I've had this quote:

"They say friends are the family of the twenty-first century"

(or words to that effect) stuck in my head for days now. It's from the television series 'Spaced'. I'm not sure if it went outside of the UK. Nonetheless, does anyone recognise it or know of the source?

This sounds like it fits well with the "urban tribe" concept I've heard mentioned a few places, but I can't really give a specific source.

edit: or maybe a quick google of urban tribes shows that the author has a website called urbantribes.net. The concepts are similar, but I don't think he ever implicitly uses that quote.
