Title: Wild stories

Of course when you let people know that you're into the paranormal stuff they have all kinds of stories for you. Often something that they heard about or something that has happened to them firsthand. I guess one that I'd like to share with you guys is one that has kind of stayed with me. It's so fantastic that it's hardly believable but still I'm not sure what to think.

I used to work at a Dunn Brother's coffee place in between graduating from college and finding a full time job (it was extra income) and the manager there and I were working together one evening - it was dead as a doornail with nothing else to do so we sat in the comfy chairs and just started chatting about our hobbies and interests..... of course this was one of them. Suddenly he got visibly agitated and I asked him - what's up? He asked me if people shared stories with me ever - and I said yes of course. Knowing this guy - he is so level headed and such a great guy - and he was nervous about telling me the story. I can say with great confidence that I know the value of his character and have no reason to believe that he would lie to me. And nobody who has ever recounted a story to me seemed to have the difficulty that he was - I could tell it was a very upsetting experience he had before he ever told me what it was.... so here it went...

When he was about the ages 9-17 he lived out in California with his mom. The area he lived in was a little bit rual and had an old Asylum that had been abandoned and boarded up and was slated for demolition at some point in the near future - but it had been sitting there for several years in that state uninhabited. One of his friends got a new handheld video camera for his birthday - and while they were sitting around one night they decided they should go check this place out. There were about 8 of them (and he said they were all kind of punks when they were 16 - not the most well behaved group) and so they went over. They noticed that a board was loose on a window that they could get to if they boosted eachother up - so they pryed it off and got in.

They walked all around this place - no problems - hearing no sounds except once they got a good scare from a raccoon or something but that was it. Just being kids.... videotaping themselves being goons as they went along. Finally they got bored with the place - kind of disappointed that they hadn't found anything fun in there - Just an empty building. So as far as they were concerned they had a fun but uneventful night.

Later the kid with the video camera watched the tape and completely flipped. There were all kinds of things in there that weren't there when they were in. Like basic medical instruments in a certain room (He said - They were NOT there - we would have picked them up and played with them like kids do - you know?) And there was writing on a wall that said 'Bless this home' - that was not there. Also lots of orbs - which could have been dust... but what's freakiest of all.... there was someone else in the video. If you were watching the video - you would have though that he was with the group. A kid about the same age.... he just looked like he was hanging out. He continually came in and out of the video... But they all knew that he wasn't there and they had never seen him before. So his friend - on a whim looked on the web for missing kids.... and he had gone missing about 9 months previous to their excursion. So flipped the heck out - they took their video to the police.

The police didn't believe their story at all.... and they kept asking where is he? What do you know about him? They detained the guy I know and his friends and really scared them. They threatened to press charges for trespassing and of course by now the parents were involved.... finally the police were convinced the kids didn't know anything - kept the tape for evidence (not like any of them wanted it back!) and launched an investigation. Beyond that my friend didn't know anything. He said they went back (in the daytime) to the building but it was sealed up tight after the police launched a thorogh investigation searching in there. The building has since been torn down.

He did tell me the year and the place and all of the whos and whens but I don't remember. But I thought that was the scariest thing I've ever heard of. And I had to promise not to tell anyone with whom we were both aquainted because he was so afraid that people would think he was a nutjob. He absolutely refuses to go anywhere near any place that is supposedly haunted. He's just way too freaked out..

So I don't know what to think. Any comments on my story are welcome but personally I'd like to hear more!
