Hi, I live in Minnesota and have had several ghost expirances. I am egar to learn more anout the paranormal. Right now I think my house has two ghosts which I believe to be my grandparents. My Grandfather from my dads side and my grand mother from my moms side. I have always been fascinated in the paranormal, but have never had the opportunity to get any real information on it, aside from drawing my own conclusions.
We start with my grandfather. We had lived in our house for four years. The house was built brand new for my parents and has had no previous owners. My grandfather had been ill for some time with cancer and old age, he was never the same since my dads mom died. So he came to live with us in the basement. My parents had a basic apartment built into the basement just for him. One morning he was feeling ill and had to go to the hospital where he later died, but he had lived in the basement for four years before he died. My grandmother on my moms side fell ill with cancer in the winter of 1994. She was taken to die in the basement. There in the basement she did die four years after my dads father.
Now, I have had many 'ghost encounters' there in the basement. I feel like somebody is always watching me. Does anybody know why my grandfather died on my birthday? The fact is that I don't even know if the spirits are my grandparents or someother being. Although I normally do not feel scared sometimes I do. Also, rarely I have dreams of total evil that scare me so much that I can't get out of bed even though I am 21 years old. I always assumed that it was them since they died there. Also I moved to the basement in high school and sleep there which I could never do before. My uncle says I am crazy to live in the basement because he gets complete chills every time he goes down there (if he does at all). In my bedroom there are no windows and two doors. I also think that the spirits move to the middle level durring the night when everyone is asleep and that level is dormant. Durring the day since I moved into the basement I think that they stay in the pool room which is totally isolated from any contact except for one door, nobody goes in it. It is just one of those things you can feel.

Ghosts can and usually do like to stay in levels that are not used by humans. We don't really know why but wouldn't you want your own space as well?

From reading your story, it could be that there are multiple entities in your house. It's hard to tell without an investigation. Where in Minnesota do you live? Northern, Southern, or near the Twin Cities? I would suggest looking up a group there.

As for your dreams, I don't know if its your imagination that could be getting the best out of you or perhaps there was something in the basement prior to this? Did any of your grandparents mention any weird claims or stories that they had experienced in the basement?

I believe that spirits act the way they would when they where alive if it is your grandparents i would assume they wouldnt want you to have bad dreams so i am not sure they are tied in .. being as it was a one owner house it would be a fairly safe guess it is them .. have you looked into the history of the land?
I would have to agree with adam , you may want to consider having sombody do an investigation.
If it can be found that it is your grandparents it may ease your mind and you may feel more relaxed knowing it is them, and the dreams may end.

I Believe that if an spirit doesn't want to contact us,they will stay try to stay away
from us living because we put off mixed energy.

Example of Mixed energy would be. If you watching Sad movie with some funny parts. One
minute you are crying next you are laughing. This can give off Negitive and Positive energy.
Negitive would be crying (Sad, Angry), Positive would be Laughing (Happy). Crying when your
happy would put off positive.


Another reason to i believe is they may scare you and cause you to put off negitive energy.

If an spirit doesn't want to communicate it wouldn't want these mixed energy. Spirits can
draw energy from other sourses such as electric appliances, electric lines, etc.
which wouldn't be mixed of negivity and positive.

These spirits i believe are seen and heard by accident.

Now an spirit that may be trying to communicate with you. may be trying so much that they
don't care what energy they are getting.

Interesting theory Mel. Would these spirits that you talk about be those who you would consider to not know that they are deceased so they continue on with their lives? And maybe one way to look at this is from the viewpoint of Hollywood's "The Others" motion picture where the spirits view the living to be what the living sees as spirits.

Its kinda like looking through a veil from different sides but in the end you see the same effect.

Those spirits that don't know they are dead may be alot like the movie "The Others". Also they may see and hear us and try to talk to us, not knowing that we can't see and hear them.

But those that stay behind for a reason are not always wanting to communicate with us, and they are trying to stay away from us to keep on with what ever reason they stayed. They may not have any problems until we interfer with what they are are wanting. Like moving into a home that they are attached to.maybe they don't have problem with you in there home. They may stay out of your way, and go to an area in the house that is less traveled. They may only come out when they feel it's safe and these times is when you spot them.

Some places stay inactive until someone remodels the home. If an spirit is attached to an home this may cause them to be upset since you are changing there home. If this is the case they may not care if they come around you.

I think same with us living it depends on the spirit. Myself i do not like to be around alot of people and prefer to be alone. So as an Spirit i may stay away from people.

I have found if you go to a place with alot of history but is an tourist trap you are not as likely to gather as much evidence as an location that is less traveled.

Thank you for your replies. In reply to Mel, I think that I emit negative engery around the spirits because I know they are there and frankly they scare me. I do agree with your theory however. I have heard that sprirts become visiable according to the abundance of ambinant engery in the room. All summer long I will be conducting simple expiraments and documenting what happens to keep you all posted. Hey it happened again! Around Agu 20th I had another encounter. This is creepy. So it was the the weekend of my sisters wedding and I had a guest at the house that slept upstairs and I slept down stairs. That night we both herad distinct noises of doors opening. the reason is that we thought each other was going around an trying to scare each other, but we both went to sleep right away. Also that night night as I have mentioned I had another dream. This one was all too real. Just to clarify I am Lutheran and go to church and all that. My dream was me asking the devil to enter my soul. I awoke more frightened than ever. I felt as if I were child instead of a young man since I did not want to get out of my bed when I awoke. The feeling I had was of scheer terror. Anybody ever had that before? Please let me know.

My Husband and I have moved into a home 3 years ago and have learned to live with the with whoever comes our way. We have both had dreams of dread--our way of dealing with it is to ask God to rid us of the bad dreams before we go to sleep. Try to keep track of when these dreams occur--I have found that we are affected about a week after the full moon--we also have alot of activity around the house.

well im not sure that this would be your grandparents because from my experience it seems that peoples personallities carry out into the afterlife so unless they scared you when they were alive im sure its not there intention to now. Although as creepy as it might be remember that this is something natural and if it is your grandparents im sure its just there way of letting you know that they are ok, and sometimes after you aknowledge that they will go about with there exsisitence in whatever form that may be, keep in mind these are just theroies and what not there is probley an infinate amount of variables in this equation but if you would like an investigation done just contact adam @ adam@minnesotaghosts.com and if nothing else im sure we could determine if there is a presence/how strong it is/ and possibley give you some piece of mind, hope you found this useful, Jim

Hi there Im in the twin cities also.
I found Your exspereinces to be interseting.
I had some unusual exspereinces while living in wis.
When I moved I was rather happy to get into a different house.
I didnt have any thing happen ,for quit awhile , and the house seemed to be quite.peaceful.
I think it was into the second year afted the boiler blew up , things got a little more inter esting.
The house is onehundred and fifteen years old.The basement had to be cleaned out because of the water in the basement , it has a dirt floor.
In the process they removed a lot of things that belonged to the origanal owner,including antiques.
At that time activety picked up, that goes with the idea that things change if You move things in Their inviorment if Thier hanging out in the basement.
I know the history of the house, the land ladys father built the house.
I would see and feel things from time to time
I dont feel any thing negative about the house.
We have nieghbors upstairs now, and since They have gone up in the attick
The activety has gone up more.
The one thing they see is a man comming from the attick doorway dressed in a robe ,He walks though ,and out the door ,down the stairs He goes.
So even though I have moved ,things still happen.
So its My feeling that its the owner of the house or the old owner.
As far as dreams go I thought that was interesting too..I wonder why they come with ghosts?
I know when I was younger I had a dream that really had Me wondering what the heck?
I was talking to a man in a turbin ,and He showed Me a ship that had split in half
He then showed Me a pitcher of ornge juice , and a gold medal ( olimpic).
Sometimes it all comes in symbols.
I have dreampt about a bear ( full grown) since I was little.
The bear is never nice to Me, its usualy chasing Me.
Its wierd Im wierd ,but thats ok.
Unless they pick Me up or scare My Son I dont worry about it , Its kinda the norm now. Benalano out.....
