I love Encore Encore, I've known it longer than I know most of my current friends. I believe it was July of 1999 when I first stumbled upon it. I was looking for a 1 token Marvel vs. Capcom machine when everything else was 2 tokens and lo and behold, there was Encore Encore! It got me through a lot of tough crap in college. In 2000 when I failed Algebra, they loaded up Spawn multiplayer and it got me and the guys going there until I finally passed my summer classes. In the same year, I started playing Capcom vs. SNK the first time to forget all my worries. It was also there hen Raul got into a fight with Kumag Boy and nearly killed him ^_^ Go Raul! 2001 also it became the hang-out of the YD, Chris, Galo, Ricki, Jiro, and I if I remember clearly. Jiro used to dance all day and play Tekken there. Chris hogged up the Guilty Gear X machine until it was like 2004 ^_^ We met Puff, Ron, Master Nico there as well and held tournaments for GUilty Gear! I also met Deo and Gerard there for the first time. I also met Erl there for the first time. Chris' first date was there as well! So many relationships were created and ruined in Encore Encore. I watched Jiro and Rem start their love affair there and as the years passed by, Encore Encore lived to tell their love story. It was a place of learning, I mentored Almond there for awhile and we had our wisdom posted there forever just like Plato and Almondtotle este Aristotle. When Percussion Freaks 1 was posted there, I learned the drums, Percussion Freaks 3 and 5 came along and even Guitar Freaks. Amazing how one can develop a talent with just an arcade place. How can one forget the Gundam Machines and the match-ups between dumb-@$$ team, jones' team, old Newtypes, and Erl's Newtypes. We met our Taiwanese friend there, Nathan. And all those illegal activities with the ticket sales solicitations, destroying of public property and stealing credits. Who could forget those days? It became our office, our tambayan, and our second home.
Sad to say, when 2003 hit, we took it for granted. We went on with our lives, got jobs, continued with our studies. We left it alone. It was sad, we only came back to it during our free times and it became empty. During Saturdays it had its share of guests, but not like the 2001-2002-early 2003 days where we just hung out there.
Now April 29, 2004 will be Encore Encore's last day. They are taking each machine one by one. By tomorrow, it will open and close normally but it will be its last.
TO THOSE WHO LOVE THIS PLACE, LET US SHOW OUR FINAL RESPECTS LATER AT
8 PM AND WATCH ITS FINAL CLOSING BY 9 PM. PASS THIS ON WHO LOVE THIS
PLACE AND HAVE WONDERFUL MEMORIES THERE.
