Title: GB&I wishes to create diplomatic ties with Canada

Now that I have introduced myself (and have received a warm welcome), it is time for the formalities of Diplomacy.

So, I am here to represent the Government of my region, Great Britain and Ireland, and express its will to establish relations with Canada.

GB&I has always been interested in getting in touch with other regions in the NS world. It is a fact that good diplomatic relations are a key point for the advance of any region in NS.

Having stated GB&I's intention, I will try, through a wide description of GB&I, to make a reference to all the standards you have set for diplomatic relations.

GB&I is a democratic region, with a political system similar to that of the United Kingdom in RL. We have distinct powers for the legislative, judicial and executive arms of government. The legislative body of GB&I is its Parliament, which consists of two Houses, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Cabinet is holds the executive power. Finally, for the judiciary, there are two degrees of jurisdiction, with the High Court being the first and the Appeals Division of the House of Lords being the second.

Our founder and admin is our Monarch, who is almost only a ceremonial role.

The Members of the House of Commons (MPs) are elected by democratic elections, were all the GB&I citizens have the right to vote. Although the House of Lords consists of appointed by the Monarch Lords, the Lords have very little power and all their decisions can be overriden by the House of Commons. So, the Parliament is an entirely democratic body.

The MP that controls a majority in the House of Commons becomes the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister appoints the Ministers and, all of them, are the Cabinet. The Cabinet is under the control of the Parliament, since there can always be a vote of no confidence.

Finally, the Ministers can delegate the powers that they are granted to appointed officials.

So, as you can see, our entire system respects the values of Democracy.

All the GB&I citizens have the right to vote. Every nation that is present in GB&I can become a citizen, simply by posting an application in our offsite forum. Everyone is allowed to register in our offsite forum and access the threads in it. Therefore, the right to vote is open to everyone that is a resident of GB&I.

We pride ourselves for our extensive and sophisticated legal system. Our laws are all in the Statute Book. It can be found here.

The freedom of speech is self-evident in GB&I, as long as statements of people do not infringe other people's rights. For this reason, there are regulations included in our Statute Book, considering the conduct of regional members in both our RMB and regional forum.

I hope that the above facts are enough to prove that GB&I fits and commends all the standards set by Canada, considering regions that wish to develop diplomatic relations with Canada. For more information, you can look either in the Statute Book or in our NSWiki Entry,

If you have any further questions, I would be more than pleased to answer them.

So, what should we expect?

You should expect me to register over your boards over the weekend, and I will look to see how your region meets the Standards for Diplomatic Relations. I may ask a few questions about points that seem unclear to me. Then, I'll take the information to cabinet, who will make their own decisions about whether to open an embassy or not.

OK then, thank you very much! I am looking forward to your visiting our forum :) .

Indeed, I welcome the furthering of diplomatic relationships with Canada, and after viewing your Standards for Diplomatic Relations, I think you will find GB&I more than satisfactory.
