Title: Iran, next?
Ess - June 20, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
Who thinks Iran is next to be invaded by the US under false pretenses?
I've been hearing too many rumors the last few months.
The states are set up for it geographically:

I still wonder about a draft as the recruiting levels sink lower.
What say you all - especially you folks that live in the states?

*shhhhhhhh it's susposed to be a secret*
TinyVillages - June 20, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
False pretenses? They've hoarded up vast reserves of petroleum under the sand, and it needs to be released! *sarcasm out*

[rant]I think that these wars are stinkin' religious wars.
At least, that's my opinion based on the arguments of other Christians when we argue if the war in Iraq was right/wrong.
Them: GWB is a Christian, you know. God told him to bomb Iraq.
Somehow I remember that happening before. What was it called again? Oh yeah, the Crusades. [/rant]
Sorry if I've posted that before. People like that drive me nuts.

Well, Bush telling them how they ought to vote appears to have brought out the hard-liners. If that was deliberate, then he's definitely fishing for excuses.

GWB will probably attempt to invade California.

Iran is definetly next, unless the DPRK keeps escalating things.
Here's a little something I made up for a similar discussion on a different forum, the yanks could probably get away with Syria too.

Looking at that, I suspect Pakistan may be quite justified in researching nukes!

doubtful at this point, Iran will really put up a fight and Iraq really isn't solved yet. Maybe if we can see the end of the Iraqi insurgency(not likely to happen before W is gone) then I might be willing to see it happen. However, in my opinion as well, there seems to be a certain war weariness domestically which will lessen the chance of war in my opinion.

Who knows..? It won't be long - that's for sure. If not Iran next, one of the Korea's for sure.

I agree with SS. I think that taking Iran would cost them way more than they are willing to pay.

That might be justified.
(Just kidding...don't hit me with stuff..... :P )

He'd consdier invading until someone told him it was in the US, and then explained that's what he's president of.

That reminds me of a comic strip.
A guy is writing a letter to GWB telling him that he needs to start bombing 3 countries a month if he wants to get them all. GWB recieves the letter and says, "Okay, October we hit Canada, Mexico and Hawaii." His aide replies, "No, no sir, Hawaii's ours."

Well, there's actually some dispute about that...
See
here, for example.

Syria cound be next. With the recent serge of "democracy" in the middle east it's probably the beginning of the end of illegal invasions under Bush's mandate.
If Bush were to pull out of Iraq the shiite's would probably take power and begin healing wounds with Iran, which the US is strongly opposed to, which could be why Bush won't set a plan to get the heck out of there.
There probably won't be a draft though, I think vietnam is too fresh in peoples minds. Plus Bush would need time to convince his sheep that they would need a draft bill, if you popped a draft on america now you could see a revolt.
Edited State of Union Address (Funny)
