Title: Changes to UN Resolutions

Micon - April 29, 2004 12:41 PM (GMT)
In the past UN resolutions have been passed that have been poorly worded, and may be bad resolutions to begin with. By targeting specific resolutions and rewording them I think that we can make a difference.

Please post here any changes to any UN resolutions that you would like to see changed. These can be resolutions that fair or just plain bad resolutions.

Micon, are you suggesting that we changed passed UN resolutions?

Because we can't according to this thread

Does this mean we can repeal proposals yet?

I'm guessing no...

Tisonica - currently there's still no way to repeal legislation. Again, there are discussions going on about the manner in which this feature could be integrated and about how it would be coded into the game. I wouldn't be holding my breath, though. A major change like this would be more likely to turn up in NS2 rather than here.

As far as I know, the only way to repeal a resolution is to Legalise it, or make it Illegal. An example would be "Legalise Prostitution." As this cannot be repealed, the logical alternative is to "Make Prostitution Illegal." There's also a vast number of these and this example is very overplayed.

I think what Micon is saying is that we could reword existing Resolutions, and resubmit them with a more pragmatic approach to praxis.

Obviously we cannot repeal the resolution but what we could do is reword a previously passed resolution in order to encompass the spirit of the resolution. How many resolutions have we voted on where the wording is less than stellar, or the resolution doesn't make sense.

What I am sugesting is that we look at some previously passed resolutions and see how we can improve on them i.e. to tighten up some loopholes etc.
