Title: Grey Cup

Is it just me, or has no one discussed the Grey Cup this year?

Just so that the Canadian character of this place is further entrenched, I'll just say that the game had an outstanding finish, that I'm pleased that Edmonton won, and that Chris Walby's designation of Montreal being 3rd and 31 yards to go being "3rd and a country mile" was the best thing I've heard a sportscaster say in a long time.

Oh yeah. Anthony Calvillo catching his own pass was awesome. His decision to throw forward a second time on the same play wasn't.

I've heard the "country mile" designation used before in American games in similar situations.

This actually reminds me of a game recently where the announcer said it was "third and forever", when it was I believe about 25-30 yards for a first down. The team ended up converting it by a healthy margin and I remarked to my friends, "Wow, he threw that ball forever plus five yards!"

Well, as an eskimos fan, I can honestly say, that was one of the greatest games i've ever seen. I thought about making a thread to boast about how great the eskimos are, how they've overcome all odds in just being in the game, and how this will turn out to be the start of a dynasty in which the eskimos could win another five in a row. However, I did not want to come across as another arrogant eskimos fan, so i've said nothing on this forum.

In any case, frankly, I cannot stand watching football games on CBC anymore. I hate chris walby! Why? Because frankly to him, the offensive line means everything. For example, a few years back, in Pringle's first season in Edmonton I believe, I remember this excellent run by Mike Pringle. Basically what happened was that the run blockers basically got beat by their defensive counterparts. Pringle ended gaining about seven yards just by himself. However, when the replays started, Walby started talking about so offensive lineman doing, "just enough" to allow pringle to get a few extra yards. Now, as a former offensive lineman, yes, I do think that lineman don't get the credit they deserve but, on the other hand, sometimes a runningback just does it on his own.

And another thing with Walby.... why does he always talk about the running game? Every single time I try to watch a game with him doing the colour, he always has to bring up the running game and how at least one of the teams playing, if not both, have to run the ball more. Like, this is the CFL, this game is built for the passing game, not the run game. Sure, running the ball is important, but on the other hand, if you can't pass, you can't win the CFL.

I hate Chris Walby!
