Title: What's your opinion on orbs?
Description: Evidence or not?

Fydget - February 27, 2006 07:57 PM (GMT)
I was looking at the picture gallery on MNPIG's website and while they have a lot of impressive pictures - I was a bit disappointed to see so many photos of orbs in there - this is something I find all over the spectrum however with all kinds of different groups. How do you guys feel about orbs? Do you consider them evidence?

For me - I do not. I find in most cases that I think orbs are dust, moisture - or bugs..... or whatever. While I think there can be something to orbs - in most cases there isn't and I'm only going to say possible spirit activity if I can't seem to find another explanation for them.. No sense in getting excited over a spec of dust when you're looking for the real deal.

What do you guys think?

I have a opinion on orbs. I believe they are all mostly dust, bugs or moisture. But I do have to admit that I have seen a couple that I just don't know what they could be. I have a added question I guess, I have boxes and boxes of old photos from the 30's through the 80's there are never any orbs in these photos. Why do you think that is? Did they just throw these photos away thinking they were no good? Maybe our cameras became more advanced? Does anyone have any old black and white photos with orbs?

I won't count a orb as evidence. There are just to many other proven orbs in photos today that are not anything paranormal.

I am not sure on orbs. I leave the subject open to a maybe. I do believe that some orbs are spirits. I have seen 2 photos that I really believe are spirit orbs. (neither of which I have taken) Both looked like those ora type photographs very sparkie, it one you can see the orb and just under it is a faint shape of a person. the other was a huge glowing green orb sparkie type, inside the glowing orb is a shape of a head. the wow factor on both those photos is a 9.

I am not saying here the the duller orbs could not be spirits too, perphps they don't have the engery to put out. I just don't know just what orbs really are, so I have a opened mind about them. When I collect enought photos that I can sit down and compair them perhaps then I will be able to say oh yes that is a spirit that isn't.

I am not a huge fan of them but that isnt evident from our pictures on the website.

However, the weird thing is that the orbs that we put up are backed up by the eyewitness accounts such as the area being a hot spot for paranormal activity. If there is not a documented hotspot prior to the photo being taken, we toss out the orbs as we cannot say that they are spirits. But if there is a background on that location, we cannot say that it is not a spirit. So we have to kind of leave it up to those who view our website and do our best to put them in our positions at that time.

I would also like to say that it is very rare to find the quality spheres that we find in some "paranormal" photos in just regular family photos. Sure a lot of odd things can appear in the flash of a camera like dust, bugs, and even water droplets on the film itself but each of them have their own structure that is not similiar to what some have caught in their "orb" photos.

So I guess that leaves me to believe that we cannot "explain" what orbs and thats why so many put them as "paranormal" photos because they are the definition of the word paranormal - "unexplainable and beyond normal."

I have 40 some orb pictures I just had professionally analized and I was told they were mighty impressive! A speck of dust can't show up patially BEHIND a hand rail in a photo! You can definately tell if the dot has its OWN source of light to it and not just a reflection. Dust will have a "surface" reflection. The shape of it is a dead give a way too I was told. So it all depends on what it is you are looking at! You can't just simply sit there and say "nahh...they are all just dust"...dont be so close minded! There is tons of proof out there! Some are very hoaky though I do agree, but dont let it spoil it for the rest of the real ones! Ü

Has anyone come across any old black and white orb photos from quite a few years back? ;)

I just had read that question regarding the black and whites while I was setting up an investigation for my home with a man that used to hang here....he said he has lots of them! I will try to get some passed on to me and forward them on to you when he does Mnspirit69. Ü

I've seen orange and red orbs before but not black ones.

mnspirit69 - March 4, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
No, I have not seen black ones either, I mean the photos are so old that the film is black and white, no color.:)

Hope I did not sound snotty <_< Do you think the cameras we have now are just more advanced?

mnpsg_adam - March 10, 2006 06:54 AM (GMT)
No worries. I am not sure about the cameras.

I myself don't like orb pictures. I do have them on site and have even set up orb experiement page to try to pick what i say could be an orb. But i can't say these are not or are orbs.

I have quit using orb pictures and don't add them on site anymore. But have kept one's do have, so i will say they are some possible orbs pictures on my site just because they are part of the research.
