Title: Best 2005 UN Resolution
Description: A NationStates Survey

Hello,

First, I apologize if this is the wrong place for this post, however, for the past few years, your region has always been great about sending reports on your region's position on various UN resolutions and keeping in touch with other regions. Obviously your nations are active in the UN, so I wanted to point out a survey a few of us are conducting on Jolt's NS UN forum:

There will be *6* surveys spread through 3 rounds.

1. The first 4 surveys will divide resolutions up into the top ten resolutions (by percentage of votes in favour) per each quarter of 2005. You can vote for one resolution in each of these surveys. The top 2 resolutions per quarter will jump to the 3rd round (6th survey).

Here is the direct link to the first quarter survey:

Here is the direct link to the second quarter survey:
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=463747

Here is the direct link to the third quarter survey:
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=463757

Here is the direct link to the fourth quarter survey:
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=463763

2. The resolutions that didn't make those surveys are eligible for a 5th survey -- a "wild card" round. Each player can nominate up to 2 resolutions per quarter, which will then form 10 more resolutions to compete for 3rd round (6th survey).

3. This last survey is where we'll narrow it down to choosing our favorite UN resolution of 2005. :) The results of the 6 surveys will naturally be added to NSWiki, so the surveys will eventually end.

Sound like a lot of rules, but it really is much more straight forward ... just vote on what you like.

Thanks!

Thanks Mikitivity :).

I think that this is an excellent opportunity to maybe consider a benchmark for UN Proposals. It would be good if as many members of Canada (even if not a UN Member) voted in this as this is an area in which there is great potentital for a positive influence in the drafting of future UN Proposals.

You've read my mind.

It will also help the game moderators realize what we as players really enjoy, and in theory similar ideas should be promoted ... the game is supposed to be fun! :)

This is just a friendly reminder that the survey's are still active. Now that the NS Jolt forums are working better it should take only minutes to fill out! :fonz:

Absolutely. The forum seem to have had a steam iron run over the creases.

While it isn't necessary to take part, I still think that it would be a great opportunity to add Canada's influence to deciding the Best UN Resolution of 2005. Hopefully, if there is enogh support from like minded players, this can be a positive experience for the UN in both drafting and implementing UN Resolutions that are better written, and thought out.

[NOTE: This is the final round of surveys for 2005. Please cast your vote!]

Hello,

We’ve been conducting a series of polls on the NationStates Jolt forums to determine the Best Resolution of 2005. The final poll has been posted:

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=472509

Please go and vote for your favorite 2005 resolution. The more votes we have, the more meaningful the results of the survey will be.

Text and discussions about each of the 10 resolutions that made it to this final around can be found on NSWiki:

*Diplomatic Immunity
*United Nations Security Act
*The Sex Industry Worker Act
*Natural Disaster Act
*Repeal “Promotion of Solar Panels”
*The Microcredit Bazaar
*Tsunami Warning System
*Repeal Save the Forests of the World
*Nuclear Armaments
*UNCoESB

Thank you,
Janet Van Dyne
