Title: Cant get him out of my mind.
Description: Haunted cemetary

Curious - September 20, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
I just recently moved to Glencoe Minnesota and upon talking to residents I found out about Fergusens Cemetary in Plato just a few miles from my home. I have heard SEVERAL stories of diffrent people having incredible experiences there and wanted to know more. It seems there was a little boy buried there and his grave is far away from the other graves, I went today to see it and was disappointed to see that he no longer has a headstone with his name etc on it. I cannot get this little boy out of my head. I wonder constantly who he is and what happened that he was buried away from so many others. And also why he crys at night ((several people have heard him)) Since Plato is such a small town I have been unable to find any history on the website and am wondering how I would go about finding out more about this little boy and the hauntings at the cemetary? Any help would be appreciated. I have heard of some very scary happenings at night there, I went both times during the day and the only thing odd was a tree up above me kept making snapping noises but nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks for any input.

If the town has a paper see if they keep archives of it and look through them for articles relating .. alot of biggier cities have it on microfilm.
can be very time consuming but you learn alot and somtimes find out about more incidents and such.

If the town has a historical society or a historian try talking to them.

Cemtries often have burial records , try talking to the caretaker.

Death certificates at the city hall or courthouse maybe not sure how accessable they are never tried.

Thanks Dan, those are some great suggestions. The town only has 326 people and I dont believe they have a newspaper :( I dont think a historian either but I may be able to find out who the caretaker of the cemetary is from the church down the road perhaps? I am just hoping they dont think I am crazy when I start asking about a little boy who died probly a hundred years or so ago but I dont even know his name LOL. Any suggestions on how I should approach the caretaker, or church for information? It seems really strange but I almost feel propelled along to find out about this little boy, the strangest part is he is buried so far from the other graves, it was almost as if he were an outcast ? I dont even know for sure it was a little boy but thats what the stories say.

In small towns there usually is a "good ole boys" hangout. It's a good place to start getting information. You can also try the local funeral home. They would have cemetary contacts listed. Hope this additional info helps.

Find the county's historical society. There has to be a record of him or better yet, ask around town.

I have been able to find out a little bit more, I have really been digging and asking around. The little boy who died was only 7 months old, he died in 1894 and his name was Friedrich WM Ehlers, the strange thing that still is driving me crazy ((I hate a mystery that I cannot solve)) is that all the children who died around the same time as little Friedrich were buried in the front of the cemetary near the road, Friedrich is completly off by himself at the rear of the cemetary? This baffles me? His parents and family members are NOT buried in the same cemetary, which makes me wonder if this is why poor Friedrich is haunting the cemetary? Why was he so far from everyone else? and all alone? The stories of things that people have encountered out at the cemetary are amazing and I will soon be going there at night to check it out for my self, I want to order a ghost hunters book any advice? and find out more before getting in too deep in what I dont understand. There have been some pretty frightning occurences, my cousin who is only 16 was out with some friends when the cab of his truck filled with a thick green fog, so thick he couldnt see his dash board, there was the sounds of a baby screaming and my cousin panicked and hit the gas and took off , the screaming got louder as he drove away and the fog stayed in his truck for a long time along with a shrill scream. It finally disappeared, lots of stories of a green glowing mist at the cemetary at night etc etc. Any opinions on any of this? There are even more stories, it seems like a pretty intresting place.
