raistlin - May 28, 2003 12:29 AM (GMT)
the 70 patty burger from my estimate would cost around 18K yen above which is roughly 8K pesos above

I wanted to send you guys pics of one of the kookiest fashion trends right now ... but I'm not sure it'll show, since it's from the TEENTalk forums. --;

(Yes, corny ako ... nasa TEENTalk ako. Talk about sleeping - or, in this case, chatting - with the enemy! XD )

Another Crazy Fashion from Japan

What you see below are NOT see-thru skirts. They are actually prints on the skirts to make it look as if the panties are visible and the current rage in Japan.

TEENTalk Trendspotting - Dare to wear? =) Aliw toh! Promise!

Meron din itong pictures of Visual Kei (Japanese-style goth) on the same board.

I'm serious when I tell you this particular forum was one of only 2 reasons why I joined (the other being I was a lurking member who, by some stroke of bad luck, could use every single feature of the FemaleNetwork sites save for the forums...). XD

Maaliw kayo sa mga replys. XD Grabe ang ignorante talaga minsan ng ibang tao dito sa Pilipinas though...

the see through skirts are not a fashion here in japan. i haven't even seen one of those skirts being sold or someone wearing it. Especially when i was visiting Tokyo and went to shibuya and akihabara. Maybe i'm just plain unlucky or what but so far i haven't seen one yet. It can be a digitally altered picture (morphed) to look like it though.

I think it was already posted somewhere online that those skirts were actually a hoax.

Actually, I've seen a few people wearing those kinds of apparel in Robinson's Galleria a few months ago, but they look nowhere near the ones Haruka just posted. The ones I saw were obvious prints. On the other hand, like Fujita said, the pics posted are probaly hoaxes and are simply a product of an image editing program.

Ibaraki Pref. to ban masks in assembly

Yomiuri Shimbun

The Ibaraki Prefectural Assembly is planning an amendment to assembly regulations to prohibit its members from wearing face masks inside the assembly chamber.

Assembly members affiliated with the Liberal Democratic Party, the largest group in the assembly, will submit the amendment to the assembly steering committee Wednesday.

The purpose of the amendment is "to set a national precedent to uphold the integrity of the assembly," said a senior official of the LDP Ibaraki prefectural federation of party chapters.

Controversy arose when masked professional wrestler The Great Sasuke was elected to the Iwate Prefectural Assembly in April, and then refused to take his mask off at assembly meetings.

The amendment is expected to be passed, the first time the banning of masks in prefectural assemblies will be stated expressly in writing, an official of the National Association of Chairmen of Prefectural Assemblies said.

Although no current Ibaraki assembly members wear face masks, the furor over Sasuke attracted a great deal of attention and prompted the steering committee to take up the matter.

Bank beefs up ATMs against backhoe attacks

Yomiuri Shimbun

Kyoto Hokuto Shinkin Bank has installed steel girders at automated teller machine booths in Kyoto Prefecture in response to a spate of robberies in which the cash machines were smashed open with backhoes.

The bank, headquartered in Miyazu in the prefecture, is the only bank in the country to have taken such a measure.

In March, robbers used a backhoe to smash open one of about 20 ATMs the bank operates in Maizuru, making off with about 10 million yen.

It costs about 800,000 yen to secure one ATM with the bright red girders. The bank has introduced the extra protection at six locations.
