Title: Fantasy Baseball!!

420_Celebrants - February 5, 2006 06:29 PM (GMT)
I am stoked. I have been waiting patiently for this.

I made the liberty of making a league for us. Omni - if you wish to invite other regions, please feel free.

This will be hosted on Yahoo fantasy sports. I have made a league with 19 open spots (along with my team) and if you join now, I guarantee you that you can play later!

Go to Yahoo Fantasy Sports to sign up and then use the league ID# 38153. Password is canadaisuncrappy. (no period)

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Well done 420! :clapping:

Although the link you've provided is for a Golf fantasy league. :hide:

420_Celebrants - February 5, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
WATCB - make sure that you go to the free section and not the pay section. It is right below the yellow box near the top right. Arg - if I could make a screen cap, I would.

C6 - the link is to the fantasy sports area ... it keeps switching from the two current fantasy sports available - golf or baseball. If it happens to be golf when you click, just click on baseball and all will be groovy.

canada6 - February 6, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
You're right. I didn't bother to read the status bar last time.

Redundancies - February 6, 2006 01:21 PM (GMT)
Wow, they already started the signup for baseball? The season doesn't start for two months...

Redundancia is happy to field the Red Riders for the 2006 season, after finishing third in last year's league (details here).

I note that the league name is spelled "NS Basball Warriors". Commish, you should be able to fix the spelling under the commissioner tools...

Ess - February 6, 2006 08:26 PM (GMT)
Ess' Boys are registered! Thanks, 420. :)

canada6 - February 6, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)
I think this fantasy league is highly "marketable" in Equilism. We could have another joint league going on.

Ess - February 6, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
Let's do!

Durass - February 7, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
The Canadian Regional Champion Durass Daggers are entering.

420_Celebrants - February 8, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
I set the league for 20 teams. Bring your friends.

And spelllling misstkaes are highly overrarted.

Let's do!

But I don't know baseball and got my butt kicked last time

420_Celebrants - February 9, 2006 12:27 AM (GMT)
And??

You think that stopped me from entering a Fantasy Football league? All I know about that sport is that it is played on the weekend and it has a weird shaped ball that gets thrown and kicked around.

I somehow still won.

If I don't see your team created by the end of the week, I'm going to have to be forced to ... well ... wait longer.

I like not having to wait longer. :)

canada6 - February 9, 2006 07:47 PM (GMT)
420 as soon as you feel it's okay I'll be gald to start recruiting in Equilism.

420_Celebrants - February 9, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
Go fer it. I just extended an invitation to the Texas region ... although they have their own league set up, so I don't expect too many of them to register in ours.

Redundancies - February 13, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
A couple requests for our esteemed commissioner:

-Can we have more than one "DL" spot? I know from experience that some teams get hit with the injury bug and have to sit as many as several players at once--and with only one DL spot, that can severely shorten a bench. As I recall the maximum is five, which I would prefer.

-Can we use on-base percentage as a stat category instead of batting average? It's just a personal preference but I like it better as it tends to more accurately reflect the worth of a player. I know it's just fantasy, but...

420_Celebrants - February 13, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
I actually thought I threw in two DL spots ... I'll ammend that to three (3) ... just to split the uprights.

I have no problem with throwing in OB% ... had planned on it originally but wasn't sure if it would fly.

canada6 - February 13, 2006 11:33 PM (GMT)
A couple of players from Equilism have signed on.

"Neocons" and "Nooterland Nemesis".

I'm glad that OBP is on there. I agree with Red. OBP for batters and WHIP for pitchers are my favourite stats.

420_Celebrants - February 14, 2006 01:09 AM (GMT)
I was wondering who the Neocons were. Thanks for the heads up.

Just to let you guys know, the Texas League might have a few spots open and will be needing teams. I'll keep you up to date if anyone over here is interested in joining me in their league.

That should be enough. I know that one year I was commish for a league and had left the DL at the default of one--one of my friends berated me when half her team went on the real-life DL and she ran out of bench spots. I'm like, I can't do anything about it now...

True statheads know its value. Thanks!

Oh great, now I have to redo the secret formulae to get my winning team....

Err, .... I didn't say anything about secret formulae, I don't know what you're talking about...

inside voice, inside voice.....

420_Celebrants - February 14, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
BTW - I also have it set for 8 bench spots. So technically you can have 11 non-active players on your team.

420_Celebrants - February 17, 2006 11:43 PM (GMT)
The NS Texas League is looking for some more registrants to their baseball league.

Anyone interested? These guys are uber cool.

Durass - February 21, 2006 05:12 PM (GMT)
With our success in the Canadian league, Durass has decided to send a Navy team, the Durass Destroyers, to the Texas league.

420_Celebrants - March 5, 2006 08:23 PM (GMT)
League is drafted. Start trading me your good players now. Especially you Durass.

canada6 - March 5, 2006 11:50 PM (GMT)
Oh my. This took me by half surprise. I had fiddled with the draft-ranking a bit and it seems to have payed off. I could've gotten better starting pitchers allthough I'm hoping for a breakthrough season for Chacin.

Cloudnestian - March 6, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
Questions:

- I don't know how to see the league, so how can i see the league whitout logging on because i don't have a YM and i don't want to pay 20 bucks!
- Is there any place still?

420_Celebrants - March 6, 2006 05:14 AM (GMT)
This league has already been drafted, so there aren't any free spots left in this league.

Chances are, you were looking in the paid area rather than the free area. Yahoo isn't best known for promoting the free stuff all that well. It's such a tiny link it is almost like it was an afterthought.

If you wish to participate in a league still, I know the region of Texas is still looking for a team or two. They're league info is posted about four or five posts above.
