Title: Regional Currencies
Description: Which region has them, for what, etc?
SensitiveMadScientists - February 17, 2006 07:36 PM (GMT)
There has been discussion in Canada of a regional currency and in my region, the 10000 Islands we have the Taco. I am wondering which regions have a mint or are planning one. I belive goods and services could be exhanged across borders, but we would need to determine an exchange rate. One of Canada's good citizens will design NationState flags, see TheSensitiveNewAge for an example. While in the 10000 Islands we holding the first ever art competition. Another example, the 10000 Islands and Canada had a joint soccer/football cup with a grand prize of 5000 Tacos.

Thats a good idea. I especially like the one about the regional currency. It will further unite the members of Canada.

Yeah i purposed that Canada adopt the loonie as their regional currency nobody has it as their national currency so it would be an unbais market.... lets just say no too many people were too keen on the idea. I purposed it to help create fair trade among all nations of the regoin Canada, but we forsake the little people in our dream of capitalistic persuit.... j/j

Indeed. The Defective Eight shall never be pushed from our hearts!

I'm opposed to this. It would be technically impossible considering that many NS calculators will attribute a different currency ratio to nations individually.

Well I get at what your saying. But I still think it would be kind neat.

I don't think this is what SMS is talking about. I think he's referring not to the currency on your nation's page, but rather that some regions pay "money" to forumees. Texas has a system where you get Texas Dollars for posts.

Hmm, this is a very goood idea, but what would we spend the money on, if i dare ask. :D

Dead on kana da, thank you.
As to what the regional currency has been used for so far, birthday gifts, sports prizes, lotteries, tips for services, and competions.
If Tweedy had an account on the 10KI regional forum or Canada had its own currency, I would have paid him for the flags he made for my base nation and 10KI forum avatar. NoFunNinja's photoshop services would be a good candidate for payment. Back in the Islands, I have created a lot of smashing titles for people and have recieved tips.
A salary system is being developed for university instructors, recuirters, Ministers, Senators, and other official jobs within the 10000 Islands.
If people have ideas, please use this thread for brainstorming.

The Nations of Texas have donated certain items to be purchased.
I have made some purchases with the money I've accured over there and currently own (among other things):

A freaking short bus!! Now I can take some of you select few "special" people on outings.

Hans and Frans cooked these up one day over in the Canadian Consulate and I couldn't get enough of them.

Yertie brand beer is easily the best beer I have ever tasted. I've also purchased a keg of this stuff as well as a few cases.
And to top it all off, I just purchased 3 acres of forest. Think I'll grow some insane root there.

Question: What do you in 10KI spend your money on?
SensitiveMadScientists - February 22, 2006 11:44 PM (GMT)
Not much of a sales economy yet. That's being worked on.

So the only point of accruing money is to say, "Na na na na na na, I have more than you do?"
SensitiveMadScientists - February 24, 2006 12:29 AM (GMT)
Currently, yes. Alas, it's a work in progress.

Update.
About the Liber, the 10000 Islands recently set up an embassy there. No word other than that.
