Updates! What's Hot In Quasifunland 102

Sad News
Earlier this week our Founder, Schotze, decided to take a short break from the game. He will still be around, saying howdy and whatnot, but will no longer be active in an official role.

Numbers
We are currently quite settled at just above 150 nations; recruitment has been quieter recently but this is more due to the summer die-off season rather than a lack of motivation from our recruiters.

UN
Freedom Of Conscience voting as follows....

YESterday, all my troubles seemed so far away [6]
No, no, never! No, never, no more! [5]
I believe I can fly. I believe I can touch the sky. [1]

As you can see, we're doing anything to make this voting more fun...

Government
With the temporary departure of our Senator leaving us a bit stuck, we are currenly voting on whether to alter our Government system. The more democratic alternative is a Council, where members elect a First Councilman Delegate who then appoints the Council of Q102 to run the region. Each Councillor is responsible for running a Ministry. We will update you on the status of this change in the near future.
In other Government news, Anime Fandom x was recently appointed Deputy Security Minister, a role which he is performing brilliantly.

Foreign Affairs
We have opened a new embassy this week, in the region of Canada, after short talks between the Foreign Ministers of Canada and Q102. We are also looking at the possibility of alliances with well-established embassies.
We are also hoping to to host an inter-regional conference with Canada on the role and etiquette of Ambassadors  Interested people should contact Nevareion(Q102) or Judith Gap(Canada).

Security
The nations of Gyraphrodite and EvilSlaveKeepers were ejected after UN rule violations and use of offensive language on the forum chatrooms. Hopefully this will serve as a warning to other nations!

General
The People's Republic Of Loafa has begun organising the Loafstock Festival, to be held later in the year, in which the musical sensations of each nation perform to adoring crowds for the sheer fun of it. Star turns include Farq-Orf, Gitaru Apes, Khatziyannis, Parliament, Pink Crazed Idol Minds, Rock Like A Sissy Girl and The Holy Idiots.
Nevareion has also given a new surge of life to our Sporting calendar with the introduction of the Q102 American Football Champions League. Many nations have signed up to play, although as yet most don't really know the rules... However, the games will hopefully be a success - we'll let you know!!!

Regional Anthem
After discussions revealed an appalling lack of a regional anthem, the nations of Q102 rallied together to thought-shower some ideas. At the moment, the contenders are:
-Italian National Anthem (1 vote)
-Bulgarian National Anthem (1 vote)
-Russian National Anthem (2 votes)
-Trinidad and Tobago Anthem (4 votes)

plus an imaginative song by Pacifist_Cowards and a short burst of TV song contributed by Haken.

they're not all as long as this........ ^_^

However, that was quite amusing and very informative, PTA ;) Thanks for the update :)

Updates!

Good News
One of our previous nations, Leinstermunster, has made a return to our shores, under the new pseudonym of A Few Good Men. This is excellent news as we were all sad to see him leave, and are overjoyed to see him back among us!

UN
The Mitigation of Large Reservoirs resolution was voted AGAINST by our Delegate, with 5 votes to 4. The current resolution, the MicroCredit Bazaar, is as stands:
Ya! I agree wiv dis van!! [ 0 ]
Narn! I aint likininin it!!  [ 2 ]
Who?!                          [ 2 ]

We're still not impressed with the resolutions, but at least more people are voting on them, which is good.

Government
We have voted on, and agreed to, the implementation of the new constitution which creates a Council of Q102, led by the First Councilman Delegate. This change in policy is effective immediately. As yet there have been no changes to council members, although a new Ministry of Immigration and Officials has been created to oversee Ambassadors and Recruitment.

Delegate Elections
With the change in government policy complete, we are holding elections for a new Delegate. Currently the candidates are:
Nevareion
Pacifist Cowards
Muppets0
A Few Good Men

The campaign period will begin on Friday 12th August GMT and will end on Friday 19th August. There will then be 5 days for voting, with results being announced on Thursday 25th August. We'll let you know how it goes....

Foreign Ministry
Bagpipia has been appointed the Deputy for Foreign Affairs, making her a Minister under our new policy. We know she will do an excellent job, and hope you all join us in congratulating her on her promotion. smile.gif

Interregional Conference on Ambassadors
The conference hall of Q102 has been opened to Foreign Ministers world-wide, with the welcoming party in full swing. As discussing have not yet begun, there is still time for Foreign Ministers of inerested regions to register on the forums and have their say. Please inform forum moderators on your arrival, so that you may be granted posting rights in the conference topic.

General
The football championships are getting underway, with 9 nations currently having teams. The actual games will not start for a few weeks, though, while nations prepare and the stadiums are brought up to standard.

Hope you all enjoy this wonderful information :fonz:

Good News!
Calm Minds, another of our older nations who took a reasonable break, has returned to us! He is still not back in any official role, but we are mighty glad to see him again! Three cheers for Calm Minds!!

Numbers
Our numbers have been rising this week, with a high of 165. We are currently at 161, but a surge in recruiting by several people has really made a difference!

UN
The Microcredit Bazaar was voted AGAINST by our Delegate, Peachydom, and the Transgender Equality Act was an ABSTAIN as most people were neither against nor in favour of the proposal. The new resolution has yet to be voted on. Or even read.

Delegate Elections
The election is now down to 3 candidates, as Muppets0 resigned from the race. Our current Delegate, Peachydom, is not running, and we shall miss his unique style as delegate as he returns to being a private citizen of the region.
Campaigns have now ended, with official voting beginning today. The polls will be open to all citizens for five days, after which time the votes will be counted and the results announced on Thursday the 25th of August. Who will win? No one knows.....

Foreign Ministry
We have opened a new embassy with The Proletariat Coalition and are awaiting the outcome of our elections before reviewing a proposed consulate in The Black Land and the possibility of joining the EAA.

Interregional Conference on Ambassadors
This is still ongoing, and ambassadors/Foreign Ministers (or equivalent) are still more than welcome to stop by and have their say. Currently being discussed are the Behaviour and Activities of Ambassadors, and their Reports. The Conference Party is pretty fun, too! Please inform forum moderators on your arrival, so that you may be granted posting rights in the conference topic.

General
OOC: Exam results have been a hot topic this week, with many nations receiving theirs. As far as we can tell, most people are reasonably happy.
We have been rating films we have recently seen, with the popular ones being Jeux d'Enfants, Phantom Of The Opera, Spirited Away and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
We have also been discussing how people pronounce our region's name. The general (and correct) consensus is Q 1-oh-2 rather than Q one-hundred-and-two, in case you were wondering smile.gif

General

OOC: Everyone is heading back to school, with many people off to attend university.  As a result, our board has been less active than usual.  Some of our hot topics of late:

Q102 Regional Anthem:  We are currently trying to decide on an anthem for our region.

Ever Get That Feeling?: In this thread, we discuss what we do while at work to keep ourselves entertained.

Nev's Uni Help Line: A fairly new, yet popular thread started by our First Councilman Delegate, Nevareion.  He has kindly offered his extensive knowledge about all aspects of university.  As there are many newcomers to university life, Nev has proven to be a very helpful resource.

hudson bay - September 21, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)

Any news is better than no news!

Pacifist Cowards - November 30, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
From the halls of Q102, we present the thrilling and rather gripping news!

Inter-regional;
I.Firstly after Delegate Nevareion starting a thread about inactivity and the decline in interest in the forums right now, we have been having a change around on our forums. Not only have the been re-structured, but they have also had a complete face-lift with a new colour scheme. Further changes are planned to take place in the coming week. Check it all out at www.Q102.org.

II>The role play concerning the ongoing events in Nevareion continue to go on. This has been a popular topic of the forums attracting a lot of attention over the last few weeks.
A new RP concerning Zakaroo has also began. The death of the head of state has lead to a outbreak of fighting across Zakaroo. More on this as we have it.

International Conference;
After outlining the protocols and areas to be covered this conference it is set to start in the coming days, once the co-chairman has been confirmed. If you want to get involved in this then please head down to Q102's international conference center straight away.

Governmental;
I.Along with the changes to the forum, nevareion is also looking at a possible reshuffle of government, this mainly concerns appointing some new ministers to assist the councillors. We'll give you more on this when we have it.
II.All the ministries have been quite quiet this week with RL taking a toll on all the councillors. Hopefully this will be sorted soon.

Other;
Numbers
I.We have welcomed some new nations to Q102 this week, however recruitment continues to be a struggle.
I.Similarly, we've also seen the arrival of some new nations to the forums, we always enjoy meeting and greeting new people particulary to the forums.

Random
I.We have had several members celebrating birthdays this week so theres been a lot of hangovers in Q102!
II.Cruzendale has also just become a father for the 3 time, we again sent huge congratulations to him!
III.Popular chats this week have included discussions about bon-fire night and halloween, with many nations sharing their experiences of these events.

Finally theres a new round of Last Man Standing starting this coming Sunday. Any nation wishing to play should move a puppet nation (non UN) to The Q102 International Stadium at the lastest Saturday. See you there

Thats all for now, Q102 over and out!

Knorfladshgeff - December 10, 2005 05:37 PM (GMT)
I am back from the AWOL-ness! (Silly school...)

Parrrrtay - December 10, 2005 06:26 PM (GMT)
Good to have you back!

Freezing Cold Water - December 11, 2005 03:03 AM (GMT)
Welcome back to Canada. :)

Pacifist Cowards - December 30, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
Even tho K has reported in here, he's still AWOL back home, s that means that you're stuck with me for a least a little while longer lol :P

and now, the news:

Election Fever!
Q102 under went its December elections and it wad the start of several changes fro Q102. Nevareion won the election with another land-slide victory, Congratulations to him.!
Firstly, the election led to the creation of a opposition party to the government. We havent had enough active members to be able to make this a success for quite a while, however under Lameduds leadership, we know have a active opposition party.

The second change which is coming about are the elimination of much of our Free Port Laws. Delegate Nevareion announced that this would be a manefesto pledge of his if re-elected and he his since put into motion loosening the restrictions this law has placed upon Q102 and its citizens. More news as we have it.

Recruitment
Several citizens really hit the recruitment hard just before Christmas. This was lovely to see and thanks to their hard work we gained approx. 15 new nations. This brought our regional total back up to 130ish. However due to mass die offs of some key nations in Q102, we are back down to 120 nations.

Foreign Affairs
Q102 has opened a new embassy with Great Britain and Ireland. We are looking forward to a long and successful friendship with this region.
A break up of one of our allied regions, WWSETI lead to us being asked to open up a embassy with a new nation Liberalian (sp? got to check that name) This request is currently being debated in the Council Chambers.

We have also reappointed our ambassadors to make way fore several new ambassadors. This also meant we reviewed our embassies and any deemed to not be active we archieved. This means that for the first time in several months, all of our embassies are coevered with active ambassadors.

Role Plays
RP have quietened down lately, however upon Strawberry States entrance into the Q102 Region, The grand nation suffered simultaneous terrorist attacks. Strawberry States is hoping to make some unsuspecting twists. The Community of Joe Bobs is still battling out its Civil War with the break away province to it's north. A Multi-National Task Force is aiding Joe Bobs in its efforts to purge the Terrorists from Joe Bobs. Stay tuned to our Roleplaying Forum for some exciting events happening.

United Nations

The resolution "Rights Of Biological Sapients" saw a great turn out....sadly eveyone thought it was junk and trashed it for 2 pages

I RECOGNIZE that I like it [ 0 ] [0.00%]
You're pulling my chain right? [ 9 ] [75.00%]
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz [ 3 ] [25.00%]

Some sad news today.

Our Delegate Nevareion today resigned from his post for RL reasons. We are very dissapointed to see him step down from his post, although he will still be participating in everyday Q102 life as a forum Admin and member.

In the meantime he has appointed me to act as delegate until the next elections.

Parrrrtay - January 12, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
Congrats PC and good luck!
