Title: My departure (and return)
Liarg - January 31, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
To the nations of Canada: Following is a slightly edited version of a PM sent to Carbanousa this morning. Edits have been placed in italics for clarification or to remove potentially offensive statements...
Carb,
I moved my nations out of Canada in the wake of the situation that I have caused with the South Pacific because I did not want to draw Canada into any type of inter-regional incident and risk repercussions to our region from them. However, upon reflection of the entire situation, I have moved Liarg back to Canada. After careful consideration of my words, (which I do in fact regret) , I have come to the conclusion that in speaking, of my own accord and not representing anyone in Canada other than myself, I have done nothing wrong. I have merely exercised my right to have an opinion and to speak it freely, which is something that Canada has always supported and stood for. In reviewing my statements, and reviewing the definitions of slander and libel, I do not think that my words fall into the category of libel, neither would they be slander if spoken verbally. My words were not directed at any one individual, but at the collective government of another region. My words, although harsh, have not brought any injury to any person, nor to the region as a whole. People who know me know that I am opinionated, and prone to speak first and think later, and those who know the South Pacific region have already formed their own opinions. I seriously doubt that the region has been harmed in any way because of my statements, but the fact remains that libel (or slander) is more for false words that bring injury to an individual. The fact that certain members of that region have reacted in the way that they have only solidifies my (opinion) of censorship, oppression and violation of the right to free speech. Every society and every government has its critics. No government can make everyone happy all of the time. Since when do we not have the right to voice our opinions…about any topic including our government, or any other government for that matter? At the time of my posts, I was a citizen of both Canada and the South Pacific, and had at least one nation in each region. (Actually 3 in Canada and one in the SP). My initial feelings towards their reactions to my words were of remorse, and guilt for bringing this negative attention to our region. However looking back I see that my words instigated a reaction that does nothing but support my beliefs and allegations. (removed)
At any rate, I am back and you (Carbanousa) have my endorsement as delegate. I will try to temper my words in the future and not cause unnecessary incidents such as this, but I will not allow my freedoms to be squashed by the self-righteous indignation of others.

Welcome back, Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back, To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around, But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya) Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've hot him on the spot, welcome back, Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. |

I loved that song when I was a kid. The theme from SWAT was pretty nifty too.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this tropic port,
aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
the skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day,
for a three hour tour, a three hour tour………
The weather started getting rough,
the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,
the Minnow would be lost; the Minnow would be lost.
The ship took ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with Gilligan, the Skipper too,
the Millionaire, and his Wife,
the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann,
here on Gilligan's Isle.
……
So this is the tale of our castaways,
they're here for a long, long time.
They'll have to make the best of things,
it's an uphill climb.
The first mate and his skipper too,
will do their very best,
to make the others comfortable,
in the tropic island nest.
No phones, no lights, no motor cars,
not a single luxury.
Like Robinson Crusoe,
it's primitive as can be.
So join us here each week my friend,
you're sure to get a smile.
From seven stranded Castaways,
Here on Gilligan's Isle.

Deep inside the forest
Is a door into another land
Here is our life and home
We are staying, here forever
In the beauty of this place all alone
We keep on hoping
Maybe
There's a world where we don't have to run
And maybe
There's a time we'll call our own
Livin' free in harmony and majesty
Take me ho-ome
Take me home
Walkin' through the land
Where every living thing is beautiful
Why does it have to end
We are calling, oh so sadly
On the whispers of the wind
As we send a dying message
Maybe
There's a world where we don't have to ru-un
Maybe
There's a time we'll call our own
Livin' free in harmony and majesty
Take me ho-ome
Take me home
(Maybe)
There's a world where we don't have to ru-un
Maybe
There's a time we'll call our own
Livin' free in harmony and majesty
Take me ho-ome
Take me home
(Maybe)
Maybe there's a world where we don't have to ru-un
Maybe
There's a time we'll call our own
Livin' free in harmony and majesty
Take me ho-ome
Take me home

You mean we can't just do this music thang anywhere and everywhere?
Liarg, Will and Holly
On a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever knoooooown...
High on the rapids
It struck their tiny raft.
And plunged them down a thousand feet below.
To the Land of the Cheese.
To the Land of the Cheese.
To the Land of the Cheeeeeeeeese....
Sarisataka! Run!

I suspect that as long we install a hot tub like the one that was in the ASE embassy, Liarg wouldn't mind too much.

The big one decorated with Egyptian hieroglyphs looks particularly threatening.
Actually who am I kidding. I'm European. I love cheese.

Wouldn't that depend somewhat on their age and how they were stored?
