Title: Stearns County?
Description: I can't be the only one

Medusa - October 7, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
So, here I am in Stearns County and I'm beginning to think I'm the only one here that has any interest in the paranormal. With all the history and legends here, I'm surprised there isn't a group, but they all seem to be up north or down south. There is so much here, St. Cloud State, St. Johns, private homes, the tunnels under the city...

So, I'm looking for others in the area to at the very least get together and discuss, possibly forma group further down the road that can work on its own and get together with other groups in the state. We're kind of in the middle of everything, but have no group close enough to get involved with.

Anyone? :)

Hello medusa,
Ther should be a few people around St Cloud area is alot of people around that area and yes it does sound like there would be alot to investigate.
Try advertising see if others may be interested.. you only need 1 other person for safty to start ask friends you never know some might be interested in the paranormal.
Midnight walkers are located very close to there maybe they know of people in your area.

Just Curious about something, which tunnels under St. Cloud are you thinking of? I can think of four seperate systems, three I've been in. Not to mention a couple of the huanted buildings in the city.

The tunnels I've heard of were the ones they used to move the cars down to the river for shipping when they built a certian type of car in St. Cloud (the name escapes me). A friend of mine has been in them as a kid and thinks one of them comes out by Riverside park somewhere, also the hospital (I'm thinking it's where that big slab of cement is down on the riverbank, no other reason for it to be there that I can think of).

Which buildings have you been in? I've been in a couple on campus for classes and of course DB's. I think the one I had the best "encounter" in was the old County Stearns Theater (I think it's called 5th Avenue Playhouse now). I spent New Years Eve overnight there quite a few years ago when I was stage manager for one of the plays. Some of us wanted to stay the night and see if anything came up and they were nice enough to let us. It was an interesting night. Lots of the usual unexplained noises, some things were "moved" when we weren't around to see it and the 3rd floor costume shop got a very heavy, extremely sad feeling to it after dark. It almost felt like you had something pressing on you so you couldn't breath more and more the further up the stairs you went and at the top it was almost unbearable. The theater itself we were hoping for more from, but nothing happened in there at all. Which is odd because we would have occurances during rehearsals and performances. I've also been out to St. Johns just looking around. There's the "crack in the floor" legend in the abby, but with the heavy carpet there's no way to really tell if it's there. I've heard of the spirits in the woods around there, but have never haad a chance to go out and really investigate. I took some photos in the graveyard at sunset for an art project, but I haven't had them developed yet.
I'd love to hear what your experiences have been and where you've gone. I only know of the more well known ones around here, but I'm sure there's more to be found.
