Title: Judith Gap for MoFA
Description: accepting the nomination
Judith Gap - September 22, 2005 12:49 PM (GMT)
I would like to announce my candidacy for Minister of Foreign Affairs during the next term.
Goals[1] We've just gone through a period of growth in terms of contacting new regions and establishing new embassies. I think that now is the time to improve the existing relationships that we have.
[2] Seek out democratic regions with which we could establish important social and strategic relationships. (Wysteria, Hyrule, International Democratic Union, and Europe are a few examples)
[3] Establish and participate in more inter-regional conferences.
[4] Make Canada's name a stronger presence in the NS forums.
[5] Provide the region, if it is interested, in a digest of what is going on in regions with whom we are not in a formal diplomatic relationship
To succeed at goal one means to gain stronger support from the region. To succeed at goals 1-5 means to have stronger support in weekly tasks like generating the Ambassador's report and making sure it is posted in other regions.
I was reluctant to run for MoFA again because the work load is too heavy for me to do alone, which means I may ask many of you for special favors.
ExperienceOne term as MoFA during which we opened embassies with Q102, Texas, and reopened an embassy in The North Pacific. We closed the embassy to China. I helped to initiate and participated in a conference on protocols for ambassadors. I was in contact with 10 other regions with whom we are only likely to talk to occassionally. Apart from those items, I was in constant communication with Carb, a most excellent Minister of Defense about instability in various regions. I've written a number of the reports for Ambassadors and have filled in for all ambassadors during periods of absence. I think I've appointed 5-6 new ambassadors during my term.
Beyond my ministry, I have participated in vigorous cabinet discussions on recall, warning policies, various constitutional amendments, and troubling board use violations. I've put together a cabinet report and have frequently posted in the House of Commons to let the region know about major discussions in cabiet and have attempted to engage the region in discussion of those debates.
But most importantly, I have a love of the region and a desire to share that love with regions outside Canada.

How do you propose to do (4)?
Do you think that (5) could be a joint project of several regions, to split up the workload? Like a multination-produced foriegn affairs journal?
Lastly: YAY.

I propose to accomplish #4 by participating in the NS forums (Jolt) more.
#5 could be a multiregional project, which would help in fulfilling goal number 1.
btw - I was looking at my last set of campaign goals and was amazed at how closely I achieved what I set out to achieve.

Just you, or do you think that there should be an official set of people responsible for posting and spreading the banner of Canada there?
And do you mean just general posting there, or have some specific objectives?

At this point, I'd like our name to be more visible. I haven't really thought about that aspect much yet. I think we should have specific representatives from the region on Jolt who we know are safeguarding the image of Canada.
If I had specific ideas on things I wanted to accomplish in the game, in regards to foreign affairs (not realms other than the office which I would represent), it would be specific posting. For now, it is a "be seen" approach.

First I think you've done a super job as MoFA.
I'm not sure what I think of the idea of upping our profile on NS forums. First thing that enters my mind is that a lot of the more organized invaders spend a lot of time on those boards. The second thing, while I have meet some nice people on those boards the vast majority I'm not sure I'd want to have in Canada. But give it a try and see how it goes.
Also to lighten the work load I would suggest publishing the embassy report bi-monthly rather than every week. It's cool that you are doing it so often but I can see that it's a fair amount of work.
