Q: Okay I was using the NationStates off-site forums like you suggested and got totally lost. When I read the rules before signing up it specifically stated that there was no war, and yet I see people talking about Militaries, Dogs of War, Defence forces, Defence Ministers and I find myself thinking "I got a sinking suspicion I'm missing something here". If at all possible, could you perhaps fill me in a little?
A: There are two aspects to "war". First is the Role Play Aspect. There are a few nations who "pretend" to have militaries and conflicts.
The second aspect actually has a real element to this game. Some times, you'll get groups of UN nations who will "crash" a region, take control of it by getting delegate status, and then eject members of the previous government. That is why we have a Minister of Defence - to keep his/her eyes peeled for possible rogue groups of invaders who might try to cause problems.
I'm not concerned of being taken over, and quite frankly, if done democratically within the spirit of our constitution, I could care less. I am more concerned about groups that might use Canada as a hiding or staging ground for invasions of other regions, or who might infiltrate the region and try to destabilize it.
