Title: Elections? What? Already???
420_Celebrants - December 14, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
Dear NS Canadians,
The time has returned. Election season is upon us and happens to co-incide with the Winter season this time around. Here's hopes that the campaigning can be warmer than the outside temperatures.
The official start of campaigning will commence a week from today. Elections will commence a week later.
This last term has been successful and yet very very tumultuous at the same time. We started off with exuberance and then ran head first into a lovely wall that wasn't there before.
That wall is what we loathingly lovinglyrefer to around here as the "Invision-Doesn't-Care-About-Us" server crash wall.
And what a wall it was. It demoralized some of us and made one cabinet member not want to be here anymore. Then I smartened up and realized running away was such a sissy thing to do.
But despite the amazing amount of loss we suffered from the crash, Cabinet held their heads up high and made sure that Canada was well taken care of. Threads were locked in accordance to guidelines set out by the recovery team and new threads were created so that we wouldn't be totally lost adrift.
It was amazing to watch cabinet keep everything going and have a hand in rebuilding the forum to its usual glory.
As a bonus, we even got new emoticons!
The next Cabinet might find themselves with some big shoes to fill, but I have a feeling that anyone who runs will have it in them to fill whatever shoe they might find. We've got some amazing people here in Canada and I'm sure everyone will do the region proud.
So folks, keep a lookout for the Election forum next week and start thinking about running for office.
If you have any questions about being in Cabinet, please feel free to ask myself or anyone else in Cabinet.
Cheers!

Why 420, I will look forward to the elections, where I will aim to contribute towards the greatest region ever, Canada, and her weekly Cabinet meetings and biscuits/vending machine. I hope that many others from our region will choose to run for a position so they can contribute towards Canada as well, and to create a competitive election where we can all discuss the merriments of campaigning.
[/Stand for Elections everyone!]
So much for not naming anyone :P
And it was 15oc this morning, so hopefully the elections will be like a sauna, except less bare flesh or the absensce of the Swedish bikini team.
*Plays JT's calling card*

Bugger. I'll be in New Zealand and nowhere near a computer from the 22nd Dec- 5th January.
Are proxy votes allowed?

I'd like to encourage everyone who is giving thought to running for office to go ahead and do so.
I'd also like to say that the problems this forum has faced would have permanently paralyzed most regions. Even though nearly every single post had gone missing for a while, we've stuck together and are still here. There is something here that binds us together that goes beyond formal laws. I believe they call it friendship. We've got it by the boatloads. :)
Finally I'd like to say that I will not be running for re-election.
