please keep in mind that all this time, I have been sharing these events on the phone or in person with my mother, she would always ask "have you shared this with your sister?". I would say no, and she would say "well, you should". Years later, I would find out that my sister too has these experiences.
_______
There have been several times, where for no reason, at places I have stayed overnight, weird things would happen to me. Once at someone's house, the alarm clock, resting on a night stand jumped off the table. Without mentioning it, I asked the woman who lived there who was in her house (spirits maybe), she smiled and walked away.
_______
Once while staying at a Church rectory, I felt like someone was following me down the hallway to my room. I was sharing this with a priest and asked to her to pray for me (same priest in AK). She said "there was priest who lived here, and died here. Other people have seen him. My girl don't be afraid of what you have.".
______
Another time, my fiance' said he wanted me to go to Wisconsin with him to visit his family. Immediatley, I felt strange and said "who died in that house?". He looked at me funny and said "my aunt".
________
From the time I was 9 years old (approx), I use to dream about wanting to go to the basement of my aunts house. But I would dream that I got to the door and never went in. Come to find out later, the previous owner hung himself there.
_______
My favorite story would have to be moving back to my moms house in Minnesota from AK. See, her companion of ten years had passed away when I was in Alaska. Strange things would happen at her house, and I knew his routine when he was living, so I knew it was him. I tried to tell my mom that he was there, but she was skeptic. Skeptic even though other people would report to her the same things that they experienced too. Radios and Tv's going on and off, a loaf of bread flying across the floor, his image watching her sleep in the doorway of her bedroom, her bedroom door opening and closing, locking doors and finding them wide open. My mom was skeptic until she went to the basement and seen that the washer had been completley turned around. (no clothes inside).
_________
I could go on and on with more. As I said before, I don't like to share with people, because I feel strange in doing so. I feel that I have the ability to sense these things. People have visited me. People who have passed, and have talked to me. Culturally, my grandparents taught me to keep an open mind to this stuff. So I have tried. I guess I am here, because, the paranormal interests me. Even more so now. I wish I knew other people who felt the way I did, and whom have experienced things like me. It would be comforting to know I am not the only one. Sorry for the long stories. Ill try to shorten them next time. I welcome your replys.

Well my thoughts on the subject are, that in my line of work as an investigator, I have talked with and met with people who are more tuned into what is happening around them whether you want to call that naturally or perceptively.
There are people who are more wired into their surroundings as well as there are people who would rather blab on a cell phone while shopping and run into things. I say it that way because it's true; go shopping once in a major metro area and you will see what I mean. Some people take their time and others are just here to get from point a to point b.
Another thing that I strongly believe in is that when a spirit knows there is someone that can determine a haunting from a coincidence, they will do anything and everything to let themselves be heard.
I do not claim to be psychic and never really have been able to do things that I have seen others do such as find ghosts, talk with them, or find out a place's history from an unknown source. However, I can tell you that when I go into a place, I am tagged as a paranormal investigator. Whether I am on or off duty.
See this story for one experienceNow I want you to understand that for some this is normal. Actually for many it is. Whether or not it is scary to you is completely up to you; you can accept the gift you have or you can deny what happens. Respectively it will make things either easier for you or harder.
I would suggest that you browse
http://paranormal.about.com and look in their psychic and ghost stories file. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to speak your mind and I will be happy to help you out.

What is your definition of "gifted"? By that i mean what can you do as a psychic
ojibwegurl - April 10, 2005 09:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I don't think I am Psychic. I don't know what I am. But I know that people who have prayed with me, some who havn't known me at all, have prayed that I am open to this "gift". All I know - is that I can sense when people have passed, and sometimes I see them, and have conversations with them. This dosn't happen all the time, but frequently. I am a Christian, and so it's hard for me to know how I feel about this. My sister has a lot of the same experiences. My mother knew the whole time my sister and I would share things with her - but we never talked to eachother about it. My mother also remembers being in the womb. I never knew about my sister - until recently. I don't know what to think. Or if there is someone out there who understands.
mnpsg_adam - April 11, 2005 12:50 AM (GMT)
that'd be a form of being psychic. i guess i could only explain it as you being able to keep the channel on for a little bit but over time and training, you could learn how to turn it on whenever you wanted to.
I suggest that you pick up a copy of John Edward's "One Last Time" book. It might explain a lot to you.
ojibwegurl - April 11, 2005 05:22 AM (GMT)
I am going to do that! Thank You!!
