Title: Server Problems
Description: What's wrong with the server
raistlin - June 5, 2003 11:51 PM (GMT)
Sometimes when you try to visit the page/forum/message board you encounter that there is an error in the page your visiting. So far since the moderators has little access to the main source code of the server. Most page/forum/message board error would be due to the maintenance of the server of invisionfree.com .

I experience that too. It's probably in invision's server. Because ryanclive's gamer zaibatsu forums was also down yesterday (and it's also under invision).
I hope invisionfree.com could fix this soon. ^_^

a lot of invision boards were down yesterday... and since i don't even have any access to the source code to mess things up... definitely its not me :P

This has been the cause of yesterday's downtime, I suppose:
InvisionFree GrowthInvisionFree was started with the purpose of offering remotely hosted Invision Power Boards at no cost. We originally expected to serve a couple hundred small/medium boards.
InvisionFree has passed what we expect and thus it is time for some new goals. Here is the outline of our new goals. We will provide regular updates on how we are progressing and give polls to see how you think we are progressing.
Features: While IPB is our roots, there is no reason why InvisionFree must stick only to IPB standard features. We plan to add small, medium, and large features. InvisionFree v2 will provide the majority of these new features.
Stability and Uptime: We wish to provide an uptime you would expect with a paid host but instead at no cost. This will be achieved by fewer upgrades that require boards to be taken offline and more 'silent upgrades' that are not noticed by any users. Also, the database will be built to be more sturdy. Don't expect to see a database error or 'WPOD' for long. We have already begun to rapidly eliminate these annoyances. In the end, we hope that you never notice your board to be not working or unreachable. As InvisionFree continues to grow, we will also purchase new servers to keep up with demand.
Paid Services: Once you grow used to your board and it grows, you don't want to become trapped in the limits of a free service. We will offer a variety of paid services at low cost that will reduce or remove the limits of a free service and even add new features.
Support: We wish to provide faster support and better documentation. I will be writing documentation that should solve every common problem. In addition there will be a new tool for the support team to use that will make sure each topic is solved quickly and that no topic sneaks by without being answered. Our goal is to have the majority of problems replied to within 12 hours of being posted and solved within 2 days. Paid support can see even better response times: 0.5 to 3 hours for an initial response during 10 AM to 11 PM EST. And all topics should be solved within 1 day of receiving the required information from the poster.
Website: The website will undergo an overhaul. A detailed searchable board directory will be added. The layout of the site will be improved. All the information given on the site will be re-written to be more extensive and useful.
We hope to make InvisionFree better than free/paid hosts. Even as your board grows we hope to have you stick with InvisionFree. Expect the first update on how things are progressing within 1 week.

Depende sa setting sa Admin Control Panel...
Supposed to be ganito na talaga yung takbo ng forums. Dati kasi di pa nila naupdate. Since InvisionFree is running on a free server, it needs sponsors hence the pop-up of advertisements. It was only recently that they were able to implement the scripting for the pop up ads, na kasama dun sa overhauling ng InvisionFree boards (the update information I posted previously, yung tumagal for about a day).
Sa admin settings may options where to place the advertisement. It's either on the top-most part of the messageboard/forum or right next to the main banner/logo; Or on pop-ups.
I hope that was able to answer your concerns :)
