Title: Lakewood
Description: has anyone been there?

I took a look at the local (twin cities) ghost sniffers site and they said 'coming soon'. Have any of you guys been up to Lakewood Cem. in Minneapolis? They have brochures for self-guided tours of the cemetary - all of the graves of Minnesota's most notables. I was going to go around just to look at the sculptures and artwork - as well as the architecture. But maybe I'll bring a camera (and a friend!) with me. Who knows.

A few of my friends work as their garden and greenhouse crew - they employ a great team of horticulturists (which is what I am) to take care of its massive grounds. I've heard a few interesting stories.

Just thought I'd ask....

I haven't been there yet. Where is it located? What street and what street.

It sounds very much like Forest Lawn Cemetery where I came from. Forest Lawn is a huge great old cemetery, many people go there to jog or walk it's more a park setting with tomb stones. Funny, a lot of the ghost hunters back home had never thought of going there to see if any thing will show up on film. I am sad to say I didn't get into ghost hunting untill after I moved here.

Oh it's HUGE! My friend and I went there last month and took tons of pictures - in the afternoon though.... we didn't catch anything - nor were we really looking - we were just getting a sense of the place and taking pictures of things we found to be cool - which was a LOT. We worked our way around at a good pace and was there for several hours. All of your who's who of Minnesota is buried there - tons of monuments.... Their website is great. They have a self guided tour thing in there and you can look up a burial.... it's fabulous. I highly recommend any of you down in the mankato area (or otherwise) to take a field trip up north to check it out. And of course if you do - you're all welcome at my place for food or whatever!

On the twin cities ghost hunter's site they have lakewood listed as 'coming soon' so I'm not sure what that means. I suppose I should email them and ask if it means they either want to get out there and it's on a to-do list or they have and just haven't had time to post their findings.

It's in Minneapolis - the front (north) of it faces 36th St - the east side is bordered by kings highway/Dupont Ave - to the south it's the peace garden/rose garden and to the west lake harriet parkway.

Here's their website: www.lakewoodcemetery.com

I've been there a few times.

Once, several years ago I went and brought a black and white camera. I wasn't intending to catch any ghosts, I just though the headstones would make cool phootos. They did. But no ghosts that I can see. Not even so much as a lens flare. :(

Maybe I'll try again.

The one time I was there I didn't get anything.

#1 - there may be nothing at all. Who knows.

#2 - It's so huge you'd have to be conducting an ongoing investigation of certain areas. Chances are good that you would catch something but it's the proverbial needle in a haystack if you don't know where to look.

But it's still fun. So you never know..........
