Title: Radio show
Description: Starring - us!

Ess - August 24, 2005 05:37 PM (GMT)
A few of us were in chat and got to discussing the possibility of doing some kind of radio show, movie or series. All anyone would need is a mic for their comp.
It will involve anyone who wants to be involved.

This thread is for ideas on what we could do and how we could do it.

If you are at all interested, please join NS Canada's chat @ 6pm Vancouver time/9 pm Toronto time and we will discuss it there, too!

Thanks!

Ess :)

Ok.....I am in.
Can I have my own dressing room with a big star on the door?

Ess - August 24, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
But, of course!

*hands Shay some yellow construction paper and scissors*

When you're done, just hang it on your bedroom door! :D

Jack_Tarr - August 24, 2005 06:12 PM (GMT)
I'm in.

Can we do something like "Days of Our Forum"?

Ess - August 24, 2005 06:15 PM (GMT)
I should mention that JT, JG and myself were the ones in chat when this came up.

"Days of Our Forum" sounds good! :P

Jack_Tarr - August 24, 2005 06:23 PM (GMT)
Can I be the DOM that everyone falls for?

 I thought most people *ran* from the Dirty Old Man! :ph43r:

:P

Jack_Tarr - August 24, 2005 06:41 PM (GMT)
That's just a stereotype!! We should do this show in monaural instead of stereo.

Or, I could have a magic charm ;)

Oh, then is this going to be a fairy tale? ;)

Jack_Tarr - August 24, 2005 06:46 PM (GMT)
I'll do whatever it takes with whoever it takes for as long as it takes!

And besides.......you're an actress right?

Why of course Darrrrling, do you doubt my talents?

420_Celebrants - August 24, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
I have the perfect face for radio. I am in.

But I can't get into the chat ... any other way I can converse?

Oilers Fans - August 24, 2005 11:25 PM (GMT)
Would this be a music type radio station, or a talk type station?

We are doing a radio show of some sort - not a station, per se. We are doing an audio show 'cause video would be too labour intensive as well as too large and not all have webcams, etc., etc.

Understandevous?

:P

Oilers Fans - August 24, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
Not quite. I'm thinking of something like the Radio KoL shoutcast station. You can have people sign up for shifts, everybody gets their own radio show and such.

Ess - August 24, 2005 11:44 PM (GMT)
Think of something like the old radio serials.

Probably a one-time thing. It might be a short movie or a soap-opera type thing, etc. :)

Oilers Fans - August 24, 2005 11:54 PM (GMT)
Ah. Now I understand.

Good! Now I won't have to slap ya! :P

Parrrrtay - August 25, 2005 12:00 AM (GMT)
Can I be the woman everyone just loves to hate?

Ess - August 25, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
Reminder - chat in 20 minutes!

Parrrrtay - August 25, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
UGGGHHHH you know that's past my bedtime!

Ess - August 25, 2005 12:41 AM (GMT)
Sorry! :( We'll discuss it for you!

This thread is to capture all ideas, anyways. No worries! :)

Ess - August 25, 2005 01:07 AM (GMT)
JT! Get your butt into chat right now, mister! You wanted the meeting so damn bad and then are late?? I don't think so!

K? :D

Jack_Tarr - August 25, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
oooooooooooooooops

Ess - August 25, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
Well, JT did end up coming to the meeting! :D

JT, Al, JG, BCC and myself had a pretty good discussion and ended up with the idea of a variety show! ^_^

We thought everyone could pick a talent such as singing, telling bad jokes, readings of poetry and such, doing impressions or playing an instrument.

If anyone has any other ideas, please feel free to add them to this thread! :)

The thought was that MP3 was a good format, unless someone has a better idea. We don't want the file size to be too big, though.

You'd need a mic and a program to make your files into a MP3 file - or what ever would work best.
Anyone know of a good program for that?

For hosting, we could use any number of free file hosting sites. There are a few on this site: free file hosting

Please feel free to add to this in any way you can think of. The more input, the better!

420_Celebrants - August 25, 2005 02:45 AM (GMT)
Anyone in the Toronto area that has ever watched City TV will understand this when I say that I sound EXACTLY like Mark Dailey.

I can totally do all the cut scenes or whatever really.

Ohhhh ... even better ... get me yapping after smoking some ... uhhhhh ... insane root. Yeah ... that's the one. The real life version of the stuff at least. I will have each and every one of you laughing your asses off.

Otherwise, for Christmas, I'll have to send you a sense of humour. And don't think of that as a crappy gift - you don't understand how much those go for on the black market.

Ess - August 25, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
*starts singing - "doobie doobie do..."* :P

I am just wondering if we have to change the file format to MP3 if we can host all files on a free hosting site? We'd just need the format to be something popular that most everyone had a program to hear, non?

Someone who knows this stuff - please chime in, thanks! :D

I'm from the Toronto area.....but I have no idea who Mark Dailey is, or what he sounds like

I'd join in, but my mic is broken.....has been for awhile. I'm not sure what's wrong with it. (I have two mics, and both don't work....)

*refreshes Chex's memory*

"Tonight on City TV we have Poison Ivy 2 with Alyssa Milano. A coming of age tale from an actress we all watched ... uh ... come of age on Who's The Boss. A great movie that should keep you entertained in the least.

City TV ... everywhere."

Basically, if you've ever watched a movie on City TV, Mark Dailey is the guy that intros them ... and he is also on the City TV news.

Carbanousa - August 25, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
Sounds like fun. Give me a shout when the times right :D.

I'm afraid that just won't do! Now, you get your little butt on down to the nearest electronics store and get a new mic! They can't be that expensive...

There is no way we can have a Canadian region talent show and not have our beloved PM involved!

Thank you for your cooperation! :D

See, the thing is, I'm thinking that it may be the computer...not the mic. How could I have possibly broken both of them?

Beaver-Country-Canada - August 25, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
FYI; I got meself a voice recorder that plugs into my computer today -- for school, but I realized it serves a dual purpose cause I can record into it and then put it on my PC.

I've got my way of recording -- what's yours? :)

Emus in denial - August 25, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
As far as audio recording and editing goes might I reccommend Audacity. It's fairly powerful featurewise and though there are easier programs out there, but none of them are as cheap (free).

Beaver-Country-Canada - August 25, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
I think I used it before, to split up a recording on a computer and write it to a CD. I found it very hard to use back then, but it would probably be OK now. That was about 2 years ago, I guess. It would be interesting to work with, for sure.

I'm still having fun with my recorder though :P

Calling all computer geeks! Any ideas?

Almonaster - August 25, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
It would be very unlikely that both went at the same time. The standard test is to get access to another computer+mic combination that you know works. You then check your mic with the other computer, and your computer with the other mic.

Beaver-Country-Canada - August 26, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
How old were they? My old mic didn't mix with my new comp, so we had to trash it.

PS: Still playing with my recorder ;)

One came with the computer, and the other is newer than the computer....

Check the wires maybe? If they're loose it might not work...
