Title: Projects
hudson bay - October 12, 2005 04:24 PM (GMT)
In an effort to keep good ideas from dropping through the cracks and as a tool to prioritizing tasks for the MoJ I've decided to maintain the following list. For starters I've listed the projects I outlined in my campaign kick off. I'll add items as they come up or as I discover them on older threads.
Referenda:
HoC Review:
Cabinet Roll Call Vote:
Draft Text:
Review Defence Alert Status
In Debate:
Minister impeachment
Work out a process to fairly handle reviews of cabinet punishments
Department of Immigration
Back Log Docket:
I would also like to build on the work the region has done to further inter-regional efforts in NS. Part of that I think is to find a way to get more resources for the MoFA. I don't have a clear plan along these lines but I think that a more formal recruiting effort focused on inter-regional activities will be a key part of the solution.
Also the idea of using term limits to get fresh people into the govenment is worth talking about. Although a limit of one term is too short IMO.

HB, I am in total agreement with you here. It must take at least a full term just to learn the ropes.

In some areas, such as MoD, stability supplied by mutliple terms I would think would be desirable.

It's good to hear that people outside the cabinet have an appreciation for that. 'Cause I was suprised how long it took me to get a handle on how to get things accomplished. I'm not sure I got much of anything done in my first term.
My hope is that putting in a process for holding cabinet roll call votes (which was done toward the end of my second term) should greatly aid reaching consensus and thus speed up the process of moving projects forward.

I'd agree on this point and even say it would be desirable not to impose term limits on any cabinet member.
Basically, because this is a society with relatively few fully active members (judging from election times, 25 to 35) and a high number of elected positions (6), imposing term limits could limit the number of viable candidates for a position. And if, for example, a trustworthy individual such as Carb had his limit reached and couldn't run, and a couple of dubious n00bs came in and ran, that could compromise the security of the region.

I do not like the idea of term limits. If you have someone with experience who is willing to do the job, why limit them? this could be a security risk. If they are not doing their job, the citizens should recognize this and eliminate them without the need for term limits.....

That's cool - I wasn't really meaning for this thread to be a place of debate (we should use the HoC for that). Just what to keep the region up to speed on the cabinet's to do list. ^first post in thread
