A Tale From Any World
In the beginning the mother lived alone with her two children. The mother loved her children, and they her. And even though the two children were very different they loved each other as well.
The oldest of the children was the daughter. Much like the mother she was wise and could speak to the animals, and her beauty was like that of a frail flower.
Her younger brother was a wild one. Black of skin and strong as a mountain, he would often cause much destruction, but whenever he destroyed something, his sister would create something more beautiful in it's place.
The children never thought to question their mother, and the mother loved them in silence as eternity slowly passed.
One day the clouds darkened, and a storm came, bringing rain, thunder and lightning. It was the father who came home. He had been gone for a long time, and no one knew where he had been. The children hid. The boy in a dark cave, and the girl in one of her tranquil spots in the forest.
That night the man again planted his seed in the woman. He did so with passion and fury, and when he was done, he left without words. Life went on as it had, and inside the mother, a new life grew.
When the mother was ready to give birth, the daughter stayed by her side and watched over her, and the son carried water and food to her. At the moment of birth, the father came in, furious as ever, to watch the new life come into being. Except that the child had no horns, the child was like him, and it looked about in wonder at everything.
As the child grew up, it's brother taught it how to fight, and its's sister taught it about nature, but where ever the child went, things changed. It taught dog how to hunt for it, and horse how to carry it. It changed the flow of rivers, and took away the forests to cover large areas with the plants that it liked.
The mother loved this strange child, but she also worried. She tried to discipline the child, but the child got angry and turned to it's father. The brother, wild as he was, would sometimes destroy the works of the child. The child grew furious at this, and now, whenever they met, they would fight. Finally the sister went to the child, to speak with it and guide it, but the child had no patience for her lessons, and ignored her.
In the meantime, the father taught the child cunning and strategy, all the skils of warfare, and the next time the child met it's brother, it chased him away, into the beautiful groves of the sister, which he destroyed in hurt anger. Such was the rage of the brother, that the sister could not calm him, and she was forced to use trickery to repel him. After this, the brother hid away in the caves of the underworld. But the sister could not trick the child, who no longer aknowledged her existence, and soon her precious forests were few and her animals had dwindled in number.
The mother wept for her children, and the father now raised the child as if it were his only one.
In the meantime, the siblings stay close with the mother, and await the time when the father will leave the child and again go wandering, and the child will come to the mother to be forgiven.
