In many traditions of Wicca, there are 3 different types or levels of
handfasting (marriage).
1. A year and a day -- obviously can't be a legal ceremony
2. lifetime -- this can be a legal ceremony, if whoever is officiating is
registered with the local goverment offices as a minister and files the
appropriate paperwork
3. soul mate -- for eternity -- usually not recommended, except for those
who have already been married for a number of years.

If you are going to have a Handfasting....
You may want to have 4 Quarter callers.
East caller: Lights a Sage bundle and Purifies you and your intended.
Lights a Yellow Candle.
Then calls in the Air.

South: Lights a Pure Red 3 Wick candle and calls the element of Fire.
West: Lights a Blue Candle and Pours water into a bowl.
Then lights a Blue Candle to represent the Water and calls the water in.

North: Takes a small Ivy and Plants it in a Pot to represent Growth.
Lights a Green Candle and calls in the Element Of Mother Earth. ( This
plant shall move into your home with you).

Your hands are tied together during the ceremony to represent the Bond
between you.
You may wish to choose a long beautiful white thin rope and empower it
with Knot Magick prior to the ceremony.

Your Hp (and, or) Hps will help you with the Actual ceremony.
