Title: Canada's Map

Old Ogastein - April 11, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
Now the current version of the map is very hard to edit so I threw together this one:

I added names based on the people that were online while I made it. If you would like a spot on the map and are not on the one above post here!

Also if you have input on the map, don't like this design, etc. please input it, it is always appreciated.

Can I get on the map OO. Newfie is already taken, so anywhere is fine.

Thanks :fonz:

I love it and I'm my favorite color too!! :congratz:

Could I suggest that we annexe Alaska, and roughen up the sourthern border a bit so it looks like a coastline. That gives us a continental map. (If you then rotate it, it might take incomers a while to twig :) )

I'd also suggest a slightly smaller average country size. At the current scale, you could only fit in 5 or 6 more (plus Alaska if you go for that.)

My old spot was an L shape, starting a bit above half-way up the West side of Hudson bay, then sweeping inland and connecting to the North shore of the mainland near the west end of Yellow Joy. I'd quite like it back if that wouldn't be too much trouble.

Thanks.

Add me please.

Boreal Tundra - April 12, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
Other than the fact I have a 75% completed nation map based on my previous location (Victoria Island) currently occupied by Kana Da. (BTW, that's a reasonable country size, allows for a good number of nations.) If KD doesn't mind I'd like to get my original spot back.

Also, I agree, annex Alaska (skipping the island chain) and rough up the southern edge to make it more a continent.

I'm cool with it. Move me anywhere. :)

Aw, drat. For a minute or so there I thought BT was going to invade KD, the whole map would have to be redrawn with 'disputed areas' in fluoro orange, and everyone would be arguing into next year about the finer points of the fourth Geneva Convention.

Bummer.

Why not? I actually had to re-form my nation as Kanada 2, so it would be over pretty fast. . . :P

I'm wondering as to remove KG and TV (who no longer have nations in Canada) from the map to free up space for others :(

Almonaster - April 28, 2007 10:49 AM (GMT)
Probably.

This was why I was saying - be careful with country size.

Ess - April 28, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
I cannot see the names on the 2 black areas.

Gemetrians are a hearty people, kind of like stew. They also keep for a long time frozen.

Perhaps your planners have been reading Herbert (Hellstrom's Hive), or studying in Packilvania (East Pacific - the Hive).

The citizens of Boreal Tundra wish a fond farewell to the former occupation forces of Kanada...

Thanks, now I have inspiration to complete that map! If I can just find time!!! :wall:

Here's a base map with the geographical modifications we discussed near the start of the thread.

O-O, if you want to use this, don't grab the jpg. I can supply it as an .xcf file for GIMP, or as separate sea/coast/land layers in .png or other formats - just let me know what you can use.

Old Ogastein - April 30, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
OMG, thank you so much AL, I will get right on making the new one!

Confused  why can't I grab it as a jpeg copy it onto photoshop (what I use and edit it through there?)

Almonaster - April 30, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
Because .jpg is a lossy format.

It's excellent for the final version for posting, but not for re-work.If you check carefully, you will find that not all the "white" pixels are the same colour. The same goes for the blue and the grey. Some of the details are blurred, in ways the eye tends to miss, but editing programs will notice and then make a mess of. It will be much harder to separate out all the elements.

.png or .xcf are non-lossy, and will preserve exact colours without blurring.

EDIT: Since you're using photoshop, I've E-Mailed you a .psd version. Sorry if this conversation came across as bossy - it wasn't meant like that. I just believe this approach will make life a lot easier for you down the line.

If it's available, NW Alaska would be nice.

Woa, the new base map looks so much better. Especially with the coast lines and lakes, there are now many more nice places. Very good work. :fonz:

Discordonia - May 13, 2007 04:17 AM (GMT)
If Southampton Island is available, it would be glorious for Discordonia.

Higsantium - May 21, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
If its not too much trouble, the next edition, Graham and Moresby Islands, the island group north of Vancouver Island would be a great place for little Higsantium.
