Can anyone help? I recently borrowed some Furuba episodes from Joan, but it doesn't seem to be working properly. They're really not in VCD format (it's .avi), so I just copied them from the CD into my HD so as not to strain my CD-ROM.

Everytime I play them, audio is good, but the picture lags behind as if it's on slow-mo. Naturally, you hear the characters talking miles ahead and out of sync with with you're watching.

I already tried several players like Media Player 9 and Div-X (It doesn't work with Div-X because of a problem with the audio). I even downloaded the latest player of RealPlayer plus (RealOne), but the results were the same. I tried playing the CD, same thing.

I've never had this problem before. Is it because of my codecs (although the codecs MP9 and RealOne were using were up-to-date)? Is my PC too slow (I've been playing .avi before and I've never had a problem like this)?

*sniff* ganda pa naman ng furuba ;_;

wala sa codecs yung problem. baka hindi na kayang i-handle ng pc mo yung resolution saka size nung avi. it happened to me before, i tried playing an epi of Happy Lesson in my mom's laptop... hindi sumasabay yung video sa sound. :angry:

Thanks for the help!

*sniff* antigo na talaga ang PC ko ;_;

try lowering your desktop resolution from 32-bit to 16-bit or from 16-bit to 256 colors.

it might help also help if you get a cooling fan for your celeron XD

but the best solution for everything... bili ka ng bago :P

It helps...sometimes...

Kapag AVI or DIVX, hardware dependent kasi unlike MPEG na may sariling streaming data. Most probably sa hardware setup mo. Konting tweaks and modifications lang siguro...

Plus, natural na nangyayari na naglalag behind yung sound or yung animation. Hindi kasi sabay yung streaming ng AVI or DIVX videos (magkaibang filter passage) kaya ganun. Kahit sakin nahuhuli e. Try watching the clip from the beginning, without clicking on the video progress bar.

Kasi last time bago na reformat pc ko, nanonood ako ng DIVX daming errors, di ko alam version 5 na pala encoding nung pinanonood ko, while the codec installed in my pc is version 4.

Oh-kay. I am trying my damned hardest to follow what's going on but ... hindi ko talaga siya kaya. :o :( --; :angry: -__- :unsure: ;_; :blink: :wacko: :stare:

Paki-explain naman po ang mga ito:
  • codec
  • .avi
  • filter passage
  • Celeron
  • cooling fan (for the Celeron)

Thanks heaps! --;

AVI = audio video interleave; audio-video standard designed by Microsoft

cooling fan = a small fan usually on top of the CPU chip which is used as a cooling unit (mabilis kasi mag-init ang CPU eh )

CODEC = compression / decompression module ; coder-decoder ; a software component which is used to compress or decompress an audio or video data into a format readable by the computer

CELERON = intel's trade name for its low end pentium II microprocessors a much cheaper version of the pentium II microprocessor family
http://www.intel.com/Celeron/

filter passage = don't know the exact meaning in computer terms ... but in chemistry that's another type :P

Filter passage - Dumadaan kasi yung bitrates (or data packets, units of data in other words) sa mga passages. Parang checkpoint sila who makes sure tama yung streaming ng data. Pag mali yung streaming, finifilter yung data packet and the data packet is sent back to the source (say the video file). Once the source receives the data packet again, it will readjust its streaming to the correct "frequency" and then it will resend the data packet. Supposed to be sabay sabay yun, in a continous stream, fixed yung dami nya at yung flow. If the video is compressed, say in DIVX technology, these data packets are then repacked. Let's all asume yung data packets parang "package". Ang ginagawa ng compression, tatanggalin nya yung unnecessary headers and frames. Tatanggalin nya lahat, basta di nya ginagalaw yung pinakacore. In turn, gagaan tuloy yung package, wc results to lesser KB (data size).

Ngayon, since yung headers and frames ang nagdedetermine ng order at organization nila (for example, data packet 1 will tell data packet 2 "uyy, two at a time lang tayo") e wala na yun dahil sa compression, hindi na tuloy fixed yung data streaming nila sa fiter passage. "Burst" or pabigla bigla na yung streaming, which is why pag nag jump ahead ka ng DIVX videos, may tendency na mag hang yung video kasi nag bu-"burst" yung mga data packets sa filter passage, at hinahanap pa ng video software mo kung saan yung last activity ng data packets.

To Raistlin and Ryanclive:

Grabe, bow ako sa technical know-how n'yo!!! ~booow~ :o

Wala, bulok lang talaga ang PC ko... ginawa ko na lahat eh (lowered the resolution, stopped some programs in the background from running, adjusted the display properties of my media player), kaso wala talaga.

*sniff* ang masama pa 'nun, baka next year pa ako makabili ng medyo updated na PC ;_;

raistlin - July 4, 2003 01:33 AM (GMT)
parehas lang tayo JM no ako nga ala akong PC dito eh ... PC ko lang yung PC ng office :P pero sa bahay ala din... just trying to catchup on technology via reading :P pero beyond that bulok PC ko :P

ryanclive - July 31, 2003 03:51 PM (GMT)
Thanks JM... :lol:

Yep me too. I usually read infos from sites, comparing them with what I know and for the most part, hands-on ko nakuha yung infos, if there any in correlation ^^
