Title: Omnivorous for MoDB
Omnivorous - December 21, 2005 11:40 AM (GMT)
Well, seeing as I vaguely remember being the deputy minister during the previous term, I suppose I should run for the official position...
I am hoping that I will be able to contribute more to the region via the MoDB by instating a fun, regular pattern of viewing specimens of beer and doughnuts (This could be tricky seeing as I am a citizen of The British Empire's base of England and therefore can't remember much of Canada when I was a child - I am not sure that beer was on my mind as a 5 year old...) and I would also review some foreign English Bitter and Irish Poteen - which can reach 80% volume! - at my own expense.
In support of NFN, I also believe that a glossary (to be more precise than just a vocabulary, which is a list of spellings) of Canada-related words such as GARPA, just exactly what Insane Root is, to what plant family it belongs and how much it costs per pound (Imperial measure all the way!) and etc.
If you vote for me as the new Minister of Doughnuts and Beer, I will try my utmost best to preserve some kind of culture here and there as well as mix stories around a campfire eating roasted marshmallows and doughnuts (I'll visit my local Krispy Kreme's for a preview of a series of pre-election reviews some time next week).
And about that swearing thing, I don't like people who find it necessary to profane to get their point out and I don't have any other nations, not even a puppet!, so no positions in other regions.

That's very good of you, Omni! :P

Thank you for running Omnivorous.
NoFunNinjas - December 21, 2005 09:31 PM (GMT)
isnt the whole point of not telling what insane root is to mess with the noobs? wouldnt defining it sort of ruin the fun?
Omnivorous - December 21, 2005 09:33 PM (GMT)
Well that is exactly what I thought when a mob of Canadians surrounded poor old little me. I suppose we could leave that one out as we all know vaguely what it is, right?
Ess - I have done it before and nobody will stop me from doing it again, I guess I am a serial offender in that category. Poteen and me go together like bed time and putting pyjamas on lions - rather well if they are sedated/drunk at the first attempt...
Now where is my Easter Egg for 300 posts? Is there one?
NoFunNinjas - December 21, 2005 10:12 PM (GMT)
what is your favorite beer omnivorous?
Omnivorous - December 21, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
The beer I drink most of the time is Shepherd's Neame, one of the oldest brewers in England and sponsors of my favourite Cricket team. I don't actually like beer too often (not as it makes me drunk of course) but I prefer alcohols such as Whisky and Bourbon.
Ask me for more info when I'm sober.
NoFunNinjas - December 22, 2005 12:55 AM (GMT)
i like some hard alcohols but i find most of them a bit too strong.

Do you see the need at all to make the MoDB portfolio more viable for the Regional NS page? How would you impliment any ideas you have for your campaign there?
Do you feel there is more to this job than just Doughnuts and Beer?
Do you prefer the spelling of "Donuts" or "Doughnuts"?
While this is, to me, one of the easier portfolio's due to its level of fun and laid-backed-ness, it will still elevate you to a Cabinet position. I am curious to know what large scale issues you would like to see the Cabinet that you will be a part of, if you win, tackle this term. Also, why do you believe these are the top issues that need to be dealt with?
Thank you very much in advance for answering these questions.

Or popcorn and beer?
Sorry, that would have been topical humour a week ago.
Jack_Tarr - December 22, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
Could we toss in some pretzels and cracker jacks?
Bamada - December 22, 2005 08:09 PM (GMT)

NoFunNinjas - December 23, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)

i like them when i was little.
Bamada - December 23, 2005 04:53 AM (GMT)
Oh hell yes they still make them! Oh I wish more came in a pack
HOW TO EAT A GUSHER By Bamada
1. open the package. You will have to tear pretty hard because they're enclosed in that thick paper where it's still a little sticky after you rip it.
2. get one gusher. To do this you have to peel it off of the other ones because they stick together in one huge lump of amazing.
3. Put it in your mouth and bite into it. Allow the Gush of fruit flavors to invade your mouth. Scream yes, yes yes! (like in the herbal essences commercial) but don't open your mouth too wide because the people around you probably dont like see-food as much as you do.
4. continue chewing and swallow. allow the juices to caress your throat with flavor.
5. rinse with water and repeat until package is empty. If you hjave an unlimited supply of gushers, eat another pack! but if you're limited, wait until tomorrow because you have to make this box last until mommy goes back to the store.

May I ask first - does Canada have an official NSwiki page? I stumbled across it on Google yesterday. *Goes and has a look, ah! There is one -
http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Canada*
I'll get back on the actual question, I have to check some things out.

Well I plan to survey various alcohols as well; it depends how well my nearest off-licence accepts my ID card. And to hopefully win something in my life! I might also try to promote the regional parties as another way of talking a lot and arguing (one of my specialities) but I don't even know what party I am most suited to. I might create my own - the "Legalise Cannabis Alliance" would be my first stab, but there already is a party by that name over here...

Doughnuts all the way. The proper spelling is always the better spelling in my book. And doo-nuts isn't exactly pronounced right...

I feel that the level of activity amongst newer members of the region is something to be dealt with, as not many actually progress past a couple of weeks in the region/on the forum before feeling outnumbered and outposted - Kana da's 50-odd posts a day might have something to do with it. I felt exactly the same way when I first joined, seeing people with well over 5,000 posts (even ambassadors with high post counts) who had been here for two years; this can be a daunting thing as I first thought that there would be an elite group of supermembers who controlled everything. Now I know that JT and Parrrrtay just spam the place (although from the state of this thread it is not limited to just them!) and suggest evil adult things everywhere, I feel more at home.
I would also like to help newer members get settled and into a rhythm of sailor talk and flirting, one of the things would be the glossary of certain words (except you've all decided not to put Insane Root in just for fun!) as well as maybe an area exclusive to the newer members where they can talk and a selected few members could help them cope.
Remember: if there are no new members, there are no members who will apply for the Cabinet when everyone else gets old or doesn't have the time to do an effective job. And new blood tends to get things kick-started in times of need.
Omnivorous - December 23, 2005 03:59 PM (GMT)
After reading through the spam, I have decided that I would also make a completely OOC discussion about food and that stuff we eat, not just Doughnuts but biscuits, pizza, crisps, insane root, boiled sweets, peppermints and all other things that make us not hungry and we should have topical polls in which we decide the region's favourite food stuffs in certain categories, such as doughnut type (jam filling, chocolate glaze, hundreds and thousands).
Jack_Tarr - December 23, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
Ahhhhhhh! FOOD! Now you have my attention. :)
Omnivorous - December 23, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
I was planning on doing one as a preview (those reviews are still in my mouth - I can't get the sugar from the doughnuts off of my keyboard) so I think I will kick that off now.
What is your favourite chocolate bar? Name any bar (generic names are OK, Hersheys falls into one category, I don't want Cherry flavours and Orange flavoured chocolate or ones with 5% less fat etc. - just the name of the chocolate).
I doubt that everybody will have even heard of each other's choices as we all live so far apart in the world, but this is just a test.
My favourite chocolate bar is Aero 'that bubbly squeak' of a bar.

I must say that papery chocolate is not my favourite, but I will see if my local chocolate shop sells it.
