Hello, I'm Peter Mans Bridge.
Today, in the Kana Dian House of Commons, the bill to permit persons of the same gender to marry has passed final reading. This is a momentous occasion in our history.
The Prime Minister has been quoted as saying the following: "We're a nation of minorities and in a nation of minorities you don't cherry-pick rights."
Opponents to this included Conservative Party Leader Stephen Harper, who has claimed to reconsider the law once more should his party form the government. He has also stated that his government would allow a free vote on the matter.
