Description: Oct. 2005

Diplomatic Relations Between The North Pacific and Canada

Preamble:

Recognizing The North Pacific government as the legitimate governing body of The North Pacific and the Cabinet of Canada as the legitimate governing body of Canada. We the regions of Canada and The North Pacific, in an effort to have fun and encourage inter-regional co-operation, do agree to the following:

1. Each region remains sovereign, and independent, as do each region's member nations.

2. Diplomatic relations do not create nor imply a military or political alliance.

3. Each region will place and maintain an embassy in the region of the other, in order to further communication between the two regions. The embassy will act as the official voice for each region within the other, and will respect the laws of foreign soil.

4. Each region will supply an ambassador to post occasional reports, on activities of their home region, in the appropriate thread.

5. Each region will encourage nations, that have an interest, to register and participate on the other's forum, so that both regions can get to know each other and so our friendship may be strengthened. Additionally, members of each region shall have an automatic invitation to participate in all festive occasions in either region.

6. Each region agrees to co-operate in promoting and passing quality UN resolutions when they are of mutual benefit.

7. Each region agrees to encourage and exhibit democratic principles.

8. These diplomatic relations are between The North Pacific and Canada only and do not affect any current or future treaties for either region.

9. Diplomatic relations may be reviewed and terminated by the governing bodies of either region should any of the terms of these guidelines not be upheld.

10. Any amendment of this document requires the mutual agreement of both regions before taking effect.

Isn't this sort of happening already?

hudson bay - November 2, 2005 08:40 PM (GMT)
You are correct. TNP wanted to have the relationship documented. As a general rule Canada does not enter into binding obligations. Since the bulk of what TNP wanted we were doing any way we didn't see a problem with simply documenting what was meant by diplomatic relations.

I would like to suggest that this thread be pinned.

Bamada - November 2, 2005 10:51 PM (GMT)
I see. Thank you.

hudson bay - November 2, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
BTW for item #7 - what Canada means when we say democratic principals is found here.

JG - I think it would be a good idea to pin this thread - since it contains a formal document.

Judith Gap - November 22, 2005 11:18 PM (GMT)
I do not have the power to admin any of the embassies, even though I have admin power in the Diplomacy forum. I cannot pin anything in an embassy.

hudson bay - November 23, 2005 12:24 AM (GMT)
okay - sorry I thought you did. Carb, Chex or whom every is MoRA today could you please pin this please, pretty please...

420_Celebrants - November 23, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
I'd have figured someone on cabinet with me might actually know who the MoRA is ... but hell ... what do I know 'eh?

You're welcome I guess.

Though I am not with the Diplomatic Corps of The North Pacific, I feel being Minister of Defence there does justify my reasonings of wanting to share a glass or two of local drinks with you guys. My apologies for the quietness of my region, however due to the forum move, and now the elections finally come and gone, we have been concentrating on those events. However, I feel that TNP and Canada will be able to share a long lasting friendship.

Recent Events

  • Elections are almost over.  The Prime Minister and Minister of External Affairs must go through a run off election, since neither candidate recieved a 50%+1 majority of votes.  For Prime Minister, the two candidates in the run off are Flemingovia and Poltsamaa.  For the Minister of External Affairs position, the candidates are Haor Chall and Koona.  Namyeknom, the candidate for Minister of Culture and Education, had to unfortunately leave NS and TNP for the time being due to RL issues, so the next Prime Minister will appoint a nation for that spot.

  • Bank of The North Pacific, and new type of gameplay on the forum where nations recieve TNP dollars for each post they make, and these dollars can then be traded among players in the region for items ranging from flag designs to puppet nations.  Though still in "Beta" testing, this system has a lot of potential.

  • TNP's Campaign Against Spam continues, as nations are warned for ads in the regional messageboard that exceed 15 lines.  Nations warned three times will be subject to a ban from the region.  This is just part of an effort to reclaim TNP's regional message board.

  • The Superbowl in the United States came to TNP as nations discussed who they were supporting in the big game.  Tresville and Erastide had a bet going.  If the Steelers won, Tresville would be named "Founder" of the region in the WFE for a week.  If the Seahawks won, Tresville would have to have an invader flag for a week.  Also, Tresville and Hersfold bet that if the Steelers won, Tresville's avatar would be the forum banner for awhile, but if the Seahawks won Tresville would have an "I Love Invaders" signature.  Needless to say, Tresville won both and became founder of the region and had his avatar in the banner of the forum.

Regional Assembly Discussions

  • RA Merger/Repeal - Should the registered voters and the regional assembly be combined, with one of the two being repealed?  Are they both really needed?  Now in the formal discussion phase, proposed by Hersfold.

  • Delegate Security Act - A nation exceeds the endorsments of the Vice-Delegate.  Twenty-four hours pass and the Security Council does not act.  Should the delegate have the right to eject that person for regional security?

  • Term Limits - Resuming the discussion of reforming the limititations for terms held by cabinet members after the last bill was defeated.

  • Statute of Limitation - Should deadlines be set for filing civil or criminal claims?

Popular OOC Threads

  • Where Am I? - Greece?  Monoco?  Thimphu???  Guess here and travel the world!

  • Cybernations - TNP members get involved with the popular new online game that is similar to Nationstates.

  • Who Will Post Next? - A classic game of spam on its fourth round here at the new forum.

  • Deal or No Deal - A game run by Puckton based on the popular television series.

This regional update brought to you by Ator  People, TNP's Minister of Communications.

Btw, its great to be here again! Also, feel free to move this update if you want :)

Haor Chall - April 25, 2007 09:45 AM (GMT)

Apologies for not posting sooner, TNP and Canada have a long friendship and we would not want to lose it. I did believe that I had an ambassador here, I shall berate them when I get back. :garpa:
